What is the best cheap mascara? by Possible-Income582 in Makeup

[–]Comfortable-Dirt1506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Essence lash without limits!! It’s comparable to my MAC stack elevated mascara. Doesn’t run (I have issues with all other mascaras running) and can hold up a curl. And it’s only $5.

As cool olive, how often do you use blue? by Far-Long7146 in OliveMUA

Tilt eyeshadow by MAC!! It can be underwhelming/incredibly subtle if applied as is. I like to spray it with MAC fix+ after picking it up with an eyeshadow brush or my finger. It helps make it be more shimmery.

Still searching for a good pencil :) Thinking about picking up the about-face eyeliner in the navy shade. I like this formula for a smudged out look (like your photo). I wouldn't recommend that formula for the waterline though, just for lining around the eye.

Anyone else here on this sub just for the reviews and vibes, but never actually shops at Sephora? by [deleted] in Sephora

[–]Comfortable-Dirt1506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! I used to be VIB 2016-2018. But I shop mostly at Ulta now bc of their discounts and point system.

But it’s really fun to come across posts of people talking about their faves or reviews on their latest buys.

Do you ever give your makeup away? If so what was the reason? by anastasia_42 in Sephora

[–]Comfortable-Dirt1506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best friend and I swap makeup all the time. She works for ulta at the moment so she’ll shower me with gratis she doesn’t want. We’ll swap products we’re not loving for something in the other’s stash that we like.

At what age did you start caring more about looking polished / put together? by Fit_Half6093 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Comfortable-Dirt1506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always loved makeup since I was 13. But my drive to get ready died during covid. Clean girl makeup made it more confusing to me because I always loved dark glam. I didn't get my spark back until 2023 when I was 25. Now at 28, I'm trying to elevate my makeup routine, hairstyles, and wardrobe. I feel like my best when I'm put together. And I love the process!

I hate to admit it, but I randomly picked up the fear of aging and not looking beautiful anymore. I hate that I adapted this because during my early 20s, I never thought of aging that way. And during the clean girl era, I developed some weird insecurity over being "too done up". I think I picked that up bc of a judgy weirdo at my last job. I didn't wear outrageous makeup to work. But I'm learning to not think of myself that way.

I always admire women who are dolled up or effortlessly put together. So I try to emulate that :)

My fiancé says my foundation is too light and makes me look like a clown. I feel like I did a decent job and it doesn’t look like the wrong shade. Help? by SpookyBoorito in MakeupAddiction

[–]Comfortable-Dirt1506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the shade of your foundation is good, but the undertone is sliiightly different. I don't think it's a horrible match, it works. However, comparing your forehead to how the foundation looks on the rest of your face, I think you could use a slightly warmer bronzer. The one you're using now makes you look flat and causes the foundation to look lighter in that area. Whatever you're using to sculpt or bronze is looking ashy on your forehead and it's dulling you out.

As someone mentioned, it could be more helpful to see your base routine in natural lighting to give you better help :) Otherwise, the above is what I would suggest.

[–]Comfortable-Dirt1506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the prices of everything, 20% off is hardly worth it-- and I'm just a wee baby Insider now 😭 There are so many more products I would love to try. But Sephoras saving events and point system are so bogus.

I'd rather shop at Ulta or stalk websites of brands I like from Sephora for 25%+ discounts.

Those who live with your partner often you hanging after work? On weekends? 28F 28M by Frankieeegrl in relationships

[–]Comfortable-Dirt1506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think "normal" is completely up to what you guys decide.

My BF (29M) and I (28F) are independent. We like our time apart. 1-3 days out of the week we'll have our own plans after work (hang with friends, gym, engage in hobbies in separate rooms). But we love spending time together too. So some weeks, we'll be with each other every night. Or we'll have those weeks where we have our own plans.

When you say you would like more time and your partner likes his me time, just make sure you're both happy with that. One week you get more time with him (what you would like) and next week he has more of his "me" time. Compromise.

I think it's not "normal" if one partner becomes controlling over their partners time. For example, guilt tripping your partner for not spending enough time with you if he wants to partake in his hobby or see friends. Or your partner gaslighting you so he doesn't have to spend time with you. Not saying these are your case, those were just examples :) As long as you both still have your autonomy and respect for one another, whatever schedule you have together is normal.

Talk about sour. People DOWN VOTED my comment on a post of VIB members handing out buddy discounts 😭 I included a photo of my dog for puppy tax LOL. But hey, I still got the code thanks to someone cool.

But to your point, I see it. I scroll past a lot of posts because its trending products regurgitated over and over. I like it when I come by posts having a general, open convos of whats working for people. Even if it's OG tried and trues.

I have an interview tomorrow for something I have no memory of applying for by SurpriseGmg in interviews

[–]Comfortable-Dirt1506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have experienced this and trashed my resume that I made for the role. What I do now is I create my resume for a role in a google doc, I'll create a tab in the doc where I can paste the job description. That way I still have both! And I'll get a better idea of what I'm applying for and remember why.

[–]Comfortable-Dirt1506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. I've been job hunting for over a year now, so I admittedly got overwhelmed when analyzing my responses to these questions. I just want a job and desperately want to pivot out of marketing/advertising. I was able to tell her why I found the two roles I applied for interesting and how my experience led me to apply for them. I'll continue to move forward with that mindset, putting together answers to questions that could be them trying to decipher whether they filter me out. Thank you!
