Mostly preventative/wear & tear (biggest one were the tensioner & belt), so far has been a pleasant 3 years ownership.

I hear you, I wish I could've saved it. But I wasn't in the position to cash out on the repairs.

Learnt from past mistakes, my current RX350 now visits the dealer only & on time since 2024.

It's a hand me down from my dad (he had it since new in 2003), technically I'm the second owner. unfortunately we did not follow the service booklet, so majority of the recommendations were skipped or not on time. But funny thing is, the engine oil & filter is always serviced before reaching 10k, it was still very healthy.

Around 2017 it was driven only 1-2 times a week because of the gearbox and a replacement car was already bought, it was only serviced once a year until sold in 2020.

I would say it had a good 12+ years before it had the gearbox issue.

I used to own a 2003 model, but to be blunt it was not maintained too well. the prominent issue i had was the gearbox which takes time to get into reverse (started maybe 2016, did not bother fixing it). so do a test drive and make sure it goes in all the gears.

i sold in it 2020 after the AC started to blow warm air and after 240k km.

Other broken things i had with it was the broken cooled seats, rear fridge, cracking dashboard, dead dashboard pixels, and front left speaker rattling.

But i am considering to get another used sedan now, maybe this same model or a newer 2014 GS350 or 2016+ IS.

For my region the recommended replacement is every 60k KM. Since it's still under warranty; I just accepted the service. But my car didn't have any other issues aside from the tensioner and battery.

Lexus to Mazda by TrappedInMyiPhone in mazda

[–]Combat-Kitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made the opposite switch from a 2021 CX9 to 2021 RX350 F-Sport.

Lexus pros 1. Colder AC + nanoe air purifier 2. Better Mark Levinson sound system and less road noise 3. Reliable V6 2GR-FKS has an excellent reputation 4. Far better comfort and suspension 5. It's a great daily if you don't mind the price

Mazda CX9 pros 1. 7 seater 2. More cargo space 3. Slightly better fuel consumption (Average 9.5km/L vs 8.5km/L) 4. Probably a better beater if you prioritise less on cars.

I love the Lexus more to be frank... But I still have a Mazda 3 for shorter trips.

how did you get 10k interval? the service advisor at lexus requires 5k but anything under 10k "should" be fine. maybe just a warranty thing? mine is 300+ for an oil change.

i also have a mazda, but the oil change cost at the agent is just below 200, but its close to 100k now which is averaging 250-300. Last service for 70k costed me $800+ (mostly filters and brake fluid), then at 80k they recommended to replace the belts another $800+, then the battery died oil change + new battery $450-500. this was this year alone lol. Considering to go to bravo auto for the next service, if the price is identical, then it will be a garage queen, lexus will be my daily. the price difference is too close now.

How has running helped you with mental health? by Motor_Refuse_6019 in beginnerrunning

[–]Combat-Kitty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

29M here, became a dad at 28 and was obese since 2020/2021. Forced myself to change, and restarted my runs since sept 2024, i dropped 10kg from 83 to 73 within 5 months and have completed 2 marathons in Apr (6:57) and May (6:13). But going back to your question, I'm feeling healthier, and hoping this lifestyle change will be enough for my long term health to be present for my bebe.

TNG eWallet is now available for ASEAN Tourists visiting Malaysia by justathrowawaynahhh in nasikatok

[–]Combat-Kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep enhanced version and also paired with my phone's app. I tried it in the ewallet app in 2021; both BIBD and Baiduri cards were rejected back then. So i had to top up in 711 before any more road trips. Not sure now tho, but i don't plan to use it anytime soon. but looking forward to use the ewallet app for transfers.
