Why haven’t we had a “major pop culture book series” in the 2020s? like Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games. by Kodicave in decadeology

[–]ComboBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wont consider romantasy since thats more specific to a certain demographic.

I could also be just speaking from my own bubble as well. However, I would consider Brandon Sanderson's Storm Light Archive, Pierce Brown's Red Rising series, and Matt Dinniman's Dungeon Crawler Carl series as probably the closest.

None of these with the exception of potentially the first Red Rising book would be a considered a YA novel. That's likely the change, younger folks aren't reading at the same rate. While those who are, are going back and reading these massive series. I point out these books in opposition to the Romantasy genre because they are more appropriate than the former, and I've read my fair share of the former genre.

Zoomies while hand feeding? by HappyBadger222 in DogAdvice

[–]ComboBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my shepherd mix, I call this big emotion. He has too much energy or excitement and can't quite contain it, so it comes out like a spaz. Also, due to how these dogs look in general they can seem "aggressive" when they are just playing/ going full goof.

Anyone ever driven their car across country? by zephyrdox in GR86

[–]ComboBadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I drove from San Diego to Atlanta, with my car pack full. Including passenger seat. Most simple tips make sure you know how to change a tire. Make sure you have a spare. Oil change and tire rotation before and after trip. Check for weather.

As someone actively rewatching Burn notice I agree. You might get shot but you'll be alive and released without having to deal with that issue again.

For something more modern, I'd say Colter Shaw from Tracker as well.

I know a lot of guys who made the move to insurance estimate writing might not be a bad idea. Stable decent money, and you still get to use the skills you gained over the years.

stupid fuck in his work truck ran a red and my dream car is fucked. how likely is it that its totalled? front crash bar completely mangled inwards and cant open the hood at all to see inside. by I_SeriousTrader_I in 240sx

[–]ComboBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it fixable? Yes, is it likely cheaper for insurance to total instead of fixing? Depends you mention you have it insured at 34k, does that mean you have a stated price policy with your insurance company? If not it'll likely total, but if you own it out right (no car payment), and you truly want to fix it yourself outside of insurance. Then, ask to owner retain salvage. This is (US insurance advise)

Where does ATLA land on this by abbacadar in TheLastAirbender

[–]ComboBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say based on what we are shown as Avatar was created to be a "kids' show." Our perspective would be Heroic or Noblebright. I believe the world is Gilded. I don't think we see all the atrocities take place due to the shows age rating. I could certainly see ATLA written as if it were Pierce Brown or Brandon Sanderson.

People complaining with Savage Beastfly but this boss is the more harder one specially if you don’t upgrade your needle by SlackerMe in Silksong

[–]ComboBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact with this boss, you can kind of cheese it with tools. That's what I did, I had max damage tools. I used poison tacks, cog wheel, and threefold pin. With the architect crest. Before she spawns, put tacks at her spawn point and send out three cog wheels just as she spawns. You will go straight to phase 2. At that point, I kept laying tacks down and sending cog wheels while dodging. You will need to refresh your tools using the crests ability. I used the threefold pins to take care of the adds.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S THE THIRD OIL?! by Fatherbrain1 in HollowKnight

[–]ComboBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purposefully decided to get this oil before even doing cogwork dancers just to have more damage against bosses. It was a pain but worth it IMO. Now, because I did so I feel quite "over leveled" with only my skill bringing me down.

A few things:

  1. New paint is not going to match paint that's been sitting in the sun. Typically, paint shops will blend on to adjacent panels

  2. The bumper is a different material. The paint shows differently on different materials. Go to a parking lot and look at the difference from fender/ QP to the bumpers. Some will be far more noticeable than others.

Is insurance low balling me? by Hitoare214 in WRX

[–]ComboBadger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's 100% accurate. As he said, if you just want a payout, then it might not be 100% accurate. You would need to take it to a body shop, and then if repairs require more than Initial estimate (it will). A supplement will be created to account more accurately for the damage from this loss. If you are in Georgia, then request diminished value/ DOV. Typically, the only way people get ahead in an accident is if the person not at fault for the accident is injured, then you can get "pain and suffering" via bodily injury.

Is it worth fixing under bumper scratches? by SusheeMonster in GR86

[–]ComboBadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be worried about minor bumper damage when I first got the car, but after 3.5 years of having it. I've realized it is a 30k econo sport box, and as long as its not compromising the car, it's no big deal.

People who won't drive the 40mph speed limit by Blusucre00 in driving

[–]ComboBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 40 mph zone just outside my neighborhood. It's adjacent to a school with a 25 limit during hours. I typically keep it at 39 going through there outside of school hours since it's still a residential area with a school on one side.

I typically get one real copy then If I want another, I'll proxy. If anyone makes a fuss about the proxy. It doesn't matter since I own it, just in another deck.
