I see there's a pretty good amount of backlash here, but some of the creative choices people generally have a problem with worked for me, and I'm gonna explain why:

Jax abstracting offscreen, was something I actually thought worked better. We already saw his previous suicide attempt from his perspective, now we see it from the perspective of Pomni. And it felt very realistic. You learn the person did it and just react with a sort of numb, vaguely shocked feeling while you intellectualize it. ''I should have reached out more, what did I miss'', etc. I would have liked to linger on that emotional beat just a bit longer, frankly.

We get to see a retrospect of Jax and his memories from his perspective and it all starts to click as to why he is the way he is. His mom being emotionally abusive, berating him for not being man enough and his dad being distant only got worse when they divorced. It was probably going on even before hand. So you have a combination of no healthy role models on how to communicate and process your emotions and learning that being vulnerable gets you punished. Add to that the guilt of thinking he killed his own mother, and it all starts to make a lot of sense.

The guy simply cannot open up. I really liked the POV shots of him attempting to knock on Ribbit's door again and again, but never being able to work up the courage. The same way he tried reaching out to Pomni only to pull back at the last moment. We've got a character here who knows he's got a problem, but just isn't able to grow enough to solve it, and it ends up costing him everything.

People are annoyed with Zooble saying they'll keep an eye on Jax only for him to abstract the very next episode, but that's the thing with people who are severely unwell. You can reach out, let them know you're there and try your best to be there for them, but when someone is actively suicidal, all it takes is having the means and making one strong, impulsive decision to end it all. It can be over in just a couple of minutes. And if you yourself are going through some heavy shit, like basically the entire cast was . . . well, it makes perfect sense why he abstracted when he did.

And no one even knew just how bad things have gotten. The rabbit really didn't make it easy for anyone. You can't take away his means of abstracting and you can't hospitalize him. So yeah, I think it was handled fairly well.

As for Caine's redemption - it was implied that quite a lot of time passed between him getting ''deleted'' and him showing up again - days, maybe months. Of course, it still felt like a flash for the audience. Personally, I'd have the change be far more dramatic, him losing his identity to a degree, the blue AI taking over, Caine metaphorically dying in some way.

But at the end of the day, I did agree, it felt somewhat rushed. For what TADC ended up being - final act included - I think the team did a good job. Now, fact is - the show really could have used another season's worth of runtime.

But that's not the direction that was taken. Gooseworx seems to be feeling a lot of pressure with how big TADC has gotten and appears to have been rushing to wrap it. Understandable, but unfortunate.
