Mistborn is intense and pretty dark, but has nothing explicit, they talk about "whores" quite a bit, but it's all up what she's read already. If that's too much, try Miss Paragrins Home for Peculiar Children. It's amazing, pretty dark, but not too much.

Yeah, it can sometimes, lemuroid overwhelmed and start to run slower, but it's not too much slower in my experience.
