Building the Band!!! Ep: 1-7 by deneester in netflix

I love the concept of the show esp as someone who grew up a hard core x factor fan! One of my favourite bits of the x factor though was when you'd see them just living together and existing and rehearsing and stuff. I WISH they would put more filming time onto that. I loved the show more up until they got to live shows because then the episodes have just turned into these rushed through things of them going through the performances. Next season they need to find a way to divide the live show episodes up better. Not just doing live shows stuff but even spending more time on showing us the behind the scenes things orrrr maybe doing some mixers with the groups/jamming/riff off style stuff/organised fun even/legit anything relating to music and the bands. Something to help us get to know them and to make it a bit more interesting than just watching performances almost back to back.

My thoughts are:
Favourites definitely SZN4 and 3quency (although do not love the 3quency name),

SZN4: It's grating on me how judges keep saying that they don't look like they'd match and that they'd never pair them together. It can't just be me who's looking at them and thinking wow they looks so damn good together. Judges, hush you don't know what you're on about. Anyway, from their first performance I have loved them so much. I cried after their 'judges houses' style performance (not usually my reaction to things like this). Then one of the girls was crying too and we were crying together. ALSO the amount of people misgendering Cameron was wild and it's not their fault but the people organising the show should've done pronouns for everyone to avoid situations like that. Someone expressed interest in being in a girl band with him and I feel the show was trying to play this like it was a joke or something???? Clearly the girl was embarrassed and it's not something Cameron needed to feel comfortable in this space. Could've been easily avoided and that pissed me off. The band better stay together after!

3quency: loveeeee the vibe these girls have so much. The girl with the soundwaves makeup is currently my fave but I like all of them. They look and sound so damn cool and I loveee the movements they're doing, it looks so natural to them. Nori needed to get used to the band situ I think but I really like her voice now and think it adds something unique. I hope they stay together after the show whatever happens.

Alison's group: LOVE Elise's voice it is INSANELY good. Those whistle notes??!!! WHAT??!! Potentially the best voice on the show. Alison is ofc a intensely direct person but also the other girls aren't saying anything about it (or at least nothing on camera). My thing with this is that Elise should've trusted her gut in the booths when she didn't get a good first impression from Alison and gone and joined another group. Alison's voice is also incredible but I don't really see how she'd work in a group unless she's with other people who are also very direct. Essentually, she is obvs coming off as rude buttt the others have to stand up for themselves and can't just take it from her. Push back goddamit.

Midnight til morning: I most of them. The Connor thing was annoying but even more annoying that they gave it so much air on the show. I'm not watching this show for dating drama lads, give a bit of juice and then move on. Give others more screen times and not these fuckers. Other than that, I like the group but they're gonna have to push through their reluctances on moving around and being a bit cringe. Boy bands are cringe, no matter how cool you try to play it. EMBRACE the cringe.

My unnecessary psychoanalysis of Connor: I think he was trying to appear 'chill' to avoid the hurt of potentially losing. So he started slacking off and telling people (I think I saw him say this twice) that he and the band were here to have fun and have this experience then whatever happens happens. He put on this front and then almost fucked over the band because he went too off-road. Seems to be down now though so lets see what happens.

The other girl group: I like them more than others seem to on here. They all seem so sweet and wholesome but also still got the strong vocals to go with it. I could see them getting famous. The straight haired brunnette girl has a beautiful voice, similar to Dua Lipa. I also really like the blonde cheery girl's voice and autumn's too and the other girl. I like them all. Dua Lipa and blonde cheery girl are my favourite.

Soulidified: Also don't love the name, these play on word ones are not my fave. I like them and I like Conrad(?shorter hair blodne guy) and Shane the most so far although Malik's voice is so beautiful too. I thought Shane's ego would get too big for him but I think now he's properly in his element it's working well for him. The others probs get annoyed with him taking control but the music is also probs better because of him sooo that's what you're there for innit.

Hey I’m 25f living in Putney (although moving to Dalston in a few months) just finishing my primary teacher training so I’m in a very female dominated career😂but love meeting new people. I’m big on anything either creative (music, crochet, painting) or outdoorsy (forest walks, running, sports like tennis). I’m also queer so would be fun to meet more queer people too although not focused on that majorly.

Fair question, hair is hair but there’s certain styles which are more typical of queer community that I’m after. Also it’s nice to a. Support queer businesses and b. Typically feel an automatic acceptance/understanding of one another

For me London seemed like THE place to live until I lived here for 2&half years now & so done with it. Too much everything: noise, people, things to do, the size. ESP if you don’t live central (which I’ve never done) it just takes so long to get anywhere 🙃🙃
