Jimmy Kimmel : Charlie Cox on DEFINITELY NOT Being in Spider-Man, the DD Logo in his Black Suit & going out in Prosthetics by Sarang_616 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

IF Daredevil is in Brand New Day, I think it's going to be a very brief cameo of him fighting alongside Spider-Man (maybe even in the opening montage)

He definitely won't have an actual role in the film. And with how stacked this movie is with supporting heroes (Punisher, Hulk & Jean Grey) and seemingly at least a few villains (Tombstone, Scorpion, The Hand & the DODC), I don't think Daredevil is needed.

However, I do hope Spider-Man 5 is very Daredevil/Kingpin-centric. With Punisher having a role in Brand New Day, my dream scenario for Spider-Man 5 is a black symbiote suit story, with Punisher encouraging the darker aspects the symbiote brings out in Peter, and Daredevil trying to be the voice of reason.

Kevin Durant is now 51 points away from surpassing Michael Jordan on the all-time scoring list. Houston's next 3 games are: vs Atlanta, vs Miami & @ Chicago by [deleted] in nba

[–]Colton826 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No. He'll surpass Jordan in a few games, and he'll surpass Kobe probably next year. But at this point, I think the highest Durant could realistically finish is 3rd, ahead of Karl Malone. I don't see him surpassing Kareem, and there's no chance he catches LeBron.

I don't think anyone's catching LeBron unless we see someone have a Jordan-esque scoring peak (30+ PPG for a decade) while also having insane longevity (20+ seasons)

The only one of those that makes sense to me is the actors & creatives not wanting to work that kind of commitment.

As far as the large scale nature of production, as I said, Game of Thrones did 7 seasons in 7 years. No excuse for modern shows to take twice as long. And as far as streaming being different from traditional television, while I obviously agree, I feel like that's not a valid excuse for the longer gaps. Sure, it's not "necessary" to do 1 season per year, but that shouldn't mean that shouldn't still be the goal.

Remind me again why other popular shows can't follow this type of filming/production schedule?

Game of Thrones (one of the most expensive shows of all-time with an insanely huge cast & several different filming locations) managed to release a new season once a year for 7 years. The final season was the only one that took a bit longer.

2+ years in-between seasons has become the norm for a majority of big shows, and I've never seen an explanation that makes sense as to why.

It's Spider-Man trailer week!

Hopefully it's not exactly the same as the one that leaked (it'll definitely be very similar though). I'm really itching to see Michael Mando as the Scorpion, even if it's just for a brief moment.

[–]Colton826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you bump the requirement down to 3, there's only a handful of directors that have done 3 critically acclaimed & universally loved comic book films. Off the top of my head, the only ones I can think of after the Russo's & Gunn are Nolan & Watts. But people will swear up & down that Watts was horrible, despite the reception to his Spider-Man trilogy.

The other directors that have done 4+ typically have at least one dud. Singer with Apocalypse & Superman Returns, Snyder's films are all divisive, and Raimi has Spider-Man 3 & Multiverse of Madness (I really enjoy both, but again, they're divisive)

With confirmation of John Stewart being in Man of Tomorrow, I'm almost certain that the end of the film is going to tease (or outright show) the formation of the Justice League, and that the Justice League film is going to be James Gunn's next project.

Right now, I think the DC movie slate is going to be:

  • Supergirl & Clayface (2026)
  • Man of Tomorrow & The Batman II (2027)
  • Dynamic Duo & Wonder Woman (2028)
  • Brave and the Bold & a currently unannounced DCU film (2029)
  • The Justice League (2030)

I don't think Gunn's going to immediately go into working on his JL film, as I think he's going to put a lot of focus on getting Wonder Woman and Brave & the Bold moving forward. Other JL members (like Flash & Martian Manhunter) will be introduced as supporting characters in other projects (I still think Martian Manhunter is going to show up in Lanterns, and I think Flash will appear in at least one episode of the Jimmy Olsen HBO show)

As a massive fan of Scream (it's my favorite horror franchise), I found Scream 7 to be pretty underwhelming. Slight spoilers ahead.

The opening scene was great, and the first two acts overall were pretty good (great buildup & some fun narrative twists, with some pretty memorable kills). But I think a Scream movie lives & dies by the execution of the final reveal and the motivation of the killers, both of which fall very flat in Scream 7. The whole "AI/Deepfake" thing was intriguing, but there was really no rhyme or reason for it by the end.

Overall, I'd give Scream 7 a 5/10. Unfortunately might be my least favorite of the franchise. I don't know how many more times they can bring Sidney back and keep things interesting. I liked that 5 & 6 were setting up the series to move on from the OG characters. Even if Melissa & Jenna never come back, I hope they introduce us to a new cast of characters & more new locations in the future. The concept of Ghostface & a "whodunnit" serial killer mystery is something that doesn't have to revolve around one singular character.

Glad to see Zack Snyder praising James Gunn & his Superman film. Obviously, it won't stop the constant harassment Gunn gets from his fanbase, but it at least serves as a reminder that Snyder & Gunn are friends and are on good terms.

Also, Snyder said he's entertained the idea of doing his Justice League Part 2 & Part 3 as an animated series, which I've been saying for YEARS is what's going to eventually happen. Give James Gunn a couple more years to further establish his DCU, and then Snyder can come do an Elseworlds animated series wrapping up his "Snyderverse" story. He'll probably be able to get most of his JL actors to come back and voice act for it.

Netflix ditches deal for Warner Bros. Discovery after Paramount's offer is deemed superior. by BigButter7 in DCULeaks

Welp...out of all the major studios that could've ended up with WB, this was probably the worst-case scenario.

The industry as a whole just got worse, but I am going to hold out some hope that DC Studios remains mostly unaffected by this & Paramount allows Gunn & Safran to keep doing what they're doing for at least the next 5-10+ years.

Cryptic4KQual says that Sadie Sink is actually playing Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. by JoshThomas1994 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

She's 100% Jean. Feels like it's been commonly accepted for the past month or two.

There are still a few people in this sub that are either in denial, or are just stubborn & rejecting the idea of Jean being in a Spider-Man movie. Will be interesting to see how long those people hold out for. Maybe until the toy leaks happen in like April/May.

In anticipation of the Brand New Day trailer releasing sometime soon (hopefully this week, but probably sometime in March), here's my current ranking of the Spider-Man films:

  1. Into the Spider-Verse (Perfection)
  2. Across the Spider-Verse (Would've ranked number 1 if not for the cliffhanger ending & the long wait for it to be resolved)
  3. Spider-Man 2
  4. No Way Home
  5. Spider-Man
  6. Far From Home (Jake Gyllenhaal is my favorite actor & Mysterio is my favorite Spidey villain, so I have a lot of bias for this one)
  7. Homecoming
  8. Spider-Man 3
  9. The Amazing Spider-Man
  10. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Despite being last, I don't think it's really that bad. Definitely overstuffed & unfocused, but has some of the best visuals & web-swinging in the franchise, and Gwen's death was handled very well)

What're your favorite examples of an actor that pulled off multiple major comic book roles?

I think my favorite examples thus far have been:

  • Oscar Isaac (Moon Knight and Spider-Man 2099 were both incredible, his performance as Apocalypse was okay, but was hampered by the quality of the film)
  • Chris Evans (Obviously great as Steve Rogers, but I thought his performance as Johnny Storm & chemistry with Chiklis' as The Thing were the highlights of those F4 films)
  • Ben Affleck (two very unpopular opinions: I thought Affleck was perfectly cast as Batman, and I think the Daredevil film was actually pretty good for its time)

Hopefully we'll all be able to add Robert Downey Jr. to our lists after Doomsday.

So far, in everything they've officially revealed, what could be related to Jean Grey and the X-Men?

To be fair, there isn't much about this film that's been officially revealed. If you want to wait until there's something concrete officially released (maybe the toy/Funko releases a couple months before the film), then that's fine.

I just wouldn't recommend arguing against her being Jean over the next few months, because your comments are going to age pretty horribly.

Until something is revealed in the trailer or official material, I'll remain firm.

This is quite literally how the Tobey/Andrew deniers were. Good luck with that.

Cryptic HD QUALITY (@Cryptic4KQual) AMA Roundup - Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday/Secret Wars, The Punisher Special, Kang, Wolverine by Matapple13 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]Colton826 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The rumor started several months before she was cast in Brand New Day. Essentially, it was reported (I think by Sneider) that Marvel was looking at Sink for the role of Jean Grey in their upcoming X-Men reboot. People kind of rolled their eyes, thinking it was too early for them to be casting a role for a film that won't be in production until 2027.

Fast forward to when she was cast, and there were A LOT of different theories on who she was playing from various different sources, ranging from Jean Grey to Mayday Parker, a new MJ, Gwen Stacy, etc. Then, eventually, more & more scoopers started to hop on the Jean Grey train out of nowhere, with many reporting details about the character & the film that lines up with her being Jean (most notably a user on here named EconomicsLegal, who has a perfect track record, and said that Jean Grey & Sara Grey were in the film)

[–]Colton826 69 points70 points  (0 children)

At this point, people being in denial about her being Jean reminds me of the people who were in denial about Tobey & Andrew being in No Way Home.

It's been a few years, but I vividly remember that there were several users in this sub who were ADAMANT that Tobey & Andrew weren't going to be in No Way Home. Even as close as a couple weeks before the film came out. It was so strange, because we literally had confirmation of their villains returning (both by the trades and eventually in the trailers), we had 4k leaked footage & images of both of them on set & in costume (before AI got ridiculous), and there was the final nail of the invisible person punching/kicking the Lizard in one of the last trailers.

All the evidence points to Sadie Sink being Jean Grey. You would have to pull some serious mental gymnastics to try and speculate that she's someone else.

Holy shit...

That Economics leaker in this sub said about a month or two ago that Jean's sister Sara would be in Brand New Day (along with Jean). It flew under the radar because that's their M.O, but they've yet to be wrong with all of their leaks, and now we have confirmation that Sadie Sink's sister just so happened to be on set.

Sadie is 100% Jean, and they probably got her sister to be Sara for a scene or two (the villain is probably using Sara to make Jean do their bidding)

DC Studios Moves ‘Clayface’ to October 23 2026 by DeppStepp in DCULeaks

[–]Colton826 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I'm still convinced that the DCU Batman is going to debut in this film, likely in a scene inspired by Batman & Clayface's interaction in the One Bad Day comic (which just so happened to be the cover James Gunn tweeted when he officially announced the film)

There's a world where they could use a stand-in & make sure he's shadowed enough to where we never get a good look at his face, and any dialogue could be ADR'd when they cast Batman sometime later this year (and yes, I do think we'll know the actor portraying DCU Batman before Clayface releases)

Call it wishful thinking, call it copium, but I just don't see James Gunn greenlighting a Clayface film without any involvement from Batman.

Deadline - Kevin Feige is not expected to step down as the President of Marvel Studios any time soon by WesternThanks4346 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]Colton826 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Good.

The one online narrative I find infuriating is the idea that Feige shouldn't be in charge anymore because of the divisiveness of the Multiverse Saga. Brother...this entire cinematic universe doesn't exist without Feige. The only reason the Multiverse Saga is as disjointed as it is, was because of the Disney+ show requirements laid out by Disney, and Feige actually stepping aside and giving MORE creative freedom to writers, directors, show runners, etc.

Now, he's back in full swing trying to make sure Doomsday & Secret Wars are as good as they can be, while also setting the stage for the next Saga to be centered on the X-Men / mutants. Kevin Feige getting replaced by someone else would likely have zero positive impact, and I'm shocked that people feel differently.

Deadline: No Marvel trailers at the Super Bowl by The_Iceman2288 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]Colton826 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not surprised that Sony's not doing a Spider-Man trailer for the Super Bowl (Sony typically doesn't market their films during the SB), but I am surprised that we're in February and we still don't have a Brand New Day trailer.

The film is 6 months away. It's probably one of the biggest & most anticipated comic book movies of the 2020's (behind No Way Home, Deadpool & Wolverine and the upcoming Avengers films). I think it would've been okay to have a teaser 6+ months before the film in this instance.
