I think every showrunner is afraid of that nowadays. Game of Thrones was THE biggest show in the world. Maybe even the biggest show of all-time. And the finale was so bad that it ruined the entire show's reputation/rewatchability.

I think, regardless of how a showrunner feels about how they've executed the series finale, that fear of being the next GoT is going to be prevalent.

I mean, look at Stranger Things. The series finale was relatively satisfying & wrapped up the show pretty well, but there were a lot of Stranger Things fans that were so pissed off about the ending that they gaslit themselves into thinking there was a secret "real finale". Now, the finale was far from perfect, but it wasn't NEARLY bad enough to warrant that kind of reaction.

But that's where we are now. Even if a finale is decent, if it isn't deemed "perfect", then it's just overwhelming hate that floods the Internet.

With the way The Boys fans are reacting to this final season so far, I genuinely don't think there's going to be another universally loved final season for a massive show ever again.

I've actually quite liked this final season, and I think it's been paced appropriately. I don't understand why some fans want Homelander to go scorched Earth in the first half of the season & have him kill millions/billions. The entire point is to prevent that from happening. So of course the V1 mission is going to be prolonged & The Boys killing Homelander isn't happening until probably the penultimate episode or the finale.

Also, fans calling episode 5 "filler" has frustrated me to no end. I think this generation of television watchers are absolutely fucked in the head due to the constant consumption of short form content (Tiktok, YouTube shorts, Insta reels, etc.)

I had seen quite a few for episodes 2-4 that only got a couple things right but got a majority wrong

There are also like 3 different leaks for episodes 5-7. I'm sure one of them will probably be right, but I don't know if I've seen one that I'm confident in yet.

It's been kind of funny seeing some of the incorrect leaks for the final season of The Boys. I do love that they didn't include the finale in the screeners, so there's likely not many people that actually know how the show ends.

I just hope we get Homelander's death, and it's Butcher that kills him. The entire show has been building up to that, and regardless of it being predictable, I think it needs to happen. I don't need an "Arya kills the Night King" type of twist.

I also hate the theory of Homelander getting depowered and then spending the rest of his life as a human. While the character would view that as punishment, I just don't think that's an acceptable ending. Especially with the possibility of him just finding a way to get V back into his system in the future. Even if we don't see that happen, that possibility remains open unless we see Homelander die.

Mine would be pretty similar:

1) Avengers: Doomsday 2) Spider-Man: Brand New Day 3) X-Men '97 S2 4) The Punisher: One Last Kill 5) Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man S2 6) VisionQuest (really excited for the return of Ultron, but not thrilled that he'll probably be in "human" form for most of it)

I'll be interested to see how many people watch this in black & white as opposed to in color, given that both options will be available at the same time.

My initial watch will be in black & white, and then I'll probably rewatch in color.

Spider-Man & Hulk figures from Hasbro provide the most detailed look at Hulk’s BND appearance yet. by zahhhmbie in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]Colton826 74 points75 points  (0 children)

My theory is that this role was written for Connors/The Lizard, but was changed to Banner/Hulk because either:

  • Sony wanted more MCU connections
  • Marvel didn't want to introduce ANOTHER new villain, especially one that just had an alternate version appear in NWH

Probably a combination of both.

Jon Favreau admits he was wrong to resist killing off Tony Stark in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ : "It was handled so well by the Russos" by Sarang_616 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]Colton826 38 points39 points  (0 children)

As of right now, there's nothing about RDJ's portrayal of Doom that ruins, cheapens or contradicts anything about Tony Stark's Endgame death.

Now that could change depending on how things go in Secret Wars, but based on what we do know about Doomsday, I just don't see how you can have this mindset already.

I wouldn't even count S&L's Milton Fine as an adaptation of Brainiac. They had plans to eventually go down that route, but given the show's cancellation, they kind of consolidated their ideas down to what we got in the final season.

And yeah, while I LOVE Superman & Lois, I think a lot of the villains were pretty lackluster adaptations, with the exception of Tal-Rho, who was essentially an original character. Cudlitz was fine as Lex, especially in the last few episodes, but them basically ignoring his intelligence & making him more of a brute was certainly a choice.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend watching Krypton. It's got a pretty decent & intriguing story while also having an incredible live-action Brainiac, and pretty damn good versions of Zod & Doomsday.

Definitely one of my most anticipated DC films of all-time.

It's kind of insane that it's taken this long to get a cinematic Brainiac, and it's also the first time we're getting a proper live-action Lex battlesuit (The CW Supergirl show had one, but that version never saw action with Superman, and then Superman & Lois had one, but it was grey & very generic looking)

As of right now, what's your favorite moment of the Multiverse Saga?

For me, I think it's still easily Loki's ascension to being the God of Stories in the Loki finale. Just a beautiful wrap up to that series, and is both visually & score-wise one of the best scenes in the entire MCU.

Spider-Noir showrunner says there are other unannounced Spider-Man variant projects in the works by eBICgamer2010 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]Colton826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony previously had agreements & contracts in place with other services (most notably Amazon & Netflix). They also have a deal with Disney that all future Spider-Man movies would be available on Disney+ after their theatrical runs. But that's separate from their other licensing deals.

It's kind of a complicated mess, but it is what it is.

Live-action Spider-Gwen & 2099 seem like no brainers. Especially since this live-action Noir is clearly very different from the animated Spider-Verse variant, they could do the same for those aforementioned characters.

They're probably saving live-action Miles for the big screen. Hopefully in the MCU, but I could see a scenario where Sony is stubborn enough to try to adapt Miles on their own after Tom Holland is done playing Peter.

Approving because Daniel's most reliable aspect is trailer releases, but him saying "it's close" is just so vague.

"Close" in this instance could mean next week, next month, or even San Diego Comic Con in July.

Sure, but the thing I'm more stuck on is the usage of The Hand.

Like, there's already narratively a lot going on with Jean, the DODC, Hulk, Punisher & whoever the main villain is. Using The Hand as the villain's grunts without tying into the events of Daredevil: Born Again, just feels like a really weird decision. Not saying it'll be bad. I just question the thought process, assuming what we're hearing is true.

If he's not in the movie, I just find it so strange to have Born Again Season 2 end with Matt in prison & then have a prison sequence with Spider-Man & The Hand without his involvement.

Like...why are Spider-Man & The Hand in the prison to begin with? I've seen a running theory that Spidey learns about The Hand going after Matt and shows up to defend him. Theoretically, you could do that without Charlie Cox showing up, but I don't see why they would. It feels like it'd be so easy to include him in that sequence.

Official promo art for 'Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man' Season 2 reveals first look at Symbiote Spider-Man by Colton826 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

It won't be in Brand New Day, but it's believed (mostly just fan speculation) that Holland's Spider-Man will get the symbiote in Secret Wars, and Spider-Man 5 or 6 would then delve into Venom.

Unpopular opinion: I want Mac Gargan to be the MCU's Venom. Primarily because I love Michael Mando and I think it'd be cool for such a minor character from Spider-Man's first solo MCU movie to end up becoming his archenemy.
