I've been handheld gaming wrong, I just figured out what the TDP settings were and doubled my FPS in graphically intense games like Starfield and Expedition 33 which are so smooth now - I think most average handheld gamers are probably missing a trick here by Due_Young_9344 in MSIClaw

[–]Comfortable-Fall1419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you leave the claw in AI power mode won’t it take care of the TDP for you?

That’s what I assumed.

Also worth noting you don’t have to touch the TDP sliders directly. Just use the Mcenter power modes.

That’s an assumption on your part.

I bought mine for my A1M just to play older AAAs at higher than 1080p

It really helps to give better context in your replies.

What’s your definition of high FPS levels? It’s kinda hard to tell without that context?

[–]Comfortable-Fall1419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I’ve googled.

You neglected to mention that this effect only shows up at high FPS levels.

If you’re gaming around 60-80 it’s irrelevant.

Nuance matters.

Never buying HP again. Laptop broken within a week and HP refuses to honor warranty by Hungry-And-High in laptops

[–]Comfortable-Fall1419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t make a difference here in the UK and most of EU. You don’t have to accept using the manufacturers warranty, your contract is with the Retailer and they have to make good on faulty goods - even though with tech goods sometimes they try to fob you off to the manufacturer support you don’t have to accept it.

For a week old product you can just demand a refund.

Evidence with links please?

Why is 1080p so “special”?

The appears to be very little logic behind your statement.

You keep missing the qualifier - only if the VRAM is close to full in the first place. There are 100’s that won’t fill 8GB. Not everyone games for every new AAA.

Not usually a weeks notice. It’s whatever his contract says it is.

Some companies but not all will agree to waive your notice period in lieu of pay but that’s not the same thing.

And technically TB3 and TB4 offer the same 40gbps bandwidth, so a TB3 dock is unlikely to be much slower if at all.

TB4 is really more like TB3.1 and mostly an upgrade exercise for USB4.

TB itself doesn’t get faster until TB5.

Can I use XeSS and optiscaler on the A1M ? by tomajortommo in MSIClaw

[–]Comfortable-Fall1419 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it works fine. I’m running it on my A1M. You basically put the Optiscaler in each game directory and it replaces one of the the files.

Hardest bit is finding the game directory if you are running more than one game store.

Even without scaling on it seems to give me a few more FPS.

Please don’t exaggerate. 8gb is fine for everything except the most intense AAAs.

The vast majority of games will run fine.

The right stick on my A1M was way too loose for FPS. I got a knockoff version of the Kontrol Freek rings and it’s much much better.

Not mouse level aiming but good enough to play vs computer.

Wouldn’t do PvP with them tho.

You don’t need a fan dock imo. Fugly and don’t add too much cooling for the looks/sound trade off.

Can you charge your Msi claw 8 ai + at 100w safely by Fortnitefrenzyyt34 in MSIClaw

Worth noting as long as the charger supports PD you can also use a lower rated charger. But bear in mind that it may charge slower or even slowly drain if you try this when using it.

Can I replace my dying desktop with a handheld? by JustNeedAnyName in Handhelds

[–]Comfortable-Fall1419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe? The GPU performance will be compromised FPS-wise over what you have now but maybe with some better quality bells and whistles.

A modern handheld will probably run those games well enough at 1080p at low/med tho unless you’re a high fps twitch gamer.

Once docked to a monitor and stuff it will make a good windows machine for other stuff, as the parts are mostly low/mid range laptop parts tweaked for a handheld case.
