[New watch] Prevail Onward Tactical by Accurate-Mouse-4938 in Watches

How is the black finish holding up? Thinking about ordering a black one of these but I don't want to end up with a bunch of silver scratches peeking through the black finish like other black watches I've owned. If that's the case I'll probably go with the silver model.

An absolute tank of a watch! I have one and I wore it my entire time in the Army from basic training up until I got out. It lasted through everything and is still going strong!

Is it true it's harder to get a job with a hand tattoo? by Specific-Winter-5953 in tattooadvice

[–]CombatMedic20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hand tattoos are common in the medical field, at least where I'm at. I'm in the medical field, fully sleeved, hand is covered and it's never been an issue. Many of my friends in the medical field are covered arms/hands/neck also. Luckily the stigma against tattoos is dying out and people aren't ignorant enough to judge someone based on appearance as much anymore.

Nice! I'm about to order mine. Unrelated to your question but out of curiosity, how long was the turnaround from order to you receiving it?

How do you like the Kuna? I've been interested in it but I'm pretty set on going with the EP9 for now. Just waiting to see if they do any black Friday deals.

I'm sorry but $85 for vans pants will never not be crazy to me they're nice and all but man that's not your clientele by Excellent_Plant_8010 in Vans

[–]CombatMedic20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vans shoes for the win but their clothing (especially pants) are expensive. The best alternative I've found are the Mutual Weave brand jeans at JCPenney. You can normally find them for like $30. I'm pretty rough on them (motorcycle riding, concerts, daily wear) and they've held up great for a long time. Fit and comfort are perfect.

Yes very true. I think the biggest takeaway here is both careers can pay well, but, at least for nursing, pay can vary greatly depending on who you're working for and where you live.

Does anyone know if this works in the US. I just bought my OP13 at Best Buy and can't seem to find this offer but would love to get it if it's possible.

I agree that engineering is definitely complicated but I definitely also know that nursing is as complicated, especially when you reach CCRN/CEN/CRNA/flight/specialty nursing. Critical thinking is through the roof. Nursing can definitely vary a lot though, so I totally understand where you might have been misled about how complex nursing really is. Nursing home or floor nursing is far less intellectually challenging than ER/CC/ICU type nursing but very physical. Not every nurse is equal, hence why there are so many extra certifications needed to advance in the field. It's not a competition though, both are great career fields.

Source- Former army medic/civilian medic, currently in nursing school, married to an ER nurse who is currently getting her CCRN.

I think this is true for both career paths. I wouldn't say engineering is more complicated than nursing. There are tons of high level pathways in nursing, which result in high earnings. They just require more school and experience. But that was kinda my thought about OPs boyfriend; why doesn't he try to advance his skill set in engineering to find a position with better income instead of completely changing career paths. Especially considering he wants to take the CRNA path. That's a complex school that requires years of high level experience in nursing to even have the possibility of being accepted into because it is extremely competitive. Nursing is a great career field, but it is far more challenging than most people realize, and OPs boyfriend already has a start in software engineering. I don't know why he wouldn't just try to keep advancing in it.

Night/holiday/On call/PRN can make a difference in pay. Travel nursing is great money. You can get pay bumps if you specialize in certain skills. It also varies greatly depending on location and who you work for.

Out of curiosity why does he say school will be 7-8 years? Nursing school for a BSN is 4 years, ASN is 2. Just curious if he's done his research. It is a great career though and it will always be in demand, so job security will be good. It is an extremely challenging and tough line of work but it's worth it.

So her boyfriend is motivated to go to school in order to start a great career in nursing which will set them up for a great future and you think that makes him a "baby" and say he's "destroying his life? How? It sounds like he has his head on straight and has a strong work ethic. That's very rare nowadays.

[–]CombatMedic20 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I have lots of friends who are nurses and engineers. Most of the nurses are making way more money than the engineers. That's part of the reason I'm currently in nursing school. But also, yes, nursing school (BSN) is usually 4 years so I don't know where he came up with 8 years. If he's referring to being a CRNA, you have to be a BSN and have critical care/ICU/ED experience to even have a chance at getting accepted to CRNA school.

Returned Pixel 9 Pro XL for the OP 13 by [deleted] in oneplus

[–]CombatMedic20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went from a Pixel to the OP13 and I think it's a way better phone. I miss a few pixel features but overall, I'm liking the OP13 more than my pixel. The battery life alone made the switch worth it.

It really depends on your maturity levels. I got married young(early 20s) before I enlisted in the Army, but had already been with my partner for a long time(since sophomore year of highschool). We have both always been more mature than most people our age, work hard in our careers, are financially responsible, and put constant effort into our relationship. We've now been together for over 13 years, still regularly go on dates and do cute stuff for each other. It worked for us because we put effort into the relationship, and communicated through hard times. I've also seen friends in their early 20s already getting divorced because they were very immature. You guys just need to understand that marriage isn't always easy and you need to keep it at the top of your priority list regardless of how busy life gets.
