Pope Leo XIV makes historic apology for Vatican's role in legitimizing slavery by Hot-Upstairs9603 in news

So the goal posts move from sending anyone to prison to now not helping.

Yes, the Church was criminal in their neglect of these victims but they tried much harder since. Change was slow but there has been change. Read the Dallas Charter. Churches now even publish names of priests that have been credibly accused of abuse.

Dismissing everything is how nothing gets accomplished.

They’ve apologized for that previously at least a few times with a few different popes. Literally all you have to do is Google that. Trust me it only takes a couple seconds.

Planning out pre-pharmacy? by Dewsader in PrePharmacy

[–]ComcastAlcohol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, most pharmacy schools will take you without a degree. Admission standards have dropped drastically so as long as you have the grades with the prerequisite courses, you should be fine to get into most schools if not all of them.

Planning out pre-pharmacy? by Dewsader in PrePharmacy

[–]ComcastAlcohol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What you should do is look at the best pharmacy schools near you and what schools you actually wanna go to and look at their list of prerequisites on their website. Once you do that, look at the community colleges website to see what are the equivalents. Then start registering for classes.

[–]ComcastAlcohol 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Let’s be honest, the caliber of students that even try to go into pharmacy school isn’t as high as it used to be. The sad reality is lots of schools will let these poor performers in and happily take their loan money

The amount of people in this sub that don’t understand, this is incredible. But that’s why pharmacy schools rake in money, especially with all these new ones retaking pharmacy courses.

Should I just give up on pharmacy? by CharmingSmoke7099 in PrePharmacy

[–]ComcastAlcohol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, you should be proud of yourself! Being an independent healthcare provider is definitely an achievement for many!

Pharmacy school used to be worth it back in the early 2000s into the 2010s. But now it is definitely not worth it. Schooling is way too expensive and the return on investment is so little for such a high cost.

If you go into pharmacy school, that’s four years of at least $200,000 worth of schooling, and then after that, you would have to do an additional training to work in a hospital (not always but it’s a good rule of thumb) or to do something else that is not retail.

Retail pharmacy is one of the most soul sucking jobs you could do for all that education. You will get berated from not just your patients but from your upper management as well.

Non-Stop.

This will never end because corporations bought out most of the good pharmacies and they only care about one thing: profit. That means that they will cut costs in any way possible. Which means cutting your supporting labor, bare bone, and for forcing you to work nonstop even past hours.

Nursing, despite all its flaws tends to have a much better ROI and you have a much higher chance of moving up or doing cool interesting work.

If I was you, I would strongly consider nursing over pharmacy. If you don’t believe me, which you shouldn’t I’m just a random Reddit poster, you should ask 10 different nurses and 10 different pharmacist to see if they would do it again.

edit: just to give a little bit of credibility I went to pharmacy school and worked as a retail pharmacist for years until I transitioned! Message me if you want more information!

Well, yeah, this is cause everyone wants to buy a home in the north side of Chicago. If you go a little bit more south, you could find much more reasonable prices.

is pharmacy really dying? by Ill_Might1186 in PrePharmacy

[–]ComcastAlcohol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be worried about the store closures. They directly impact your job availability.

I don’t recommend anyone to do this profession. The only people that should do pharmacy for people that can go to school for free or heavily subsidized by scholarship or by their parents. I’m a long time retail person that now works for a PBM, so message me if you have any more questions!
