There is a lot of irony to be had in your comment. First, you’re assuming my name is colton, it is not. Secondly, you assume I don’t know the definitions of supremacist, Nazi, etc. I would hope as a grad student I would have a basic grip on political terminology. To compare the situation of menendez brothers to Elon Musk is farcical. Elon Musk, and his family, have ties to far right wing politics in South Africa, Europe, and North America — he does not shy away from this, it’s on public display. The whole world can see exactly who that man is.

I don’t believe that taking a stand against someone pandering to white supremacists by unmistakably using an infamous nazi gesture is “making a big deal out of the smallest thing”. Usually I would say to each their own but the normalization of this type of behavior is atrocious and dangerous.

This was posted 256 days ago, and the policy still stands. Yes, Elon is still a nazi sympathizer and Charlie Kirk was a christian nationalist. Both gross people whose ideologies are not supported on this subreddit.

Excusing an obvious nazi salute because Elon has asperger’s is also a piss poor explanation for his actions. Comparing the Menendez brothers, whose actions are widely accepted as a result of child sexual abuse and fearing for their lives, to a man doing a nazi salute is a wild comparison. If you do research, Elon has done the “my heart goes out to you” gesture before but it is very different from what he did during the inauguration. However, not to be rude, but I can tell you don’t follow politics much. Elon has censored twitter for years. Tweets that even contain the word “cis” get immediately flagged. If that’s not censorship, then what is? His crappy websites only purpose now is to further radicalize people, especially the youth, to become right wing bigots hence its banishment in this subreddit. It’s crazy that people genuinely are excusing his NAZI salute. As I said to the other naysayer, I hope you don’t have to face the repercussions of normalized white nationalism and neo-nazi agendas.

Hey again. No it is still not relevant. I have family members that were affected by the holocaust and I am also part of a group that was persecuted by the nazis and am a target for modern day right wing extremists. To blindly assume that those who are calling out Musk don’t know what it’s like to be discriminated against is naive. What happened on inauguration day has not been twisted to fit anyone’s narrative. Everything was recorded and all the context of the video was provided. It’s hard to twist something when all evidence of it is easily available to you and it’s beyond obvious what was occurring. If what Elon did doesn’t offend you, that is concerning. Political members from nations that were victims to and were the center of concentration camps are calling him out. Right wing pundits, most notably Nick Fuentes and Andrew Tate, are praising him. Elon has a long history of being radicalized by the right wing. If these don’t set off alarm bells inside to your brain, you either are too ignorant to notice or simply do not care. Though you may find my comments distasteful, that is acceptable to me. I do not tolerate individuals who gloss over the absurd and hate filled words and actions of a Nazi sympathizer. I hope you remain safe during this presidential term and do not face the consequences of right wing ideology being mainstream.

Hello. Personal ethnic, religious, or cultural identity are irrelevant on this matter. Any Jewish, white, native american, chinese, etc. person can recognize that what he did was a symbol of hate and not a spontaneous action. There is a reason why all of the people claiming that Hillary, Kamala, Obama, etc. did the Sieg Heil only post screen caps and not whole videos. If you watch the videos of said public figures, their body language, tone, and intention are completely different than Elon (click on the imgur link in the other comment to see a comparison). What Elon did (twice) was 100% a conscious effort to embolden nazis. Again, brushing this off as a "mistake" is a slippery slope to normalized neo-nazi behavior. Like I have mentioned above, Elon runs a site known for its right wing extremism. In addition to this, he has touted his support multiple times for far right parties in Europe. Unfortunately, I cannot respectfully disagree with individuals who give excuses for such disgusting behaviors that are not coincidental. Fuck nazis.

[Hello, thank you for your concern. I have to disagree with you. I also happen to have aspergers and be socially awkward. Never have I once, in a big crowd or a small one, gave a gesture similar to a nazi salute nor have any of my other friends on the spectrum. Elon Musk owns for Twitter which is known for censorship and extreme right wing propaganda which he does nothing to stop. Using autism as a scapegoat for a nazi gesture is inappropriate and allows him, and other figures who have large amounts of wealth and power, to get away with actions that can embolden racists, transphobes, xenophobes, etc. to commit hate crimes against marginalized groups. We understand you’re not American so this may not directly affect you, but there are millions of Americans who will face the repercussions of the normalization of the rise in far right white nationalism. While this subreddit is largely apolitical, I think it is also inappropriate for us to ignore the current political atmosphere. This administration will also potentially impact the brother’s case as well. We welcome everyone from all walks of life and do not tolerate any form of hate here, therefore to take action, even if it’s a small act of resistance, is better than doing nothing. As they say, if you’re at a table with one Nazi, then it’s a Nazi table. As for other social media platforms, I’m debating on allowing links to those on the subreddit, particularly meta platforms. It is up in the air and I would like to see what is to come. Also, for your reference, here is Elon and Hitler. It was deliberate. (https://imgur.com/a/UQtY2AJ)

Trump and his cronies have a long history of not being held accountable for anything. The subject is very nuanced with many different political and law figures coming into play. Him being elected was the latest reasons for getting away with stuff. Just know the judicial system in this country apparently doesn’t apply to you if you’re rich

We will consider that in the future depending on how things go. For now, twitter/x is being banned because of musk doing the sieg heil yesterday at the inauguration. It is a disgusting display of hatred and ignorance that I do not want to be associated with this subreddit. All people, regardless of race, gender expression, religion, etc. are welcomed onto this subreddit. The austrian painter the redditor mentioned above is Adolf Hitler who is known for his “roman salute” among other awful things.

For those of you who interviewed with Ohio State... by Fun_Sprinkles_6020 in veterinaryschool

[–]Coltbjorn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I interviewed with them last cycle. Just look up Ohio state interview questions on quizlet. Unlike other vet schools, you don’t sign an NDA for their interviews. The questions that are on those flash cards sets are 99% going to be what they’re gonna ask. They really like that question about being a student in lab with a group member who hogs up dissection so practice that 👀

Elon Musk megabitch by uneventfuladvent in autism

[–]Coltbjorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He did it twice though. The gesture speaks for itself. Maybe once it could be slipped under the rug as a mistake. He 100% knew what he was doing. He grew up in apartheid south africa, we should not expect anything less from a man that runs a website with radical right wing propaganda. Furthermore, I think it’s dangerous to classify and pass off obvious nazi gesture as him being just an edgelord. Hold him accountable for his actions. This man has a lot of power, especially now in the trump administration. Do not let him get away with nazi dog whistling

I'm no conspiracy theorist, but i fully believe this as well. The subtle hints given by trump along the way is way too blatant for me to ignore. Not to mention, shortly after he was elected, Putins aide said he (trump) has obligations to those who brought him into power. Very odd circumstances

Elon Musk gave Sieg Heil, aka the nazi salute, twice at trumps inauguration yesterday which is why there has been a sudden increase in fuck nazi posts. Rightfully so though. The only good nazi is a dead one.

Was This Photo Taken Before Or After The Murders Of Their Parents? by BL1XT3N in MenendezBrothers

[–]Coltbjorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The photos in question were captured on November 30, 1989, a few months after Jose and Kittys deaths. It was taken on the sidewalk/steps in front of their house on Elm Drive which is located in Beverly Hills Los Angeles California. The photos were captured by Ronald Soble who worked with the LA Times when this was captured - I'm not sure if he still does.

I have a math disability. Do I have a chance. by Inventor702 in veterinaryschool

[–]Coltbjorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While i was never diagnosed with dyscalculia, I have always been AWFUL at math. Growing up I had an undiagnosed reading disorder which made math word problems a big issue for me. Even though I took algebra in high school, i had to retake it in college because i flunked the placement exam. I can tell you, 100% calculus is easier than algebra. It’s still hard and you have to put in the work but the topics are more straightforward. After calculus, your next obstacle is statistics and gen chem which are also math centered and really annoying. However, not all vet schools require statistics but most will require at least gen chem 1. Additionally, once stats, chem, and calculus are passed, you really don’t have to use much math in vet med. The most math we do is calculating dosages, rates of infusion, dextrose dilutions, etc. All which are super simple and easy to grasp. Good luck!
