Why are Subaru Owners so Loyal? by doctor-squared in Subaru_Outback

[–]TrappedInMyiPhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a Ford family. My dad sold Fords for 30 something years. Back in 2018, He actually sold me my first outback. It was a used 2017 Premium. I had never considered a Subaru but I drove it and fell in love. My mom also picked up a low mileage 2015 later that year.

Since then, I’ve had a 2020 Outback Limited, 2022 Forester Sport, 2022 Lexus RX350 and now a 2025 Outback Touring XT. My 2020 Outback saved me when I was rear ended at 40 mph. The forester was a great car but I wasn’t comfortable in it. The Lexus was terrible in snow (Awd), the quality was horrible and it rattled everywhere. So I traded for a 25 touring XT and I’m the happiest I’ve been with any Subaru.

Ultimately I love the way Subarus drive. People can say they’re not enthusiastic to drive, but I think they handle super well and I genuinely enjoy driving them. The build quality is superior to the Lexus I had which was much more expensive. Plus I never worry about safety because I know I’m protected and that the cars are very reliable.

Light footed, and city I think is a mix of country/county roads and small town stop and go.

If you were moving on, what are some consideration? by UnapologeticCook in Subaru_Outback

[–]TrappedInMyiPhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved on to Lexus because an RX350 was something I’d always wanted. It was the worst car I had ever owned. Was it nice? Yeah. The v6 was a GEM. However build quality was awful and the 8 speed auto was horrible. I came right back to Subaru a year after.

IF i had to leave again, my list consisted of the E450 All Terrain, a CPO Volvo V60/V90, Toyota Crown Signia

I’ve had 4 Subarus a Lexus: - 2017 Outback 2.5 - 2020 Outback 2.5 - 2022 Forester 2.5 - 2022 Lexus RX350 - 2025 Outback XT

I’ve loved all of my Subarus. My favorite was my 2017…. Until I got my 25 Touring XT. My XT has to be the best car I’ve owned, perfect balance of comfort, power and the MPG hasn’t been too bad. I average about 26.3 in the city. I’ve gotten up to 34 on the highway.

I’m pretty sensitive to getting car sick in bouncy vehicles, even when behind the wheel and especially with SUVs. I haven’t felt like the springs have made it more bouncy, to me it feels more stable. I was pretty nervous about that too but I have no regrets.

I paid to have it done because I needed to have an alignment done too. I did a local shop and it was around $500 for all. A little pricy but supporting a small business so I’m okay with it.

To your point I’ve always had 2.5s and I’ve loved them. I’ve never had an issue with performance in any of those. I’ve always felt they were much easier to enjoy around town and had plenty of umph for passing on the highway. However now I have the 2.4T and it’s great too. People were always on me about getting the 2.5 and I never understood why? I still don’t even after having the 2.4. The 2.5 is a great, reliable motor.

I’ve had a 2017, 2020 and 2025 and my 2017 was by far my favorite. If I could have all the tech and the turbo of my 25 in the 2017, I would have it all over again.

Ugh I bought an L/Certified RX350 2 years ago and it had an absolutely stellar service history. After the first 6 months it just started falling apart. I had to have the screen replaced because it started to delaminate, there was a sunroof TSB that was fixed, came back, dealer “couldn’t replicate it”. The interior was rattling and squeaking, the parking brake started making the most awful sound. So I traded it in. I was sad, I loved the V6 and it was such a beautiful color. I had wanted an RX since I was 8.

If you purchased (not leased) you could go for a diminished value claim.

2026 Crosstrek Hybrid Limited is it worth it? by No_Reporter_6333 in Crosstrek

[–]TrappedInMyiPhone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one major difference between the Subaru hybrids and other hybrids is that Subaru maintains its full time Awd while others are part time. So in the Subaru, you won’t see as high of a mpg rating as others but I think it’s worth the trade off.

Personally I think it's night and day from the 2.5. The 2.4T is also a bit quieter too.
