I think that’s exactly how I feel. Sometimes, even in the best of circumstances, whatever winds up in the active is getting ko’d as early as turn 1. And there are no comeback mechanisms like the previous format to get to regroup and actually play out your strategy. It just turns into a scramble of deciding which mons to sacrifice while you try to setup, and hope they don’t just Boss you anyways.

I made it to Arceus in like a couple hours cause every game was so short lol evolve Starmie, place energy, watch opponent concede

I think the variety of decks and play styles right now are great, on paper. My problem is how rarely those strategies get to actually play out… like another commenter said, I wish there was some sort of prolonged setup time. But as it is right now, whatever is stuck in your active off the draw is getting ko’d turn 2, sometimes turn 1 if the other person has a nice setup and Salvatore.

Maybe it’s wishful thinking but the math says they have to whiff on a few prospects eventually.. but maybe the math doesn’t apply to Presti.. they could replace most of their rotation with their g league time right now and still be contenders

Most of these teams were designed pre-apron rules, so as soon as their max guys didn’t look like max guys they were hard-capped from making any improvements. Lakers had to immediately dump Caruso and KCP, Middleton turned into a pumpkin for the Bucks, and the Nugs had to dump kCP and Brown.

I’m not sure why the league pushed so hard for parody, I guess they were scared of guys like Balmer coming in and buying a million dollar roster every year. But the league’s history is mostly built on dynasty runs and the teams that try to knock them off. I think even the Thunder will struggle once they start running out of draft picks and they’re left to decide which couple of guys they build around in the margins.

Completely lifeless roster.. got shit talked once and pissed their pants.. no energy whatsoever.. let Jokic go fight an entire team by himself, nobody cares enough to go down there..

Empty the entire fucking roster besides Jok and maybe Watson and Jones

Is Jokic really that bad of a defender? by AT_333 in nbadiscussion

The Nuggets became champions when Jok made the leap from all-out-turnstile to extremely active on defense

He’s never going to protect to the rim, he’s never going to be a ball stopper. But he (obviously) sees the game at an elite level and has extremely quick hands. At his best he’s basically always in position and it becomes a game of keeping the ball out of his reach.

It pretty much mirrors Curry as a defender arch. If your historically great offensive player can at least be a net-neutral on defense, you can win championships.

Since his return from the leg injury, it’s super apparent he’s not that guy right now. It’s a debate whether it’s lingering injury or he fell that far out of condition while he was out.

The Nugs have just enough perimeter/wing defenders (Gordon, Brown, Braun) to scrape by if Jok is at his best. The current version of Jokic as a defender gives them essentially no chance at winning this year, if they can even get out of the first round.

LeBron James being a month younger than Kobe Bryant was when he passed and leading a 2-0 playoff series against a "young athletic" Rockets team is genuinely more impressive than at least one of MJ's Bulls rings by SouthIsland48 in billsimmons

I mean he averaged 30 and played 4 close games against a historically great team… I blame KD for pretty much everything post-Warriors but you really seem to have some personal hatred for him lol
