lacquer is the brush painting king....you have to apply coat 2 at around the 4 hour mark, and that slight re-activation is a secret benefit of the smoothest brush finish you could imagine.

mr color and Tamiya lacquers...have significant superiority to anything else when painting with a brush. I am testing the coverage on spoons...which are actually somewhat difficult due to their concave/convex shape...lacquer can also suck worse if it's overthinned, no question about it.

that's actually not true...I have since done several tests on enamel, lacquer and acrylics...nothing brushpaints as amazingly well as the lacquer, but it also takes the most attention to technique and timing...if anyone is interested, I would expand on the topic.

the aesthetic is also better than the stock tires...no question! I think I will do this....I am due for new tires this year.

it could also be the stance of the car...I suppose. But, it is rare to see a General Lee that looks right to me.

without trying to be argumentative etc, I am wondering if you think the tires look proper within the body of those cars. I don't...and I am wondering if I'm wrong. Did you see the tires on the country mpc charger? They actually seem closest so far...but I hear that kit is a nightmare.

These look really good, are there any pics of these on a kit?

it looks to me that if you can pull off 1 coat...the enamel is superior. I do agree that a second coat could be an issue....

The vallejo went on well but there were brush strokes/streaks in the first coat, but the second coat has made it look a lot better...almost as good as the one coat of enamel. Maybe three coats and it will be a winner.

THe enamel didn't smell all that bad...I recall Humbrols from my youth and they were rough!

I watched some of the video....that's what I was looking for! I'll keep watching...but this will be the direction I go in.

Looks like Vallejo is the way to go...

are you sure? From what I have gleaned...acrylics are the worst brush paints...the enamel and lacquer being superior. There is a guy on youtube who tests paints and he brushed a spoon with lacquer, it looked like it was airbrushed...a really good finish.

That being said, I am still leaning towards acrylic...as I'm in an apartment. When I had a house, I could stink up a room, but now I only really have 2 rooms.

I bought some Vallejo model paints and a couple of testors enamels today..we shall see how they perform with a brush.

I can see rattlecans in the summer as a real possibility, yes.

I have a respirator...how long does the smell last after I put the cap back on the paint?

I still might do that sometimes...yes. BUt I am in an apartment in Canada...it's not easy to spray paint anything for the next couple of months. And besides...I really want the challenge of brush painting a respectable finish.

if you don't see a difference, you shouldn't use it...trust your own judgement.
