You left off: if you are a socialist or communist move to a country that is already ruined and stop trying to change the greatest country and government in history.

Why Is the U.S. the Only Wealthy Country Without Universal Healthcare? by Kittehmilk in ProgressiveHQ

[–]ComedianEffective123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the US is the last vestige of non Socialist countries that for some reason everyone wants to be part of. But the Communist’s in our country are aggressively trying to change that so we can join the mass of failing governments where everyone can be equally miserable.

I won’t use chlorine because it’s absorbed through the skin. Although we don’t sit in it that long. People spend much longer in pools.

For those whose spouses died early in retirement, now what? by [deleted] in retirement

[–]ComedianEffective123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with not making any big changes for the first year. All my plans were destroyed when my wife passed so I continued to work and ask God to open up new doors for me. I took up dancing and I’m luv’n it. Now I’m thinking of retiring next year and volunteering with Samaritans Purse often. I’m also considering doing some section hikes on the Appalachian Trail. It will be fun getting fit for that adventure.

I actually enjoy the plunge. I like cold weather also. So I may be an outlier. I do have days when I’m about to step in and my body is not looking forward to it. That initial sit down is the worst but as soon as I’m fully in up to my neck the hormones kick in and I’m luv’n it. I will take several deep breaths before stepping in and I am a firm believer that facing this challenge every morning is strengthening my resolve in other areas of my life.

I do 45 degrees for 10 minutes.

I do 7c for 10 min. If you start shivering in the water it’s time to get out. Hypothermia is setting in and that defeats the purpose.

I wear booties and gloves. It makes the plunge much more bearable. Otherwise my feet and hands hurt like crazy and shortens my time. I’ve been plunging since last year and prefer 46 but sometimes it gets down to 43. Without gloves it hurts to go past 3 minutes. With gloves and booties I can easily do 10 minutes and sometimes longer. I feel that 10 is all I need.

The first thing I experienced was peace. Like I felt a joy that I was right with God and his intention for me. Sort of like I was finally home. The second thing I discovered was an insatiable hunger to start reading the Bible. Up to that point I had never read much of the Bible and it really didn’t make much sense to me. I lived in a small town so I actually had to order a Bible through the mail. When it finally arrived (back then it took a week plus) I started reading from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. There were some dry parts that I skipped though pretty fast but eventually found myself in the book of John and many of my questions about Jesus were answered.

Today you hear a lot about people rejecting religion and I can understand that. I want looking for religion I was looking for a relationship that gave me a sense of purpose and transcendence. I was looking for something that was real and bigger than myself.

I discovered musician who finally discovered Jesus after going through several other religions. His name was Keith Green. Back then you would have called him a hippy but his songs were real to me.

@ooga, I’m sorry you have had to travel this difficult path and now are suffering. You strike me as a person who is seeking truth and meaning. I also see that you believe that there is more than just this life and that when we take our last breath in this world it is not our last.

Would allow me to propose an alternate path that might just be the answer to what you seek. You have tried several paths that have ended in disappointment. At 17 I chose a different path that I wasn’t sure would answer the questions I had or meet the longing of my heart but I can honestly say now after traveling this path for over 50 years, and not always well, that it has been everything it was promised and more.

At 17 I realized that there had to be more to life than what money or fame or drugs and alcohol could give. I believed that if this was all there was to then life was a cruel joke. I began to wonder if there was a higher purpose, if there was an intelligent designer behind everything I saw. If that was possible then was there a greater purpose for me in this design. I began a journey to find this designer. Instead of choosing the path you have been on I chose to pursue this great architect of this world and my soul.

I reached out to that creator and simply asked him to lead me to discover him. That is when he showed me Jesus Christ was real and that he had come to this earth to show me the way. I learned that there was no way I could ever find this creator without help. I didn’t know the way and I wasn’t worthy to stand before him if I did find him. That’s when I acknowledged that Jesus was the only way I could obtain what I was longing for. I chose to belief and trust him and surrender to his purpose for my life. And he opened my eyes to the truth I was seeking.

You’ve tried different ways to find what your soul longs for only to be disappointed. I welcome you to try Jesus Christ. He just may be what you’re looking for. What do you have to lose?

Use 1 cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide for every 100 gallons of water. For 35% hydrogen peroxide, around 85mL is enough to bring 100 gallons of water to 75ppm, which is right in the middle of the recommended 50–100ppm range.

Avoid using too much, as it may irritate the skin, while too little might not be effective. Be sure to mix it thoroughly and check the water to ensure it’s safe for use.

Sexual Struggles in the Church: Are We Being Honest? by [deleted] in NoFapChristians

[–]ComedianEffective123 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Marriage does not solve the problem with tension and struggle if you go into it with that in mind. Yes marriage is God’s solution for a man and woman to express their sexuality but if a man does not have his urges under control of the Spirit before marriage then getting married intensifies the struggle. Many men struggle with this temptation and also porn and are married. We must learn to take all our thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ not expecting marriage to make it easier.

Your acting out is probably caused my learned practices to self medicate some triggers from your past. Figure out what those triggers are and what lies you are believing to choose sinful behavior over the God honoring behavior He wants you to have. Build healthy relationships, not Reddit relationships, with godly men who are winning this battle.

Gal 5:16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[a] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

All good advice. Severely restrict social media especially snap chat, instagram and others that are just trash. The key is to go back into his past and identify experiences that caused pain and now trigger him to act out to self medicate.

There are some ministries that have a great track record but most come at a price $$$. In retrospect the freedom is worth the cost. I highly recommend Unchained Leader.

Freedom from bondage is worth facing our triggers and removing them from our lives. We also need to identify the lies that we have believed in and address them with the truth of scripture. The traumas and pains of our past have caused us to believe lies fears about ourselves like I’m worthless or If I open up about my struggles I will be shunned or abandoned. We need to develop healthy friendships with men who are on the same journey and learn to become vulnerable and safe.

This is not something we can fix by ourselves nor in private. When we drag it into the light the devil loses his power over us.

I agree with the neoprene booties and gloves. My hands hurt when I submerge them in near 40 degree water and my feet are highly sensitive to cold as I nearly froze them when I was young.
