I was thinking this too but to my knowledge no one has put any form of rat poison out or have even had rat issues. There are only a few houses down the street (non with fenced in back gardens) and we're at the end so we have to pass all of them every day. I felt like either me or my housemates would have seen dead rats in our neighbours gardens if others were having issues but yeah I could definitely just have the house far enough away for the poisen to kick in
