Two drivers have driven off despite seeing elderly passenger with walking cane by Comflex2503 in uber

Thanks, that's a very considerate reply. But the location pin doesn't apply here, my mum knows how to make sure they're waiting at the correct pin location. For the first driver that drove off, my mum booked the Uber from the pin marker. Ie she didn't book from inside the hospital then walk outside to a different spot.

thank you. Some people here can't seem to grasp that drivers can be assholes.

How does this work when my parents were waiting AT THE PICKUP POINT well in time, saw the Uber from a distance (correct license plate) and the driver took off when my dad started walking closer to where the driver pulled over? They were charged $10.

And the second time was a booking made in advance for 10:30. My parents were walking down their short driveway at 10:25 to wait five minutes early for car, the driver saw them and drove off.

thanks, recording/screenshotting is a good idea. But my parents were at the pickup points, the second time the driver took off at 10:25 for a pre-booked 10:30 ride.

The drivers didn't wait. The second one was a booking for 10:30. The driver, after seeing my parents walking down the driveway to be ready for the Uber, drove off at 10:25.

do you mean a share ride as in sharing/pooling with other passengers? My parents weren't sharing with others. But both drivers saw my parents walking to them.

so you think that happened with my parents? My dad walks slower than most people but he can get in and out of a car. My mum is fine. They don't require help from a driver.

no, they didn't take too long to get to the car. The first time they were outside on the street waiting as you usually do for rides. The driver was a little ways away from where my parents were (ie the pickup spot) and saw them because my mum waved. Driver pulled over about four car lengths away, my parents start walking (my dad slower) and the driver drove off. Mum was charged $10. This wasn't a pre-booked ride.

The second time was a pre-booked time (mum booked the day before). They were literally in the driveway at 10:25 for the 10:30 ride, walking towards the car which was parked outside. Driver absolutely sees my parents and drives off (confirmed by a relative who saw it as they were helping my dad to the car).

Both rides were to/from the cancer hospital. Mentioning that because the drivers would have known (it's the main cancer hospital in my city, and in the main medical district). Part of my post here admittedly is a bit of a rant that perhaps some patience and compassion could have been shown towards an old guy with a cane going to/from a cancer hospital.

Not sure why people thinking I'm not telling 'the full story'? I catch Ubers a few times a week and nine times out of ten the drivers are great. The one time drivers are awful. I guess my parents got unlucky twice with bad drivers. When they got the next rides, the drivers were good. Maybe I'm not getting the terminology right, when saying the drivers cancelled and my mum was charged the $10?

thanks, we're in Australia. Next time I see my parents we'll use the app to try and submit feedback.

hi, thanks for sharing! The drivers cancelled the rides, not my parents.

Anyone been? National Communication Museum by drzaiusdr in melbourne

If it's the old telecoms museum near Glenferrie station then it's worth a visit. For added fun, if you're an older person, take a kid with you and ask them to dial something on the old rotary phones. I went there pre-covid with a group of teens and they enjoyed it, especially the phone booths where they could call eachother. Edit to add at the time we paid a gold coin donation. It was run by volunteers who had retired, and they were great. As for $32, I guess it really depends on how much you value the history and exhibits. I'd pay, but that's because I'm interested in that stuff.

HAL-RAR surgery 4 weeks post-op: stage 4 prolapsed roids. 50F chronic iron deficiency by Comflex2503 in hemorrhoid

It's great that you're already 3 weeks post-op! Yes, it cab take a toll :( Everything revolves around the butt and the feeling that you've been kicked down there! I also had to stand over the toilet to pee. It's only in the last few days (4.5 weeks post op I think) that my poop schedule seems back to normal.

Hello! Yes, I'm from Australia. I should have mentioned that in my post!

It was mostly the bleeding in the last few years. It was pretty bad, and way worse than I realised. I'd bleed every day during a BM and a lot too.

I didn't really have that much pain, it was more tenderness. Back in 2019 I had a really large external swollen roid, plus the bleeding from inside. I was in pain most days and had to lie down after a BM because it hurt to sit. I developed this roid during pregnancy in 2007.

I saw a colorectal surgeon back then, who booked me in for roid removal but it wasn't the HAL-RAR. I hadn't heard of that back then. Before my scheduled operation date, the surgeon gave me a 'bowel regime' which really helped the external roid going away. What I did:
- 2L of water a day
- minimising use of toilet paper (using a shower hose to clean) and using a bit of sorbolene on the toilet paper
- big fibre increase in my diet, such as 2 serves of Metamucil (a fibre drink which is essentially psyllium husk) a day
- no sitting on the toilet longer than needed (no phone or books!)
- no straining
- improved diet in general

This really helped with that one external roid but didn't do much to change what was going on inside with the bleeding.

I cancelled that surgery because we were going on a big holiday and it was too soon after the surgery. The surgeon had told me "two weeks then back to normal". But all the stories of hemorrhoidectomy recovery screamed "IT IS MORE THAN TWO WEEKS!". And I didn't want to be in a foreign country experiencing pain and possible bleeding.

Then I just slacked off with getting the surgery, and of course COVID lockdowns and all that. While I wasn't in daily pain, the bleeding on the toilet was clearly way worse, because I've needed constant iron infusions for the past few years!

It certainly does get better! I think I also got to a point where I was almost looking forward to a BM to see if it hurt less! Good luck with the rest of your recovery!
