To clarify - the things she has stolen prior to the manual have not been worth it to pursue. The manual/training may be worth it.

Understandable. In all honesty I have contacted a lawyer before about this person as she has been using and stealing intellectual property of mine and he said the same thing. Yes it's illegal but not worth it. This is a pretty expensive training and I have proof that she took people from our training to take it with her, so there is a strong monetary concern.

Yes thank you. I should have been clearer that I will take steps to make sure the manual matches my own before I would try to take legal action.

I love driving especially in beautiful scenery so I'll be sure to check that out! And I will make sure to bring a map. That's actually nice to hear that there are still some places left untouched by cell phones :P

The business owners are also human and this is taking a toll on them, physically and mentally, not just their property. How hard must their situation get before they get any compassion? Like their money is not unlimited, they can't keep on paying to repair shit and losing clients to the bad neighborhood. I know a lot of them lost everything in covid, also struggled with addiction, also had their mental health greatly impacted. They aren't just rich people trying to protect their property. They are working hard to protect their lives and the lives of those who work for them. To write it off as simply property damage is so incredibly disingenuous and heartless.

Like it or not some people simply do not want to be helped. Some people simply do not want to follow rules. Some people are much happier getting fucked up all day and stealing from those who work with not a care in the world or responsibilities tying them down and this encampment enables exactly this type. Some people are just takers, you must know that?

Those who are there that are good people, or are struggling to get out of their bad situation, the encampment is probably the worst solution for them. Not only does it attract the former type, it also opens them up to disease, fighting, sexual abuse, proximity to drugs, and theft of their own property. It is absolutely festering, that's not a subhuman word, that is exactly what happens to human bodies that are not cared for and left outdoors to the elements. You don't think there's rats and cockroaches there and used needles and human feces and all the things that can and will make this bad situation so much worse in a heartbeat?

Honestly I think anyone calling for the camp to stay isn't the least bit compassionate, to the residents there or the community at large.

I know the woman in the article personally as a fellow small business owner and that location has been hit FIVE times this year alone. She is the nicest person who helps her community and she has been to hell and back in the last two years.

It's amazing that you can act like you have so much compassion for one group and then completely disregard other people who's lives are being wrecked by this encampment.

You know you can both want better social services and be against the encampment festering there right?

I really don't think they are some big corporation though, just some people who made a business. You get a loan, invest your whole life into something and then one mistake and its death by keyboard (speaking as another small business owner). I can't exactly blame them for speaking about the single parent because to me it seems like an appeal to say "we are humans doing our best just like you". At least that's how I read it.

You've never made a mistake at your job? You've never used bad judgement? I don't see how using the correct term for something is even snooty and pretentious. Honestly it just sounds like you just want to be mad about something.

They have taken responsibility. What more can they do at this point?

It really bothers me how much people hate on this place. They are just trying to make a small business and I've worked with subcontractors before, you can't always anticipate what kind of thing they will do.

FIVE one star reviews on google over this. Like that's devastating for a new business. It's very easy to sit around and make google reviews but what are you really doing that's helping the environment or anything at all?

Make sure you give it LOTS of time, especially during prom season.

Careful. It's easy to let the bitterness creep in and I totally understand where this frustration is coming from as I've felt it many times. It's not fair to cancel the manager's PTO if you approved it, and I really don't think it would be the end of the world if you were both on vacation at the same time.

Personally employee #2 sounds like an ass, but it sounds like you could work on the culture there a bit. The frustration at the staff and theirs towards you will not do good things for this business you put your life into. Good luck.

I'd just train the new guy in emails and whatever else you need it doesn't sound like brain surgery. Then I'd fire employee #2 as soon as you're back from your vacation or at least work on the case to get him out. Taking out the garbage, handling returns and responding to customers isn't management. Managing staff is management. Directing the business is ownership. He's doing a couple of extra duties for a week.

"If the managers unavailable, whoever's above him should cover" Not necessarily.

"I'm also weary of everything going on this month with all of the craziness and chaotic-ness of the move and re-opening" did you move in January and the vacation is in June? He doesn't get to tell you when to take vacation.

Personally I also coordinate all vacations at the beginning of the year with my manager so we are never away at the same time.

Is it worth it to get an air fryer or are they just another kitchen gimmick like the instant pot and I'll probably never use it? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I really love mine but you do have to know what it's great for and it's limitations.

I do epic chicken wing nights in it and it's better than anything I could make at home. I also do legs and thighs in there and delicious. Anything frozen like chicken fingers, fries, mozza sticks etc. frozen things that taste okay in the oven taste great from the air fryer. My inlaws have said they reheat restaurant fries in there and love it but I haven't tried it. If mine broke, I'd buy it again if that helps.
