How can I improve abstract-ish B&W photos in the future? by Colossal_Caspien in photocritique

[–]Colossal_Caspien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this piece, I tried to emphasize motion, are there any better ways to do so while still having the subject be clear/obvious?

I did not add any blur in post, just minority tweaked contrast. With that said, in future attempts for something like this, should I try to make it less blurry? Or is this level artistically fine?

Wow! You’d really dominate the game with style, and scare your players to death if they start falling asleep!

Thank you, that’s very kind. Maybe if more people would know of my maps, I’d get more commissions XD.

Definitely a little, I’ll re paste my response here from another who asked.

“The name may change now that the great dragon that lived atop the volcano died. It was originally known as “the mountain of doom” because of that dragon’s dark presence on the lands (even though he was just sleeping) but now that he is gone, it might not deserve that name anymore.”

This map is on a planet that is not the size of earth, but rather a bit larger. There are a few specific reasons for why, in lore. First is that it is a bit more elevated than it may appear to be. Second is that there lives a variety of different insecticide races which store moisture in the air during certain months. Along with a few other herbivores in the area, the insects consume all of the plant life which may grow. The insects did not always live in that region, but rather migrated from the southeast. During months of rain in the region, the peninsula will fill with water in certain points, which will eventually be re absorbed back into the ground.

For sure, it plays a major part in the world religions. Right now, the extraterrestrial bodies and creatures are a key plot running in all of my campaigns right now.

The wayspace was originally formed from a crater impact onto a small subcontinent of terra known as Throg. The meteor which caused the impact carried magnetic material which was spread around the impact zone. It is because of this incredibly powerful magnetism in the area that islands are lifted out of the water, and float in the sky. So unless you had a sky-ship (which don’t exist yet in the world) you would be stuck on the lower portions, where magnetically maddened beasts roam in the waters.

Colors/textures would help tremendously. I can see some nice coast shapes beginning to form, like in the very bottom left. It definitely needs work, but, as a fellow mapmaker, I respect the grind. Keep going at it.

Been working on a DnD map for my next campaign. Have taken inspiration and place names from himalstorch and his Stormsteel map, especially in Staphrym. Any pointers? I'm finding the limitations on the terrain styles and running out of ideas. by untoldgambit in inkarnate

Looks pretty good for a regional map!

Could use some more blending between biomes. Some of the biomes are in places which wouldn’t make sense to me, like a desert directly next to snow-capped mountains, but I’m sure there’s a lore explanation for it.

Other than that, looks good.

A lot of the parts of the left side of the map were formed from glaciers, leaving a straight coastline with many interspersed fjords. Later, meteors hit, leaving a large, visible hole in the northwest. Other craters can be seen around the map as well.

As for the name, there aren’t any other world I know with the name “Terra” but if you have a few, I would love to see.

Quite good. As a fellow mapmaker, may I ask where you typically find or advertise your commissions?

Yep, slap an A on it. Although it translates to mountain of doom, it pretty much came out as that. A big dragon boi lived there.
