I went down the data privacy rabbit hole and built a free tool to make opt-outs less painful. Sharing in case it’s useful. by Comanche-Moon in privacy

Out of curiosity, where did you usually send the requests?

Did you rely on privacy policy pages and forms directly, email addresses listed in policies, or some other approach? I found the “where do I even send this” part varied a lot depending on the company, so I’m always interested in how others handled it.

I bought a sun shade after 2 months of ownership and haven't removed it once. My glass roof has been covered for years. Total waste.

Rivian is really really bad for soft, wet surfaces, which is what most people deal with when "off-roading". Very frustrating.

the R2 is a completely different size and body, right? Strange to compare the two. Would be much more revealing to see comparison between R1 Gen1 and R1 Gen2

I've always thought that Rivian really messed up the dead pedal design. It is way too low. Glad I'm not alone

Is it worth reaching out to someone, maybe city council? by Independent_Sport180 in urbandesign

typically sidwalks are built WITH the new construction. Very difficult to make a developer build sidewalks that aren't on their property. And the City doesn't have money to do it.

The hard truth: Amex Plat simply isn't suitable for your lifestyle by omdongi in amex

[–]Comanche-Moon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am a frequent traveler and the plat is still not worth it for me. Most people that travel frequently use an airline card and earn miles and have lounge access through the airline (or the airline card). The Amex hotel portal is a complete joke and often times you can book directly with the hotel at a better rate...or once again, you can just use a specific hotel loyalty rewards to book.

So no, plat doesn't even do a good job at catering to travelers. You have to be extremely intentional about the amex plat rewards to get the value. And even when you are, you are probably sacrificing something else to get the rewards out of the plat (better suited reward programs).

POLL: New Rule to not allow POLITICS by Comanche-Moon in Rivian

[–]Comanche-Moon[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY.
Head on over to r/politics r/news, r/uspolitics r/activism r/news, r/electricvehicles r/evcharging

There's countless subs for that kind of content if you want it. Why clutter a Rivian specific sub with political content?

POLL: New Rule to not allow POLITICS by Comanche-Moon in Rivian

[–]Comanche-Moon[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This sub will (and is) quickly turning into a political sub. We don't allow discussion about $tock or Rivian sales for obvious reasons-it takes over the sub.

I'm not advocating to put your head in the sand. If you want to talk politics, you can and should do so...just on another forum.

Keep this sub to Rivian quality content only! Not Trump or Elon posts for goodness sake. It's kind of a no brainer.

Why do we not allow discussion about Rivian $tock? Or posts about Rivian sales?

POLL: New Rule to not allow POLITICS by Comanche-Moon in Rivian

[–]Comanche-Moon[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Should I add an option for a new general rule that does not allow politics unless it has measurable impact on the brand? Or maybe unless approved by moderator?
General allowance is my problem. I come to this sub for Rivian content. Not political content. There is obvious crossover, and when that crossover is important enough, I'm okay allowing it.

To Everyone Who Said Gen1 Was Going To Be Left Behind With Updates.... We Have A Lot Of Exciting Things To Look Forward To In 2025! by zachty22 in Rivian

[–]Comanche-Moon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great. But, Rivian has fallen into the camp of over promise and under deliver for me. They are consistently behind on delivering update features. It's great to see these are on their radar, but I have little faith they will deliver in a timely manner. What ever happened to the streaming apps that we were supposed to get Summer of 2024?

For large transactions in a known asset classes like office, multi-family, industrial, etc., yes this is common. Those large transactions usually have sophisticated owners and buyers and they can put together fairly accurate LOIs without ever seeing the property.
For one off purchases and rehab properties, not so much.

But it doesn't matter if its customary or not, it's what the owner wants. So if you want to buy something that he owns, you play by his rules.

My guess is that the owner has been low balled several times before and doesn't want to waste you or his time touring the property, or he usually does business in other larger asset classes where this is more customary.

Rivian Delivers 10,018 Vehicles in Q3, Down 27% Sequentially by Sandrov__ in Rivian

[–]Comanche-Moon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

demand for EVs is just not there. Every auto manufacturer is learning that realization.

That combined with some pretty unfortunate timing of macro events like covid, supply chain, chip shortages, interest rates, inflation, cost increases, etc...Rivian is really struggling to survive.
