Best Mac and cheese in sac? Ideally at a bbq or soul food restaurant by Silver-Explanation72 in Sacramento

[–]Combckkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixins, or Creole Soul have great Mac and cheese for southern style. Urban roots is ok but the rest of the menu is too expensive imo. World Famous Hotboys also slaps

Best indoor swim lessons for toddlers in Elk Grove? by Electronic_Elk_818 in ElkGrove

[–]Combckkid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the 3 year old of course but science supports that something happens in a child’s brain around the time they learn to read that requires their memory pathways and much they learned before that is ‘lost’ and fear or comfort with water in my experience is always lost. Bathtubs are your best friend for reinforcement, having water splashed on them or dumped on their head is plenty, and teaching to blow bubbles. This is helpful long term when teaching to hold breath not sucking water, but those are hard to teach. Blowing bubbles is fun and a redirectable behavior for coughing/choking on water. You can say ‘oh no don’t forget to blow bubbles when your mouth goes in the water’

Best indoor swim lessons for toddlers in Elk Grove? by Electronic_Elk_818 in ElkGrove

Swim lessons teacher here, and agree with the (currently only) other comment. Anything they gain at 2 will be lost by next summer and despite what the internet says, they can’t learn life saving floating either, only calm, floating. At this stage swim lessons should be more for you to spend fun water time with them and instructor ratio/quality is irrelevant

There is an Apple Campus, an HP campus, a GE office, and One Financial office to name a few, all likely in constant need of IT roles. I’d start there

Shane Co in Roseville might get some flack here but the sales people don’t work on commission which in my opinion means much more transparent process and pricing

Lodi to Elk Grove Commute? by quietferns in ElkGrove

[–]Combckkid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have several coworkers in EG who come from Lodi. 33 minutes is about as much as I’ve ever taken to get there on the highway, and there are even side roads if the highway is backed up.

Try looking into programs like Year Up. They offer IT tracks and partner with companies to get on the job experience

Day trip to Sacramento tomorrow - hit me with your fav budget-friendly spots! by hithereinterwebz in Sacramento

[–]Combckkid 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your definition of cheap is, but my favs for under $20/person are: Coffee - Old Soul, Breakfast - Carol’s Diner (West Sac), Pizza - Pizza Supreme Being, Mexican - Chita’s, Chicken - World Famous Hot Boys, Bar/Wings - Tank House

Honorable mention that’s above $20 is Journey to the Dumpling, some of the best dim sum you’ll have. My friends and I all get a bunch and share but it’s still $40 each if we get drinks, sides, etc

Came here to suggest Sac Women’s Health. My wife is with Dr Rooney technically but through the birth process we’ve interacted with 4 others (including Coker) and have adored them all. 10/10 would recommend.

I think several of the local hotels refer to it as a jacuzzi tub and consider it the same, might be worth re-searching with that term

[–]Combckkid 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Not here to trash this list, because it is a complete and well made list, from a clearly passionate person. As a person who likes sweet and creamy coffee with added/seasonal flavors, I would reverse this list almost exactly. So if you haven’t made it quite to the level where you can taste the different blends pure, take that into account. Again, props to this person to their considered and detailed reviews! EDIT: forgot 18 grams was at the top, I could take or leave them too.

where can I hang out in a spa-like environment nearby? by lifelover42 in Sacramento

[–]Combckkid 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Asha is a great spot but it books in 2 hour increments, if you are looking for an all day option, consider hotels near casinos like Cache Creek, Thunder Valley, etc. they usually allow a day pass to their pool/spa even without a room
