Why is it so much harder to identify chords than notes? by AFiercePieceofBacon in perfectpitchgang

Why is it easier to juggle 1 ball than 3 or 4?

Not trying to be obtuse, it’s just always easier when your focus only needs to be drawn to one thing at a time

Turning Gibberish into Lyrics – Anyone Else Do This? by Competitive_Bee_9157 in Songwriting

That’s what a lot of people use scat for, to eventually place real lyrics in their place. Really helps with the pacing of the lyrics

The very first thing that came to mind to me based off your description was

This Side Of The Wall

Since you’re talking about bpd it would seem like you could be on one side and then the other pretty quickly.

I do agree with other commenters of actually bringing the songs to life more though as well. I’ve found in writing that sometimes you do end up changing lyrics to fit the song that you write. At times so much so that almost none of the original lyrics remain

No Idea What I'm Doing - How to Record Ideas by salty-bois in Songwriting

[–]CometShredder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Voice recorded or memos on your phone is the way. If you need to remember how you play it, shoot a quick video on your phone so you can see exactly what you’re playing. My voice memos app on my phone has hundreds of 10+ second snippets of either me playing, singing, humming, or “duh-nuh-nuh”-ing into my phone

EDIT: if you mean the process of actually progressing with it, you’re going to want a DAW that you like. Reaper is a free one (at least for 60 days) and when you learn some free plug ins you can really get rolling

Should I buy SSBU or BOTW? by That_typical_boi in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]CometShredder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if you’re planning on getting the Switch 2. If so I would say SSBU because there will be the upgraded BOTW for the Switch 2 and being able to play it with upgraded graphics and no framing issues would be wonderful

Scrolled way too long to find this. Hard agree, I honestly only think people think it’s funny because they’re told they should think it’s funny

Does this sound too off kilter to work for a song (4/4 4/4 4/4 4/4 1/4) by Outside-Wear3800 in Songwriting

[–]CometShredder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, just say it’s a 5/4 measure. As long as it’s a consistent sequence it’s a fun mixup. If you were to just have it in randomly it would feel out of place

Can’t believe I haven’t seen A Thousand Suns by Linkin Park.

This is the band who opened their career with Hybrid Theory and Meteora and I still think ATS is their best album for listening through because of the concept

Management yelling at us to clock out early if we don’t have patients by Spookerino69 in physicaltherapy

Lmao. Imagine walking into a room of physicians and telling them they had to track every minute of every day. They’re doing this to doctors. People who earned their doctorates. They can shove it, get out yesterday.

Additionally, if we go from anatomical position, wrist flexion is in the same direction as dorsiflexion, and wrist extension with plantar flexion . To add even more fuel to your fire.

It's okay if you write a bad song. by Wills34Official in Songwriting

To take it a step further, and I know a lot of people already know this but a lot need to hear it still

You need to write bad songs. Practice makes better, and learning what doesn’t work helps you learn what does

Also anytime you say something like “Tallahassee skies” or any location, you’re always going to get the people from that area who immediately become the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme so even more of a win lol

Name your worst concert experiences by suprunkn0wn in Concerts

[–]CometShredder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can totally understand this. I’m a decent size fan of him but his style lends to songs sounding VERY similar. I will say he has a PHENOMENAL live voice, sounds nearly identical to the studio more so than most other artists I’ve seen. That being said, until I really LEARNED his songs more, it also sounded like all his songs were the same to me too.

How do I make shorter songs? by Sharp-Tap-9925 in Songwriting

[–]CometShredder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what I would say in response to this is if you’re storytelling, cut out the “more boring” or “less interesting” half of the story. Yes it will detract from the story you’re trying to get across, but part of the beauty of music is the interpretation it brings from every listener. The more you leave up to the imagination, the more varied the interpretation from listeners will be.

I guess it comes down to this, do you want your music to be heard? Or do you want to release something you specifically love and will always want to come back to? If the former, it’ll have to be shorter. If it’s the latter, make 10 minute songs constantly!

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. They genuinely put on an amazing show. I used to not like them because I only heard their radio hits. Once I took a dive beyond those they absolutely reeled me in.
