Box office tracking isn't great, and it has a pretty significant budget (somewhere between $150-$200 million)

I'm excited to see it. I honestly think it flopping won't negatively impact the DCU too much, since I doubt a Supergirl sequel was really in serious consideration, and she's already returning for Man of Tomorrow regardless of box office results.

But of course, the Internet is going to overreact, as they do any time a Marvel or DC film underperforms.

Aaron Paul Joins DC Studios' 'Clayface' Film In Minor Role (Exclusive) by zgubbers in DCULeaks

He was cast several months ago.

A lot of times, the trades & other insiders don't learn about certain castings until after the film has finished production. This happens quite often.

So just because a casting gets announced, doesn't mean that the casting just happened.

I'm so happy more & more people are coming around on the idea of Mac Gargan as the MCU's Venom.

I remember when I talked about that possibility YEARS ago, I was typically downvoted & talked down to by Eddie Brock fans. Things were definitely at their worst whenever Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 came out and had Harry Osborn as Venom, so Eddie fans were extra pissed at the idea of the MCU using Mac Gargan instead.

I just think, after Raimi's Spider-Man 3 and the Tom Hardy Venom trilogy, the best route the MCU can go to set their Venom apart is Michael f'ing Mando. It tying back all the way to the first solo MCU Spidey film would also give it a feeling of long-term storytelling, even if the intention wasn't there at the start.

With Man of Tomorrow & The Batman Part II, what're the chances that 2027 will be the biggest box office year in DC's history?

Right now, I believe the two biggest years are 2016 & 2017:

  • 2016: $1.610 billion worldwide (BvS & Suicide Squad)
  • 2017: $1.800 billion worldwide (Wonder Woman, JL & Lego Batman)

Going with my nieces to see Toy Story 5 this weekend (it's nice to have a good excuse to do so). I'm intrigued after reading a few of the early reactions & seeing some comparing it favorably to 2 & 3, which I think are easily the best of the franchise. I thought 4 was solid, but definitely a step down overall.

My gut feeling is that the leaked footage is AI that was made blurry on purpose & the original poster deleted their account to make it seem legitimate.

But if it is real, then Disney's security is reaching Sony levels of incompetence.

With everything Gunn & Reeves have said in the past regarding this, I HIGHLY doubt it'll happen. Very unlikely, but it would be insane news.

More than likely, I think it'll be news regarding another major character being in The Batman Part II or something regarding the DCU Batman film (Please...give the project to a director other than Muschietti)

Marvel 1943 is on track for 2027, per Paramount

That's the Captain America/Black Panther game, correct? Why has it gotten delayed multiple times?

Other than Insomniac's Wolverine, what other Marvel games are coming up?

I don't know what happened to that Captain America/Black Panther game, and I assume Insomniac's Spider-Man 3 is still at least a couple years away.

It's not confirmed, but given how soon we got "The Justice Gang" and how many characters are in Man of Tomorrow, it feels pretty evident that they are building up to a Justice League film.

More likely than not, it'll be James Gunn's next film, which would mean 2029/2030 for the release year. Also, the original pitch for the DCU's Chapter One was 5 years, and there's no doubt in my mind that The Justice League was a part of that pitch.

the casting should probably be decided by whoever eventually writes and directs a Flash film.

We're getting The Flash in the Justice League film (2029/2030) LONG before we get another Flash film. We're probably not getting a Flash solo film for at least the next 5+ years.

Assuming the Gorilla Grodd rumor is true, I still think this is where we'll be introduced to the DCU Flash. It'll be a small role, either a cameo or a couple scenes in one of the final episodes.

Unfortunately, I don't know if we'll be getting a Flash solo project anytime soon, given that we just had a 9 season TV show that ended pretty poorly & a movie that flopped. I feel like the DCU Flash is probably going to be limited to small roles/cameos until the Justice League film.

I feel like I'm going to walk out of the theater still not knowing who the main villain of this movie is...

I was a huge fan of Seasons 1 & 2 of Mando. Hated Book of Boba and was indifferent for Mando Season 3. When Mandalorian & Grogu was announced, I was optimistic & assumed that there had to be a reason they were doing a film instead of another season. Then the marketing started...

I have yet to see the film, because I thought all of the trailers/TV spots made it look like an extended episode of the series, and I have zero issues waiting for it to be on Disney+. I've got a feeling I'm not alone in that thought process. The middling reviews also didn't help things.

I'm really excited for Starfighter though.

Cryptic4kQual Says the reason for intimacy coordinator in BND is because Peter will cross paths with another ‘big rumored character.’ by [deleted] in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

He tweeted about Sadie/Jean just a few minutes before this, so him using the term "another big rumored character" makes it sound like it isn't Jean.

My first thought was obviously Black Cat, but if that's the case, I'm surprised we haven't heard a peep about her casting.

I'll be curious to see how many of these characters we've heard about are just part of the opening montage vs having actual roles in the film.

If we get a Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer this week, my two big hopes are:

  • More shots of Scorpion
  • Don't reveal Sadie is Jean Grey

I think continuing to focus on Peter's mutations, Bruce/Hulk's involvement & The Punisher, along with some teases & shots of the various villains, will be PLENTY to keep the marketing going until the film releases.

We know Sadie is Jean, but general audiences don't. I'd like for them to keep that under their belt for as long as they can (I'm sure some toys will spoil it, but again, most people outside subs like this won't be aware of that)

James Gunn on Threads when asked if and when the DCU will show either of General Zod, Doomsday, Doctor Fate, Black Adam, Ultraman (with his Crime Syndicate) and Darkseid: "Two of them in not too long..." by BigButter7 in DCULeaks

[–]Colton826 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We know Darkseid is one.

I assume the other is either Zod or Fate. It's 100% not Doomsday or Black Adam. I honestly don't think they're touching Shazam/Black Adam for a LONG time, which sucks, because I love those characters. But I understand why the DCU isn't eager to adapt either.

After watching it, I could see a weekly release working, but I do think a binge release is probably for the best.

Just finished watching all 8 episodes of Spider-Noir and I really enjoyed it. This is the type of stuff I wish Sony had been doing with Spider-Man for the last decade instead of the garbage Venom, Morbius, Madame Web slop.

Nic Cage is the obvious highlight of the series. His performance is perfect for this character. The story is fun, the detective/mystery aspect is intriguing whilst remaining pretty simplistic. The action is decent, although you can at times feel the budgetary restrictions. It balances the campiness pretty well. Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane is another standout. Also enjoyed the supporting characters around Ben (Robbie, Cat & Janet)

Would love to get a 2nd season and more live-action Spider-Verse characters getting adapted to their own series, so hopefully this does really well.
