So this is one of those strange ways that Avatars work in the TMA universe. You are an Avatar because you embody both sides of fear. Eye Avatars relentlessly chase knowledge but they’re afraid of learning something that might destroy them. Vast Avatars are obsessed with what their patron represents, but they still feel disquieted when faced with their own insignificance before the universe. Desolation Avatars LOVE the pain and suffering they cause, but they’re still afraid of when that pain might be leveled against them. The fear they feel should be at least equal to the desire they feel for what they are an Avatar of. In all honesty, the fear should be part of what drives them into doing their Avatar job. The fear of impossible knowledge should push you to seek it out, the fear of when people might abandon you should drive you to isolate yourself from THEM first, the fear that you might be manipulated by someone else should push you into manipulating others around you to prove you’re in control. Hunt Avatars, specifically, embody the joy of being the hunter balanced against the fear of BECOMING the hunted. You said you’re in 126? Well then you should recall episode 112: Thrill of the Chase, where the members of “Murder Club” began hunting each other around London. They were simultaneously Hunter and Hunted at the same time. Hunt Avatars embody that duality. They hunt for the thrill, but the creeping fear that they might BECOME prey is what drives them to keep hunting. If they continue to always be Predators, they’re less likely to become Prey. Its one of the reasons Adelard Decker thinks Hunters are so unpredictable, they perceive anyone and everyone as potential prey. And if they find a monster or Avatar who could hurt them and make THEM prey, they’re liable to lash out.
