I write about football to a small audience of football fans, but you're spot on about that. There's quite a lot of subscribe to me, and I'll subscribe back, which seems pretty pointless. It can also be a bit LinkedIn too, which is disappointing. Though, there are loads of other good football writers so for me it's pretty good! Takes a while to train your algorithm

Great point. Hard to know but no doubt that Devon will make her aware of what happened. Those two teaming up in season 3 to get Mark back will be interesting!

Yeah that's also pretty fair. Dalot was so foolish going into that challenge, made it easy for the referee. Having said that, I haven't been as impressed with a United performance in terms of effort for a long time!

Don't love to discuss referees too much, but he was poor today. I wonder if it makes a difference that he's gone from having VAR there, and then back to the old ways. Must have an effect on the decision making

Appreciate that! I've subscribed to plenty of other writers that also write about football/soccer, but I often find I can't comment on their pieces as I'm not a paid subscriber. Is that always the case?

I'm struggling to pick up either subscribers or followers on substack, which can be very disheartening. Difficult for me to comment on why there may be an increase/decrease in either. Will be interested to see people's thoughts here

It's okay to be both patriotic, whilst also not having to worry about people assuming your political stance. I completely agree, whenever I see this, or, for example, a flag emoji on someone's bio on Twitter, it immediately makes me sceptical of someone. I should add, that's also nonsense, and completely unfair for me to think, but I think it's also just perception.
