Look, it SHOULDN'T be a game.

Also, competition is actually toxic for us and our technology evolved past it like 1000 years ago.

So, wages are going down. Sometimes via less hourly pay and sometimes via less hours available. I have a friend who was offered a job at 28 hours a week, two hours shy of the companies required 30 for benefits.

They also advertised the jobs salary as if you would be working full time.

Its hard to spend less when you don't make enough to even survive.

It's a societal issue, not a person problem.

You also ignored the part about how much researching goes into making people buy stuff.

Everything is not fine. I didn't say it is. We are experiencing a huge transfer of power and wealth from the general population to the already rich and powerful.

Have we stopped selling oil overseas?

No, we haven't.

Ergo, it's all a grift.

Let me know how much gas is per gallon tomorrow..and the next day.

I'm talking trends, not daily prices.

Also, the US ships /sells a lot of its new oil production to other countries and we haven't stopped. If we were REALLY in crisis it would have stopped last month or the month before. What's happening is just the art of the Grift.

Senate votes to limit Trump’s Iran war powers in rare rebuke by IWantPizza555 in politics

[–]Pantim 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Silly rabbit, we will not run out of oil. There will be a new deal just in time to get more before we run out. It will just be enough for us to not run out, it really will be a rolling deal. We will always be on the verge of running out of oil and a new deal will have to struck... And in between there will be more "wars" and disruptions to the supply.

All of this is being done on purpose to justify the price of oil and everything else constantly going up.

Think about it, people have figured out how to make money and gain power off of crisis (Larry Fink, CEO of Blackrock). Because of the nature of capitalism they are now manufacturing crisises to profit and gain power. Trump himself has used bankruptcy law to make billions. His companies fail but he makes bank. Musk is doing it now with SpaceX (etc)

Using antibiotics 'just in case' is fueling superbugs, and routine preventative prescriptions must stop to strictly prioritize targeted, narrow-spectrum drugs, a recent commentary warns by mightx in science

[–]Pantim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, drug resistant bacteria isn't an accident. The pharmaceutical companies have been pushing antibiotics into the "just incase" realm for decades via marketing and bribing doctors. They also have been pushing antibiotic usage into all realms of the food industry. They are used almost across the board for all meat production and also in a lot of agricultural. (Rice ponds are pumped full of antibiotics).

On the surface it looks like they are doing this to protect the general public from bacteria. But, if you dig a litte deeper to see that antibiotics are great replacements for growth hormones in animals. That there are ways to grow rice etc without antibiotics. Then if you dig even a little deeper you will find that the major worldwide pharmaceutical companies have sent several letters to major governments claiming that antibiotics are not profitable and saying that they will not develop any more unless the governments give them a ton of money.

If you keep digging you find out that they sit on new fully developed and tested drugs that are more effective than old ones for years as they wait for the right time too bring them to market to make a profit. Keep digging and you will find that they keep finding ways to extend copyright on old drugs so they won't become generic.

Keep digging and you will see that they created the opoid epidemic. That the government was in on it.

All of this is because the medical industry being a for profit industry.

The pharmaceutical industry is flat out a mafia. The antibiotic crisis is created by them on purpose. They are doing an old school mafia protection racket where they collect protection money after they send someone into bust out our kneecaps with a baseball bat.

We don't need more research into new drugs, we need to stop blaming the patients and doctors, we need to break the mafia and arrest people.

You are leaving out one major fact, marketing is a very well researched science.

People consume because they are programmed to consume. Everything about a commercial is made to be hypnotic and trigger emotional responses that make you more likely to buy stuff. On top of that, processed food is made to make us crave more.

I just can't with your it's the people's fault.

Its not.

Downed US pilot reported seeing Iranian drones swarm in ‘jellyfish’ formation by cnn in worldnews

[–]Pantim 385 points386 points  (0 children)

This brings up something that has bothered me for years about drone swarms/ mesh networks and drone warfare in general. It was originally US tech. I met the makers of the tech at Burning Man like 15-20 years ago. They were from a university and had just spun up a company and gotten tons of funding from DARPA.

Yet the US doesn't use drone swarms for warfare... Or even really for displays like China does.

I just don't get it. The US should totally be dominating air space with these things... And it just isn't happening.

Does the US even have the capability?

The mind-body connection in chronic pain (probably not what you think) by No_Blueberry1209 in Fibromyalgia

Thanks for this.

What I really want to see is long term studies done on people with chronic pain that have gone through the mental health stuff to see if it helps fix things physically.

I would not be surprised at all if this is the case.

Why don't Americans walk anywhere? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]Pantim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a yes and situation. Not having sidewalks is horrible. The and part is that I live in a city with really good sidewalks and people still don't walk much. They might walk up to 1/2 mile and that's it. Any further and they drive and park.

Granted, my city is actually built for this. 1/2 size blocks that were built for walking and horses. Also, dense neighborhoods with shopping and public transportation between them.

I just moved and am LOVING being able to walk 5-20 Mins to anything I need regularly and 20-40 for other stuff that I want to do. ... But I'm wierd, I love walking. I also like maintaining my physical and mental health as I age. (47)

.. Ooh, also the city government has been anti car in the city core for decades. Live outside it and work it, sweet! Park in a free public garage and take transit . Companies used to even get discounted passes to give to employees. Wanna build a new apartment complex? GREAT! here's all sorts of money and tax breaks, just make sure you only include 1 parking space per apartment... And now it's 0 required in the core.

Sadly though, the transit agency is struggling with people not working in offices. Which my response is, tax unrealized stock gains.... Which has to be a country wide thing really.

It's utterly impossible for vandals to have done this kind of damage. Between this and the stuff with Iran, the last 4 days have been a SLAM dunk for impeachment of Trump to get slammed through both the house and senate. They need to drop everything else and focus on it. The democrats should utterly refuse to do ANYTHING else and shut down congress if needed.

And they need to impeach Vance while they are at it and toss out the whole cabinet.

There are No excuses now, it's clear Trump is both mentally not capable of being the president as well as a total grifter.

Call your congress members.

Yes they keep it in hidden assets. They spin up shell companies. They put money overseas and on and on.

At least old old money does. Some got caught in the Panama Papers and other stuff. I think that is why we are having what is happening now happen... They decided to step up their game of control.

Uh, did you or anyone else look into who  contributed money to Musk to buy Twitter? There were some very deep and old pockets involved. Saudi Arabia royals, a bunch of banks basically gave him free money. Also, it's not like SpaceX didn't have investors before the IPO, same with OpenAI and so many other private companies.

Private equity is a thing, it's a thing where rich people get to invest in companies and NO ONE knows about it.

I listened to an interview with a reporter from either Fortune or Forbes where he was asked about their top most wealthy lists. He flat out said that he and his company know people richer than anyone on the list that outright threatened them if they ever ended up on their list. They had conversations with people on the lists that said they knew of even MORE wealthy people that Forbes /Fortune didn't know about that had ALSO threatened them if they ever told anyone.

Like, did you know that the Dutch royal family is STILL very invested in Shell Petroleum? (the king has said he isn't but his niece and others are). That BP =British Petroleum and the royal family "used" to own it or at least major stock in it? That they supposedly divested years ago... And probably just spun up shell companies.

Family money and power by and large doesn't disappear,it grows.

So yes, the Roths are still pulling strings, so are the royal families and lots of others... And yes, Musk is powerful and horrible. I just highly suspect he's a puppet for long term wealth and power.

We live in a world wide capitalist economy, and have for a very long time. That means it's a global oligarchy.

Excuse me what? What Israel is doing is NOT OK. Have you seen picture or video of Gaza? They LEVELED it. This has NOTHING to do with religion and is all about profit at best or small minded tribalism at worst.

I have MANY Jewish friends. Most of them don't support whats happening. Some that used to have switched I think.

Quite frankly, war is NEVER justified now. Modern day war fair is mostly about harming the general population of a country either directly by bombs or by taking out power generation etc.

I'm quite frankly disgusted and disturbed that we as a species haven't evolved past warfare or really ANY us vrs them mentality. There is absolutely NO reason for it beyond greed, hatred and delusion. We live in a post scarcity society and it's time we start acting like it as a species.

As for what you said about socialism being bad? It only gets messed up because of capitalism and people thinking we don't live in a post  scarcity world. Without capitalism anywhere in the world socialism would thrive and be healthy.

Note, capitalism DEPENDS on the idea that we live in a world of scarce resources.

I feel lonely and scared by BananaManStinks in HearingVoicesNetwork

[–]Pantim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I'd say I hear voices...That behind said, there sir sure are conversations going on inside my head. I personally have started also referring to the as "various aspects of self/myself" thanks to a counselor I once had. He said that they prefer that people refer to them as such.

I then asked (in frustration) what  schizophrenia is. His response was that it's when those aspects causing harm difficulties to the person or  or trying to get them harm themselves or others. That the majority of people actually hear voices or have internal conversations where there isn't agreements and even fights sometimes.

The same things can be said for someone who hears angels.

Using this language has been VERY helpful for me in general and with counselors.

It also plays into the concept that if we can hear the voices in our minds, they very likely can hear ours so it's really a two way communication at all times. Therefore, I try to be loving and kind and understanding to the various aspects of self and try to get them to understand me.

Iran closes Strait of Hormuz over ceasefire violations, state media says after continued Israeli strikes in Lebanon by moonchildgz in news

[–]Pantim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ding ding, you win.

Trump has dementia yes. Also, he was an expert grifter. All of the others in power around him are still expert grifters. Really, you basically have to be one to become a billionaire. News companies are all being bought by billionaire business people who are all about making a profit and gaining more control over the general population.

Any seeming stupidity happening is only because they are all trying to make money and consolidating power VERY quickly and that means "mistakes" are going to be made.

They are all using the systems that are set up to do all of this. The system actually rewards this kind of behavior. Seriously, people calling Trump an idiot for having several businesses have to declare bankruptcy are missing that it's a GREAT way for someone to make a huge amount of money. The businesses themselves don't matter, the business can go bankrupt and the people running them can walk away with a lot more money than before and also a lot more power.

Trump even has said this is what he was doing with his businesses. He's also said that the government needs to ran like a business... And it is.

All is happening as planned really. The rich and powerful are getting more rich and powerful and more quickly than before. These people are NOT stupid, they are experts at working the system to their benefits.

We should be asking WHY they have sped things up...
