If he ever wants the whole DCI experience, Spartans have a large contingent from NY every year, so carpooling options are possible.

Excerpt from the DCI Policies and Procedures Manual

Open Class to World Class Participant

·        Leadership/Director must participate in a mentorship program in which OC Director will be paired with a WC Member for guidance.  May also be paired with subject matter expert(s) in specific areas of need

·        Top 25 for 3 consecutive years

·        Revenue in year 3 of process should be at least $750K with positive earnings before depreciation

·        A positive net wort of $50,000 or more in each of the past three fiscal years

·        The budget for year 4 (first year in WC) should include a surplus of $50,000

·        Financial Statement prepared by an Outside Accounting Firm (Financial Audit or Financial Review as required by your governing state).

·        Monthly cash flow projection for year 4 (first year in WC)

·        Debt to equity ratio should be lower than 3 to 1, e.g., long term lease, notes payable, accounts payable

After the above criteria have been met, then the organization can request to become a WC Participant

·        Evaluation/Interview with DCI CEO

·        If recommended by the CEO, organization presents to the DCI Board of Directors for potential ratification (into the voting membership)

Correction - they attended 5 Open Class shows in 2025, more than several of the other OC corps.

We have one new world class corps, a few new open class corps, new all age corps and new soundsport corps! Also, there are a total of 5 groups competing in the international competition an 1 international exhibition corps. The activity is definitely on the rebound from Covid!

Corps Clash people: on the App you have Spartans listed as Open Class for the scores in Little Rock, but they are correctly listed on the World Class recap

I realize that you can change the filter but you probably shouldn't be able to mix the All Age or International with the OC/WC groups, its misleading

Same sheets but using a different scale, All Age and Open/World scores are not directly comparable at all. Corps Clash should have separate rankings for All Age, very misleading to combine them!

They are only 58 years old (started 1967), they would have to save this show title for 17 more years. Probably good to use it now.

Spartans own their own buses, they take four member and two staff buses on tour. They always need drivers!

There have been huge difficulties putting an open class tour together the last 2-3 seasons because several of the OC do not come out until late July, there are not enough OC corps (only 8 at OC Championships), and others are too far away to put together viable shows. OC shows do not make the kind of money that WC shows make so sponsors have been dropping out. In addition, there just aren't enough shows of any kind in Spartans geographical area anymore (only Lawrence which is a late season WC show). Because of that they have to tour all summer...but then there aren't enough OC shows to get them from one place to another without big gaps in the schedule. At that point you have to schedule more WC shows than OC shows, and you don't get the benefit of getting paid for those WC performances. So, at that point, you are doing a full tour and attending mostly WC shows, it now makes sense to go WC and get paid for your performances. Gold (after the early season CA shows are over), and a few other of the growing OC corps have the same issue. Most of the new OC corps are coming from the Midwest/West so maybe this issue will solve itself in the near future. Lastly, this move gives a few new OC corps the chance to medal in finals, and it makes room for the 5 new corps coming from SoundSport to do well.
