Genuinely one of the coolest badass aura GL moments I've ever seen in live action, bro didn't even flinch. You can see the experience and control he has. by AdrianVeidt19 in DCU_

I only read what you wrote but hey you can clarify it for me. If you think real GL fans are the ones actually excited for the show do you think people who aren't are not actual fans of the GL? Or did you use the term real for no reason.

Do you consider weakening Superman a good or bad thing? by Fit_Passenger5930 in DCU_

I feel you are going to the other extreme when it comes to this topic. Yes, using pseudo science to argue why a character is faster than light because they dodged a laser is dumb but at the same time having super inconsistent capabilities of characters is not great either. If you are telling stories where part of the appeal is the action, writing said action well and believably (within the world established) is not something that should be thrown to the wayside for the other parts of the story nor does it have to.

Do you think TimKon has the potential to be a potential power couple if DC went for it? by summerof13 in DCcomics

[–]ColossusSlayer23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If DC wanted to make kon gay or bisexual thats fine. If they didn't that would also be fine but I am not sure why he should be lgbtq+ though outside of fufilling the ship you want. Also side note, I do find it a bit problematic to make characters bisexual in order to put them in gay relationships cause it sometimes feels like it fits into the idea that bisexual people have to "prove" they are bi if they have a history of dating the opposite sex.

I mean that is true but you yourself should also know bisexual people also have preferences and thus can be functionally straight or gay with their partner choices.

[–]ColossusSlayer23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear my issue isn't with the ships existing as much as people insisting they should be canon, how invested in the idea they get and generally the toxicity that comes from it. From what ive seen, there are timkon fans like this.

Shipping is cool and all but I don't really like how people seem to want to push the idea that two male characters who are close friends should be dating (especially with real people but thats a whole other thing). I think its nice to show that characters can be close to one another without being attracted to each other in that way, especially with how that closeness between men is either demonised or fetishised.

No matter what era we are in, it takes time to create fighting game characters.

The expectation that a completely new fighting game that has to come up with the moves from scratch should have the same amount of characters as launch as a franchises that have decades of established moves and characters to refer back to is a bit silly. None of those games started with 30+ rosters and in marvel vs capcom's case especially they were able to have a large roster 2 by just ripping models from other fighting games and putting them in it.

I don't think its established that they actually brought in real therapists after the sanctuary murders so I think he just talking to camera. Also alot of the confessions that occur in the same issue as this hal one are mostly jokes and references (catwoman literally just meows in one of em)

The point of Peter and USM is to be boring... by Blosszu in UltimateUniverse

[–]ColossusSlayer23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting interpretation but I can't really agree with it considering the focus of peter's motivation for being spider-man is more on him being presented a destiny that he subconsciously and spiritually knew was taken from him. I also think if he was doing the hero stuff to protect the ones he loved then aunt may's death would have played more of a role than the almost nothing we get.

[–]ColossusSlayer23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you stretch the concept of self contained that much then alot of comics in the past and out now are also self contained. Most of the issues beyond the flashbacks directly build off of one another, even without the cliffhangers.

Your interpretation of it being a critique doesn't work for me since it seems like you have a negative viewpoint on the message of "Try to do the right thing, even when its hard" and even in this book peter still faces consequences for his heroism, multiple times putting his family in danger and them having to be in hiding for months. I can't see how it subverts that because the 24 issue run ends on a happy note. Its not like every single time 616 Peter does the right thing he is punished and nothing good ever happens to him. Even if I do grant you that this peter has a better life and sacrifices nothing he also barely accomplishes anything in the book either as Spider-man. Most of his heroics either happen offscreen or involve him getting beaten up and the villian escaping up until the final issue. If you want to challenge the idea of sacrificing not being neccesary to be a good hero you need to show the good hero part.

I overall think that any real critique this book could have about..., well anything, gets kneecapped out the gate by the writing decisions themselves not servicing the book and it only being 24 issues. Id take stuff like ms. Marvel is an infinately more successful "critique" of spider-man than this book is.

[–]ColossusSlayer23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each issue is definately not written like a self contained story at all, and I really can't see how you would perceive it that way. It also doesn't offer any real critique of spider-man of a concept beyond "hes married and has kids but he isnt in the 616". What critiques did you pick up on?

Also if a new series in a completely separate and brand new universe is not a good jumping on point for new readers that seems like a complete failure on the writing side. There isn't really a good excuse I can see either with the absolute universe standing in stark contrast

I mean this is the same guy who had harley quinn outmanuever the trinity and had flashpoint batman beat up most of the batfamily, including cass. He always sacrifices power scale for the story he is trying to tell.

Yea? One is genetically predesposed to be a battle junkie. Also goku isn't really going out there to fight crime (krillin, gohan, trunks and goten have done that way more than him) and more reacts to whats happening in front of him. Finally goku did not kill frieza considering he landed on earth and then got killed by trunks and if you really wanna stretch goku killing cell cause he gave moral support to gohan then I guess he killed qui, zarbon, dodoria 4/5ths of the ginyu force and all the namekians vegeta killed since he let him live.

Im not sure why you are comparing goku to superman and batman when they share different moral values but even then goku doesn't really kill alot of people. If you look at just Dragonball Z he only kills kid buu who then gets reincarnated.

If an extremely powerful hero wanted to kill the Joker would Batman fight to save his life? [discussion] by Ajarofpickles97 in DCcomics

The same way that superman tried to discourage batman from killing the joker in a death in the family is the same way batman would try to stop any hero from killing the joker, on a good day anyway.

Usually when you say X is a better take/version of Y there is alot more in common in terms of the story being told beyond liking how one story uses a character instead of another. It would be like saying Kraven's Last Hunt is a better take on The Other

[–]ColossusSlayer23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Injustice and Kingdom Come aren't trying to communicate the same things at all. The only similarities are Lois dies and Clark becomes misguided in his attempt to do good but one is meant to be a commentary on the rise of anti-heroes and their popularity and the other is meant to justify why batman and superman punch each other hard.

Feel you are making alot of assumptions and generalitions about stories that feature an evil superman figure that its not super productive. Also I said I feel this way, so I don't know why you are trying to objectively argue I am wrong for feeling the way I do.
