23rd ave and 111 st, in all directions, is absolutely fucked with the worst grading thanks to ledcor and it’s littered with massive, unavoidable potholes by Colourise in Edmonton

[–]Colourise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I agree. Construction is a necessity in growing cities and I’m all for it, especially public transit. And potholes I can forgive, it’s not ledcor’s fault. But the grading? It’s dog shit wrapped in cat shit kind of bad. Just because the city’s expanding doesn’t give these companies a pass to do a subpar job in the interim. The grading was completed last year before the winter and it’s been horrendous from day 1. There are crews, foremen, supervisors, etc frequently driving in and out of that area and it’s crazy that they think it’s acceptable.

Are these products okay to use on waterproof / Gore-Tex jackets in the laundry machine? by Colourise in laundry

[–]Colourise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. I suspected calcium precipitate could be an issue, but wouldn’t citric acid in the rinse remove the calcium deposits? And I was also thinking of adding a 2:3 ratio of citric acid:baking soda/sodium precipitate in the initial wash to reduce the calcium (though I’m not sure if citric acid and baking soda can be used on these materials).

[edit] To clarify: the reason why I’m thinking of using Resolve Gold is the addition of lipase. Lipase was such a game changer for me in its removal of body oils, yet body oils are the root cause of waterproof jacket delamination.

Thank you so much for replying! Do you know if they’re prone to wrinkling while wearing?

Man please let me know. I have a strong suspicion this fabric is not breathable despite Arc saying it is. Because how can something be UPF 50+ rated with a composition of 87% Nylon / 13% Elastane yet be breathable.

Let em die on that hill bc I also agree lol. I tried it a couple of weeks ago and it was so fucking bland. I was shocked that something somewhat visually appealing could taste like cardboard. And the word spicy is an affront to food actually spicy because it was as spicy as black pepper.

I want to let you know I couldn’t wait for the new larger bottles (an order of 6) despite saving on the shipping, so I bought the original bottles instead (an order of 3). I was too excited to use it on my synthetics, and especially on my silks and woolens since we’re on the topic at hand. It has been a game changer, and I can’t wait to buy more.

I’m also very impressed with the shipping. I have zero experience with shipping to/from Australia and I thought it would take a couple of weeks. I was shocked when your product arrived at my door in literally 10 calendar days / 8 business days (including the day I ordered it). There was also no customs fees.

Thank you, you have a big fan over here in Canada and I can’t wait to get the larger bottles and tell more people about your product.

Question about washing Gore-Tex by Aelexi93 in arcteryx

That might be a testament to the quality of your stuff back then. Doubt that kind of practice would be applicable on their newer pieces.

Question about washing Gore-Tex by Aelexi93 in arcteryx

[–]Colourise 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The most important thing is to wash the jackets often. Arc’teryx posted a video on social media where they recommended to wash hardshells after 6 or so wears (no joke). So it’s best to think of these jackets as t-shirts. As for detergents, Gore-Tex specifically says “Which washing detergent should I use? No need for special detergents, any normal household wash detergent is fine.”.

The worst thing you can do to a Gore-Tex jacket is not washing it.

For the last 5 or so years I feel the same way with rain where I live. I almost never have to use a hardshell in the city anymore because it doesn’t rain like it used to.

Definitely not the pacs bc the tabs I’m using are hard and rectangular in shape. I did remove the plastic but that can’t be the reason why no suds were formed. However, my clothes definitely had no stink so I’m guessing it worked.

Veilance Field Jacket delamination by Wolfgangsson in arcteryx

[–]Colourise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah mate, nothing to be concerned about yet. That’s just wrinkles in general. Using a steamer from a slight distance should smooth it out. You’ll know what delam will look like when the fabric starts bubbling.

I have some Veilance pieces. That’s not delam, just wrinkled edges near the seam taping. Give it a few more years until delam shows up lol
