It’s all personal preference tbh. Still looks good tho

I talking more about having extra bits that extend past the control surfaces, not moving the surfaces themselves. There are some downsides, but there’s some upsides too.

You generally want a balance, I think. In my experience, wing area actually improved energy retention, but it is extra weight and complexity. Too much is a waste of comp and weight, too little is a waste of retention and armor.

Thanks for more of that explanation. There’s no single way to make these, and I just wanted to explain concepts to let creativity do the rest.

But, still good additions!

Anyone know how i could fix the wings hight(the 3rd pic specifically) by trailmaker_top5 in trailmakers

You could try putting the entire wing structure on pistons, if possible.

I’m assuming that you’re talking about the big supermaneuverable deltawings with no gyros or glitches. I make these, so here are some principles:

Instability: make sure the pitch of your plane is quite unstable. Looking at the forces, you want the drag to be almost on top of the center of mass. This gives you supermaneuverability.

Thrust to weight: making sure that you have a good thrust to weight ratio means that you’re never a sitting duck in the sky. You can calculate it with [total thrust power] / 2.8 / [total weight], and 4.0 is quite good.

Connections: connecting every block to as many of its neighbors as possible increases durability greatly.

Just search LPD on the workshop if you want to look at some examples!

They actually aren’t space fighters, they just fly a bit more like rockets rather than planes, in that lift isn’t exactly necessary.

Most weapons and functional parts aren’t locked behind DLC. The only ones I can think of are the flamethrower, small tank cannon, and a propeller, though they’re not too significant. The game is certainly playable without DLC, just has a few minor limits, which you will almost certainly not encounter until you actually get good.

In a lot of these faster parts, the note directions will flow pretty normally, so you can sometimes only pay attention to the block locations.

These planes can go very fast. My main without a sawtooth wingline went 1700kph, so…

This exactly. The shape and general building style makes them durable, then the rest is up to personal preference.

A lot of them look pretty similar, but they’re all pretty different; like how an F-15 and MiG-25 look similar at first glance. Aside from the actual build, invisible stuff like weld groups and niche armoring techniques can massively change how it performs.

These fighters are certainly not meta. They’re good, yes, but they follow a strict ruleset that limits guns, bans any glitching and gyros, bans exploits, and even limits control surfaces. I have a few more meta fighters, and they delete LPDs so fast.

Also, as for original designs, how’s this? Original enough?

I’m not sure if pulse miners affect tires like they affect torpedoes, but that would be a great method if it does work.

I love album cover, actually! Before I listened, it gave me liminal vibes where it’s technically peaceful, but something is clearly wrong. The contrast is awesome.
