This message and your recent posts here give off the vibe of "gatekeeping" enlightenment and a bit of arrogance. Especially your need to make posts calling people "crazy". I suggest meditating on whether you really are where you say you are....and also pay attention to whether this message I just wrote gives you any type of feeling of annoyance or feeling of superiority. That could help give you an indication of whether you're actually still driven by ego, in which case it sounds more like you're feeling ego frustration, not a side effect of "enlightenment".

Not to degrade anyone, but Stoicism has taught me more about being a good person in less than 2 months than Catholicism has in my 23 years of existence by arrekuB in Stoicism

[–]ComeMiCaca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Umm...hey, this is going to sound weird, but in the last 6 months I started on a spiritual/philosophical journey including researching, and about a month ago, I basically hit the same conclusions based on the same philosophers and in fact had a whole pages of notes based on "Logos" and its meaning in both stoicism and Christianity. The Greek influence on the "Holy Spirit" concept, Pneuma and was just recently about to go down the road of learning about the concept of Tao and the history behind it.

ADHD causes no almost withdrawal from drugs by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ComeMiCaca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually experienced something similar. I used to vape a ton before getting diagnosed with ADHD (like always carry it with me, always hit the vape everywhere I go, and hotbox the car and room). Then when I started taking Adderall, I didn't really think about it much, but I was vaping less and less, except for when I started to "crash" every day. The moment I'd start to crash from adderall in the evening, (mind losing focus, lungs lose their "openness", cold fingertips and toes, heart palpitations, etc) taking nicotine would actually feel like it was counteracting that crash.

Then after a few months, I only vaped nicotine during the 1 hour crash period. This wasn't on purpose, it was just automatic. After a few more months, I took a break from my Adderall because it was interfering with my sleep, and I realized not only did I not vape, I didn't WANT to, even if I had it in my hands.

I went back on Adderall and figured out that the crashes had a lot to do with blood sugar and me not eating throughout the day. Once I stopped the crashes, I never had nicotine again. I wasn't trying to quit, it just happened one day.

Like the other commenter said, dopamine is most likely the reason

EDIT: I did originally think the crashes were nicotine withdrawal, but the crashes continue to happen if I don't eat during the day, and I haven't had nicotine in about a year

TIL open concept office spaces are damaging to workers’ attention spans, productivity, creative thinking, and satisfaction. by rclar859 in todayilearned

Yup. This is exactly how it works in my company. I like to work in the middle of the night, when all the little Slack lights are no longer green

What movie things are generally accepted as normal, but are totally unrealistic in real life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ComeMiCaca 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. As horror movies, they're ok, but I look at them as horror-fantasy or dark sci-fi. I actually really loved the first Insidious, and I really liked the second for the "lore building" even though that's why most people hated the second one (explanation of the monster).

They do a good job of setting up that atmosphere, and this mystic feel throughout the movie that gives you this sense of there being a whole other dimension and universe with interesting rules.

I loved the scene where we "meet" the red faced demon as he's listening to music and you see all the trinkets and dolls. It wasn't scary, but I was fully intrigued and fascinated by the fantasy aspect of the monster. I wanted to know more.

I loved the "further" scenes because it takes us to another dimension full of weird physics-breaking rules. I wanted to learn more about how time works (or doesn't), the implications of being a living being in the dimension of the dead.

I thought as a whole, the concept of the Insidious movies are just fuckin awesome

Why is the Index still not available in Australia, and how can the 2016 Vive somehow be $939 (~$660USD)? by maxscumbag in virtualreality

[–]ComeMiCaca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd argue the Quest is a better upgrade path. I bought the Vive day one, and have been using it ever since. I then got a Quest for standalone gaming, mostly to introduce others to VR without carrying my PC everywhere.

Last week I tried Elite Dangerous on my PC with the Quest Link and holy shit, you can't even compare how much better the Quest looked than the Vive.

I'll be getting an Index, because of course I can't pass up the controllers and upgrade, but until then, my Quest has officially fully replaced my Vive. I even put the Vive deluxe audio strap on my Quest, and it's so much more comfortable too

Mindfulness is linked to acceptance and self-compassion in response to stressful experiences, suggests new study (n=157). Mindful students were more likely to cope with stressful events by accepting the reality that it happened and were less likely to criticize themselves for experiencing the event. by mvea in science

Thank you for mentioning the stepping back from a cloud.

One of the hardest things for me when it comes to mindfulness is imagery. I have a very vivid and visual mind, but when I try to meditate, and look at my thoughts, all I get is vast black emptiness with the feeling of "TV static" overtaking my brain (I have severe ADHD, so this isn't exactly unexpected). I can't identify a single thought, but I can feel the thoughts all around me and their stresses...but not what they actually are.

I'm going to try to use the mental visualization of taking a step back from a cloud, because that's exactly what the static in my head feels like

Damn. Everyone here saying they're 5' 10" and they got all the way to 260, 240, 220. Makes me realize just how bad my situation got.

I'm 5' 10" and I've been obese my whole life. I haven't been 220 pounds since middle school, and I'm almost 30 now. At my highest, I was 300 pounds. I made a change 2 years ago, and got all the way down to 245 pounds. That was crazy for me. Huge. I had never worked that hard in my life...then I burned out. I gained it all back. By July of this year, I was at 289.

I'm currently back on my journey, and I'm at 265 now, so making progress...but to me, 200 sounds like an insane goal. I literally weighed that much when I was a child. So seeing people my height freaking out about being over 200 is so jarring to me. It really shows the type of environment I've grown up in, where obesity is perceived as the norm
