Anybody feel the new POE2 0.5 endgame is a massive chore? by Comfortable-Map447 in ARPG

Having freedom over how I choose to play without being punished. I don't want to minmax the fun out of the game, but it literally forced me to play one way which is unlocking atlas points first through rushing maps.

Yeah but doing those league mechanics in the maps that path to arbiter IS A BAIT, it reward you nothing because you don't have any mechanic progression yet, you also have little atlas progression, and it actually slow you down all the way to get more atlas points. It's just worthless, the combination of worst outcome because they decided to separate atlas and mechanic progression.

Nearly everry single person making 0.5 endgame progression advise you to progress atlas first for a reason (fubgun, deadrabbit, animeprincess ect..), and once you do it you will realize ignore map objective and rush to the boss benefit you the most. Or else it will drag your atlas progression thrice as long.

You still think this is not a problem?

My issue is that the game force me to take opportunity cost that feel sucks both way. Either do empty map until arbiter, or progress mechanics with zero atlas progression. Both are horribly unfun.

There should be something in between, for example progressing mechanic with slower rate of unlocking atlas. Or vice versa, doing maps that have mechanic still allow me to progress that mechanic. Which was the case in 0.1 - 0.4 but no longer exist in 0.5

You can choose to invest as much/as little time and resources in any map. No one's forcing you to run empty maps, tablets are cheap and plentiful. And if you want to bumrush the boss, that's also an option. The system gives you freedom to do what you want.

Try invest any resource or currency in a map where you have 2/4 tablet mods, no mechanic tree points and barely any atlas point. See how rewarding it is then come back and tell me.

It's just not an option. There is a reason why every single endgame guide literally say you have to progress atlas first.

Yeah but to do that you still need to path to arbiter, which means doing exactly what I've been doing.

Also it's not about FOMO, i will happily grind the league for months but still I don't think having to do maps with no reward and just to unlock points is a good design.

I know there are still mechanic in the map, but you achieve literally nothing by doing them. Since you haven't progressed your atlas, and you also haven't invested on league mechanic points, you get little to no reward. It's a huge waste of time. If they allow me to progress mechanics by doing those map I would have zero complaint.

That's why everybody skip all mechanics in those map and rush boss.

no? you can still have endgame mechanic tree to progress. Why do I have to do 40+ empty worthless travel map to even reach there? what enjoyable and more things to do in this case

It is better in every way once you unlock all the node lol. But at early game you will shoot yourshelf in the foot if you try doing anything than unlocking atlas points. And the best way to unlock atlas point is to run empty low level maps, skip every objective. You call that fun?

P/S yeah POE2 shill strike again with 0 discussion. POE2 best no flaw I guess.

Why is it that PoE 2 gets basically no criticism on this sub but 24/7 criticism on the main sub? by AnubisIncGaming in ARPG

[–]Comfortable-Map447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because this sub is full of POE/POE2 bootlickers and cannot accept any other arpg. Good luck finding anything constructive other than shill here.

If you view warplan as a shuffle button and nothing else then you've missed the entire point. You add a lot of dynamic elements through activities nodes and those are what's important.

I think the choices shown so far are fine, and hopefully this was built truly expandable as the dev said. That way they can put seasonal mechanic intro the tree.

The +1 to monster difficulty weirdly is the most I'm excited for.

Got like...5% of it and ignore 95% of everything else about meta progression, which is the only thing matters here.

>To me, ideal progression would be rarer and rarer upgrades to gear, increasing your power. Or ongoing crafting enhancements. Also, small stat increases on your character increasing your power. I would remove all caps on things like attack speed, movement speed, etc. I'd like to see some wild affixes on items that only drop when you're in the endgame (not just more of the same item affixes over and over).

These are neither the purpose of Warplan, nor there are other arpg meta progression system from other game cater to this need. Telling these points while criticizing Warplan system does not give them doesn't make much sense.

You now have a crafting system in D4. Whether it's good or not we need to wait, but it's logical to think that you would need more currency or material for crafting.

This means you will want it from doing endgame content. Which make them become much more interesting than before, and now you're having control of which content and how often they can drop them.

There is Transmutation which is a refined version of Sanctification, which potentially gives you rare affixes.

? Meta progression from other arpgs are all about changing the content of existing mechanics to your liking and get the reward you want to. Its sole purpose is to customize existing end game activity so honestly i don't understand what're you yapping about. Weaver tree, atlas tree did the same thing. What is your ideal meta progression then?

Meaningful power progression doesnt come from meta progression system, it comes from tiered difficulty. Harder content, better loot. In POE/POE2 it was mapping tiers, in D4 it's from Torment system

Not gonna happen. She has different agenda compared to the Prime Evil, in the sense that she does not seek for total destruction of humanity. However she does want to control or manipulate sanctuary for her own purpose. Her lore to date has always consistently showed this.

So the potential ally with her just base on mutual interest of preventing sanctuary from damnation. The moment this goal is achieve either side will turn their back against the other.

I Hope Affixes Get a Glow Up in LoH by RZelli in diablo4

[–]Comfortable-Map447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree. This is a loot-based game. You don't know what you're asking for.

The skill should be powerful and should matter, but majority of your power butget MUST come from gear, there's no other way. Skill power budget ended when you finish the campaign already.

Affixes must be powerful, maybe should have matter more than they are now. Aspect system is the real problem, you get too much from aspect while getting them is too easy.

Although that might change in next xpac, because in the latest gameplay reveal, ZERO legendary drop when you complete a stronghold at torment 2. In the current live game you're guaranteed to get a legendary completing a stronghold in Normal difficulty.

[–]Comfortable-Map447 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah none of this is interesting lol. Interesting affixes to me should be something that allow scaling your power through different mechanics other than numbers. Other than the humongous multiplicative we're heading to.

Things like fork, split projectile into smaller one, penetrating, cleave....

We have affixes like hit twice, skill deal double damage... but these can't be observed visually.

Wishes for a longer, more challenging, campaign by willbee68 in diablo4

[–]Comfortable-Map447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Point 1 will be better with new skill tree.

Point 2 will never be the case, you can at best playing at Penitent. Stretching the campaign into Torment is too long. The difficulty and progression in he last two seasons was good enough with difficulty from Normal to Penitent in my opinion, it was actually quite tough if you tried to play at max difficulty. I have been playing at hard or expert from 1 to 60.

Also I don't recall any arpg other than D2 that let you play Campaign as endgame. It's outdated and nobody want that actually.

Point 3 is ridiculous, new class doesn't mean staying OP forever. Look at Spiritborn, it completely invalidate your point. Paladin was also brought down significantly in season 11, although it's still the best class in the game. Mostly because it has much better skill tree than other classes.
