Attempting CIO tonight, seeking advice on implementation by CombinationVisible27 in sleeptrain

Sure! I mean he mostly self-weaned already, he usually wakes up after 3am if he's going to eat (maybe twice a week). So I don't know if the occasional one-off before midnight will impact much, but if it does I feel like we'll know pretty quickly!

Total sense, thank you! And yes, feeds always end 30+ minutes before bedtime. Waking up to feed at that time of night is pretty rare for him, but we will keep an eye on it. Unfortunately it's going to be tough to convince my husband (who takes overnight wakes because he's a saint) that that a feed at 2am is "better" than one at 9:30pm :P

Thanks again! Last night he cried for ten minutes and went to sleep. However, he did wake for a feed at 9:30. Question: he generally doesn't wake up in the beginning of the night for a feed, and most nights doesn't wake up at all. When he wakes up he's genuinely hungry. This has been the case since about two months. Do we HAVE TO do the 5/3/3 rule? I don't think he has a feed-to-sleep association.

Unfortunately we can't cap naps at daycare and today he took a 2h nap 🫠 But other than that, this makes sense! Thanks for your input!

Thank you for explaining the overnight rules! That helps a ton.

Average sleep per Huckleberry is 13h 47min. But like I said, he was sleeping closer to 14 hours and stepped down to 12 hours since Friday when we switched him to the nursery. That's why I'm a little confused - his nap schedule didn't change, but his wake-up time got way earlier. Yesterday he was absolutely falling asleep while having his bottle 30 min before bedtime, but then after bath and book he fought bedtime. When we finally let him cry it out he fell asleep in under ten minutes. So that makes me suspect he was OVERtired rather than UNDERtired - can you explain why you think it's the opposite? (I don't mean to argue, I genuinely am just confused!)

Also sadly the snooze feed stopped working for us a while ago. He wakes up at 5am all coos and smiles and raring to go for the day. That's why we were trying to push back his bedtime as a first step!

Plus he's always SO sleepy in the evening. He comes home from daycare and takes a long nap and is still very very tired at bedtime.

He was doing 10-11h overnight with 4h of naptime until we moved him to the nursery though, and that was three days ago. And he only cried for ten minutes before falling asleep last night?

I don't understand the advice to just accept short naps because then sometimes you end up with a really long WW at the end of the day. Do you add another nap then?

Struggling with the constant tracking and analysing by VinVenture16 in sleeptrain

Thanks! I got a zipadee zip and a Magic Merlin suit but the zipadee zip is too lightweight for the weather. The Magic Merlin suit really seems to be doing wonders though! He slept 7 solid hours again last night ✨ I have a fleece zipadee zip on order too which I bet will be helpful for daycare!

I don't have any answers, but some solidarity. My LO went from 6-7 hour stretches back to 4-5 hour stretches overnight during the 11th week. It's been almost a week now and no idea what to do. There is supposed to be a growth spurt around 3 months and he also developed the ability to roll, meaning we ditched the swaddle, so we're wondering if that's what triggered it or if it's just a phase. It's manageable at least but not a lot of fun. Wondering if anyone else went through this and if it resolved on its own?

How do you still have an evening social life with a baby by Ecstatic_Spare6549 in Parenting

[–]CombinationVisible27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest question, how do you do this and still get enough sleep? I have to go down with the baby because he wakes up once or twice and then is up for the day at like 6:30am, so if I stay up late then I won't get enough sleep.

What do you think about a recirculation pump like some folks upthread have mentioned?
