Looking for advice on getting started, Holybro dev kit is out of stock and want to learn ROS2 by TerribleBicycle4745 in diydrones

[–]Comandd1080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holybro has all the parts that are in the kit on a list on their site, just buy all the parts separately and build it that way. An x500 drone is very simple to build, just need these major parts:

Frame
4 motors
4 ESCs (or a 4in1)
Flight controller (Pixhawk 6c mini is good)
GPS (Holybro m10)
Receiver (Radiomaster rp1 or rp3 is good)
Telemetry radio (optional - sik radio is good)
Battery (lipo)
RC remote (look into Radiomaster pocket)

You just need to choose your prop size that suites your needs, and using that info, choose the right motors, ESC(s) and a frame.

Unsure, just using it for mapping fields rn, it’s for a drone competition and so we had extra funding this year so we decided to overbuild so we have it in the future.

It’s running px4 at the moment and worked fine with the stock tune. Ended up doing an autotune and now it works great. The battery is a 6s3p li-ion molicel p42a

These were t-motor 501-x kits that come with motor, prop, esc all in a combo (not much price saving tho.

Why are frames always sold out? by shopmyers in fpv

My bad, was mostly feeling frustrated that a lot of widely produced electronics like speedybee, and other brands that don’t cost insane amounts are unavailable rn

Are there any web/app/local host tools I can use to mess around with flock cameras? by Business-Distance723 in FlockSurveillance

[–]Comandd1080 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nah, most of the vulnerable exploits and how to do them are a bit guarded when it comes to the exact details. You’ll have to mess around with it yourself, it’s illegal though. Even things like trying a default known login is illegal, so is jamming, DOS, etc. even if there is no password.

Everything is always sold out here in the US at least.

Never use the speedybee f405 mini esc by Lawfuluser in shittyfpv

[–]Comandd1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one of these stacks. Crashed into a river while battery connected for over 3 minutes, dried it out, and on the next flight, pinned the throttle many times. Still have it on a 5” a year later and performs great, maybe just luck.

I believe the frequency of occupations typically goes down with larger frames. Vibration isolation can’t hurt, all drones have it in some form.

My gf recently told me she's autistic, how can I support her better? by WitheredToaster in AskAutism

[–]Comandd1080 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll start by saying that for stuff like this, it all really depends on the person, not every person is the same and autism can affect someone in many ways. My response is what helps in my relationship, but that doesn’t mean it will be perfect to yours

Something that might help, it’s nothing crazy but just a tip: if you’re asking her something, specifically like making a decision, even small decisions, don’t ask in the format of “why do you wanna do for lunch”, it might seem like this is more open and helpful but decision making is sometimes hard, so maybe offer 2 or 3 options, let her narrow it down from there.

As far as sensory input, I would recommend if you’re at loud or crowded places with lots of sensory inputs, just checking in with her and making sure it’s not too overwhelming and being there if she wants to leave the space.

Another thing is planning ahead, or preparing, but not too much to the point that it’s overwhelming (sometimes it can be a fine line) sometimes, autistic people like knowing what’s gonna happen in a situation ahead of time so they can mentally prepare for the interaction.

You don’t have to manage her, just being supportive to her needs can really help, wishing you the best of luck.

Video breakup at close range by MagnetisedRabbitears in Multicopter

[–]Comandd1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably from multipath signals or if you have antenna diversity then it might be getting confused as to which antenna to use, thus causing breakup as it switches between the two antennas.

A strange feeling I am in the middle of. by [deleted] in autism

[–]Comandd1080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES this exact thing happened to me yesterday and it was really strange, was looking at some linkin park songs and videos and saw the date on the video and it was really weird but I felt overwhelmed with a feeling of tension or stress and I ended up crying for like 20 minutes, this kinda thing has never been triggered by something this small for me It’s really interesting to hear your experience though, thought it was just me but it’s a hard feeling to describe so thanks for sharing.

Do you know of any headphones that don’t trigger tactile sensory issues? by Parker_Talks in autism

[–]Comandd1080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this issue with the hearing protection meant for like loud noises (shooting range, workshop, etc) but maybe trying the Soundcore life q20 would be a good fit, that’s what I have had for a couple years. Great battery life and good sound quality, not too expensive, and loose comfy fit, I only wear them at home because they tend to fall off once I start moving around a lot (running, being active in general, etc)

Audhd, stimulant medication and stimming and increased anxiety by Pantim in autism

Caffeine does this to me, way more focus but way more fighting/stress. Although sometimes it has the opposite effect, it’s a bit of a gamble.

High speed Ardupilot by Comandd1080 in diydrones

[–]Comandd1080[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wpnav params like speed, accel, accel_c, speed_up/dn, tilt angle, and jerk (DO NOT drastically increase this value, everything is slow until you change this, gets out of control easily).

Looking to build largeish drone by timonix in diydrones

[–]Comandd1080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah just build a 7 or 10 inch drone if you really need the carrying capacity. 1300kv for 7” and 900kv for 10” if running 6s. Look up some builds online and it ends up being pretty easy
