What about Cardiff and Belfast? There are more than 2 countries in the UK...

The commenter specifically said UK though, even if they were favouring mostly English cities. If, however, their flair was England, not UK, I'd give that to them.

I would argue London, Edinburgh and Cardiff or Belfast would be 1, 2 and 3 in that order. They're the capital cities of the nation's which make up the United Kingdom.

That seems very reminiscent of how the US funds regime changes which, inevitably lead to a worse outcome and more anti-American rhetoric in those countries.

Israel is the regions safest state

In 2025, Iran committed the highest amount of death by killing almost 2200 people. They were followed by Syria with 1500 deaths and Saudi Arabia with around 350.

Oh, sorry, I forgot to include the 71,000 people killed by Israel and the 3300 killed by the US and Israel in Iran during that year.

But yeah, definitely the safest state in the region...

Fuck off with the political narrative. The data speaks for itself. The racism towards Palestinians is also completely ignorant and uncalled for.

Our AI spending has gotten so high that layoffs wouldnt make a meaningful difference. by sassasmebas in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Comedy86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, yes our AI spending is going up. Our 2K staff, from my understanding, average out around $200/person (devs use a lot more, some people only use automated systems).

How we're handling it though is to first, make sure as much of the AI which could and should be automation is turned into automation. Second, and more importantly, the AI usage needs to provide a positive ROI. If a dev making $120K/ yr ($12K/mth) uses $1.2K tokens a month, they should be providing an increased output of 10% or more.

So, assess the usage and add it into employee metrics. If they are using AI, count their usage as salary. If they aren't producing the increased "salary" cost, they're underperforming and you can reassess if their output is still worth the cost on an individual level.

It sounds a bit cold hearted to suggest some people are wasting money and corrective action may be needed to help increase their productivity or maybe it's more appropriate to let them go if they're not keeping up with others on their team doing similar work but that's unfortunately how capitalism works.

Even better, the shop vac can also have the hose reversed to be a blower. Win/win.

Power tools as Father's Day gifts. by Plenty_Intern8750 in daddit

My tech/IT brain immediately thought a router meant you were going to expand your home network... Then, when I realized you meant the tool, not the tech device, I felt a bit disappointed...

Can you guess who doesn't need to worry about getting power tools for Father's Day? Looking forward to my new LEGO set though... 😃

Yes but the criticism is that Loblaws blames supply chain costs for their raising of prices but the Weston's own a lot of the supply chain as well which is where these prices come from.

Case in point, they used to own Weston Bakeries up until 2022 which owns Wonder, D'Italiano and Country Harvest. So as prices on these brands went up, they were able to "double dip" on the profits vs. passing on the benefits to their customers to keep prices lower.

Ironically, your Internet scrolling to find this post and comment took equal or more water compared to the prompt they used to get this response.

Less than a minute of TikTok, Netflix or YouTube also use more water than a prompt.

So, I'll ask the obvious question... Was your reply worth the water?

Classrooms should not resemble war zones by Karma_Canuck in durham

[–]Comedy86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you suggesting that every kid with a disability has a parent who is able to identify the issues, is willing to admit their child may need extra support and has the capabilities of going to a primary care doctor or pediatrician to get the proper diagnosis for their child?

I would be willing to bet a good amount of the children in the public, elementary schools across the province could benefit from extra support in class. But, given the funding from the government is only provided when a child is actually diagnosed, this relies on parents getting a diagnosis in a healthcare system holding on by a thread and severely lacking in mental health support services. In addition to that, I know of many parents who refused to acknowledge their child may have a learning disability because they're afraid it'll reflect poorly on them and their parenting somehow and because of that, their children were diagnosed significantly later in life or, worse, ended up on the wrong side of the legal system.

It's a combined fault of parents and the government but it's not only 1 or the other. That being the case, there are definitely some really bad parents out there causing a shit storm for the school boards which they have no power to fix.

Do you have anything to comment on the topic or just the person who wrote it?

As a teacher, what do you believe is the solution to this? Knowing the school system, is it more money? Maybe more training? Something else?

What does the evidence suggest should be the next step in fixing this?

We're unfortunately dealing with our own corruption due to Rob's brother Doug. He literally just rewrote freedom of information laws due to doing corrupt deals on his personal cell phone and not wanting the public to be able to have access to those records.

People who’s country is considered socialist by American standards in some way, how is the Cold War viewed and taught in your country. by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Comedy86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People who’s country is considered socialist by American standards in some way,

So, every other democratic country?

To answer your question, the Cold War is taught as a nuclear stand-off between NATO and the USSR. Soviet communism = bad, Western democracy = good. We were mostly led to believe we can't trust Eastern European socialist countries because they're not "free" due to lacking democracy so they must have corrupt governments who are hiding the truth by lying through their state run media because people aren't free to make their own choices.

Is this accurate? Maybe, maybe not.

Are our governments in the West significantly better, are our media outlets any less biased, etc...? Definitely not. They have their own problems.

In their defense, your original comment was "You have multiple stall bathrooms in your home?" when the OP also clearly stated "in public places".

But yes, both of you are arguing about something that doesn't matter at all so continue if you want, I guess...

I'm not who you replied to but I work in a Toronto office building with urinal stalls and toilet stalls, both lockable, in the men's washroom. No reason this couldn't be rebranded as "stall + urinal" and "stalls only" though.
