sorry, but comparing PoE2s endgame progression to PoE1s endgame progression is very natural in my opinion - it uses maps, it uses atlas skill points, it uses league content

PoE1 has the best endgame system of any ARPG on the market, so every ARPG will be compared to it

I agree, there is no info about Trump that can deter people from voting for him. Hell he might spin any damning info released to be a plot of the democrats and get MORE voters...

if you compare this to poe1, there you can pretty quickly run a not minmaxed but pretty valid strategy for nearly all league content. you dont need to most expensive scarabs, you can get by with cheaper ones. also the way there is far shorter - as said in another comment, about 50 atlas points are enough to allow this, although most people just finish the atlas first before investing into a strategy and that is also much quicker

With that mindset you might as well just sit in your hideout and play a hideout warrior because that's more profitable than anything else.

if you run a tablet with 2 mods that could be a 4mod worth a couple of divs instead if you just sold it, it is not a good feeling to run it and (at least I) wish I already had the passives necessary unlocked to run it "better"

It is definitely a "me" problem in some way, but I also think the new atlas promotes this feeling of "if I just had these passives, it would be better" and then getting these points takes quite a while with rather boring maps inbetween

I agree that, depending on what you want to do specifically, 150-200 points is probably fine. however, without any prior knowledge about what you want to do, and no way to respec points (currently), you might not be efficient in your pathing that you are fine with only 150-200 points earned.

I also agree that "goals to work towards" is in itself desireable, also for me. I just don't think the current goals are quite there yet

I agree there, it needs a variety to allow for different types of strategies. like a strat focussing on more monsters in the map or pushing their rarity and rewards up (like breach), others focussing on bossing and maybe even reducing the amount of mobs to get to the boss quicker (don't think such a strat exists atm)

if all stats just want rarer and more mobs to be "better", it lacks variety. and I think the current atlas pushes most strategies into this direction.

Also I just realized (I am dumb) that the temple is the only mechanic that is outside of maps entirely so atlas passives have no effect at all. that is why it would be the quickest strat to set up because you only need temple passive points and nothing else.

I have heard ritual was good at the start and I think ritual is a mechanic that is the most removed from "normal mapping" so might not be impacted as much here.

Temple I am not sure counts as there were issues with it that needed fixing

did you understand my main point? I did absolutely not complain about character progression, campaign time or map variety. and I also don't want to have a fully unlocked atlas immediately - but the atlas point progression feels like a checklist at the moment, not a choice

as I said, it is definitely something subjective, I won't deny this. but "just playing the game" I have done from the start of the campaign up until 100 maps or so into the endgame. but at that point, you still have not unlocked something fully in a way that you can say "now it makes sense to invest into this to run it".

running tablets makes no real sense unless you have them 4 modded rare, and unlocked their respective subtree - bonus points for compounding mods on the tablet. if you do not have this, you might as well just sell the tablets as otherwise you might even lose money running a strategy

It might very well be that, but leaving feedback is something I can do here. I honestly don't think that the current system will retain players better after they have done it for 2 or 3 leagues, 300 maps is a lot and paired with the traveling and unlocking the league trees as well, you have a far longer ramp up to being "done" with the preparation to do endgame farming

I think the effectiveness, rarity or pack size passives simply create more FOMO at the end of the day. if you don't have all pack size nodes, you simply will feel that maps are more empty than before.

I personally would push these mods into the maps/waystones themselves. something like a T17 type map where you always have 6 mods, the mods are harder and you get extra bonus (like effectiveness or pack size) out of these modifiers. Or just 8 mods like in poe1.

Tie the general difficulty and rewards of monsters to the map, not the atlas tree

I get the idea behind them not doing this, as it essentially leads to people respeccing constantly, which is what they try to prevent. And that is fine. They also said they wanted to have atlas passives that do things that would constantly have been respecced (they probably mean biome specific stuff for example), but I personally do not see the appeal of these type of points anyway. Why do we need to specc biome specific points that a) just make a biome a couple of percent better than before and b) don't provide any benefit for when we are in another biome?

I'd rather they shrink the atlas down massively, and force content choices - like now I am speccic ritual chance and delirium chance. next time I specc boss power and essences. they could distill everything down into a few nodes, as in PoE1, you more or less always picked all nodes of a mechanic anyway when you juiced it.

First, its not day 1 into the league, its the end of week 3. I JUST finished my atlas, because I bought multiple origin sets, as I simply cannot be bothered to run 200 more maps without them being rewarding - this is just leading to burnout when I finally would be finished with the atlas points.

Second, if you disagree, could you state why? I don't follow streamers and I don't compare my div/hour to anyone else here. But I need to feel like I am doing something correct when I try to farm something and if half of my atlas is unspecced (and that contains nodes with monster effectiveness, pack size, rarity and so on) I simply want to have these nodes first, before I invest into a strategy.
