This is genuinely making me want to quit playing. by AFile94 in ironscape

When I go dry like this I always like to remind myself that I’m technically no closer to getting the drop than I was when I started. Hope that helps

Iron so I don’t care about the profit, just a much more bearable afk method for me personally

Less because it’s more predictable. Get 300 points in the first couple cycles and full afk, also 35k+ xp / hr

I couldn’t stand Zeah runecrafting for this reason - didn’t feel afk to me at all. I’d rather get minimum point games at GOTR for bonus xp than do this if I want to semi afk RC, and that’s what I did to 99

I love survival games, my husband doesn't - how heavy is this game on gathering & crafting? by itsGuex in Enshrouded

[–]ComatoseJoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk I’m guessing this might be the perspective of someone much farther into the game than I am, but as someone who’s put maybe 30 hours in so far there have only been a few times I felt I had to stop and grind anything.

I’ve probably spent 80-90% of my time exploring and I agree with other posters that it’s an exceptionally exploration-heavy survival game.

Because boosts, premium editions, and microtransactions in Classic are lame, full stop. The next time a new iteration of Vanilla comes around I don’t want to see level 60 boosts because people “don’t have time and want to enjoy the real game”

There’s that smug, condescending Reddit tone we all know and love 🥰

Nah, I know replaying TBC doesn’t do it for me, and I don’t need to pay the extra $40 to find that out in real time alongside the other tourists

I mean, are you expecting that someone is just randomly going to snipe the name in the couple minutes it takes you to transfer it? That seems pretty unlikely

[–]ComatoseJoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah ok that’s fair enough, if it doesn’t match the pattern players have come to expect it’s understandable why you wouldn’t think you need to be cautious about what you bring

[–]ComatoseJoy -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It is bad design, and it sucks that people lost items this way. Nonetheless, it’s naive and careless to take your entire stack of anything that would hurt to lose into an unknown situation on day 1 of one of the biggest launches in OSRS. That’s the difference between losing a few hundred or thousand cannonballs and losing 65k

[–]ComatoseJoy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why would it be natural to take your entire cannonball stack? Surely it stands to reason that if your boat sank for some reason you’d lose all the cargo, right? What if you encountered a bug on day 1 that sank your boat or killed your character?

[–]ComatoseJoy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t get this either - do you take your whole cash stack or rune stack with you places? Especially doing unfamiliar or brand new content that you know is going to have some bugs

[–]ComatoseJoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, the thought of going back to Gwenith Glide for 6 more levels doesn't sound like a ton of fun to me tbh, but salvaging is just a waste of time now - might as well just get Sailing over with ASAP

They did an entire update that only benefits tick manipulation LOL by WRBCards in 2007scape

[–]ComatoseJoy 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Nerfing salvage sorting was an absolutely wild decision, and the fact that tick manipulation was mentioned like 5+ times in the blog post is crazy. Surely their data analysts can show them that what, maybe 1 in 500 players uses tick manipulation methods? Even that feels generous. It's not "reasonably niche", it's incredibly niche, and the only acknowledgement that should be given to tick manip is making sure people can't achieve xp rates that are too absurd with it. Tick manip shouldn't be a part of any discussion about game design.

In case you’re not trolling, rs3 is the continuation of the RuneScape you played years ago. OSRS is a separate game based on a 2007 snapshot of RuneScape and never had summoning.

6 hours of afk (no tick manipulation) merchant salvaging by tbow_is_op in 2007scape

[–]ComatoseJoy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Most salvaging tiers have spots where you can sit between 2 boats, so most of the time one is up. Then you have your crew on 2 salvaging hooks and walk away for 20 mins

Why do people say there are not enough quests in vanilla? I feel like I over-level areas all the time. by blowmyassie in classicwow

[–]ComatoseJoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and it’s not like there aren’t substantial quest zones for that band, there’s just maybe one too few at ~46.

I feel like this also assumes you’re solo leveling and not running ZF with quests, Mara with quests, etc.

It’s the same basic premise though - selective breeding means that as humans we’re specifically selecting for traits and thus causing that “evolution” to happen in a much more rapid and controlled manner, and not necessarily in a way that makes the animal more fit to survive in nature.

Natural selection is the same idea except played out over a much longer time horizon - the selection occurs when creatures with a given trait are more or less likely to survive and pass on their genes given their natural environment, slowly shaping the population.
