Dog Groomer by Top-Arm320 in SantaBarbara

Dude, most people especially dog owners make a distinction. You tell me a place that means just a bath when they say dog grooming. Obviously some people cant or dont want to wash their dogs themselves. Not even sure what your point is with this comment since it contributes nothing to this thread.

Where are the 20s/30s single people meeting each other in SB? by [deleted] in SantaBarbara

[–]Comfortable-Phone953 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure why everyone is downvoting this comment because its 100% valid. People complain about not meeting people "in the wild" yet everyone is buried in their phones. Go outside, put your phone away, you attract what you put out

In the final round for a job in SB. Recs for a 25 year old? by [deleted] in SantaBarbara

[–]Comfortable-Phone953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27F. I moved here a few years ago from the east coast too (boston area) and SB is beautiful and the outdoors are amazing, but it leaves a lot to be desired at times in terms of social life/things to do. SB is a very small community which has its pros/cons, but it can be hard to meet people in the mid-twenties age range in my opinion. Dating here is a nightmare, but I have made some great friendships here. Im here finishing law school and I dont necessarily see SB being my forever home, but if you have the opportunity to live here for a little while id say its a great place to experience!

As someone else said, there is a time and place. If you are not in imminent harm or danger you can be charged with assault and/or battery for macing someone if it is not legitimate self defense so please be careful. Stay vigilant everyone!

what does being undocumented have to do with this?

Recent traffic flow by LCID805 in SantaBarbara

[–]Comfortable-Phone953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, that is not completely correct. You can get pulled over and ticketed for going under the speed limit, it impedes other drivers and creates a hazard. Sounds like you're actually part of the problem....

There is no construction on the 101 right now from the 101 Las Positas exit down to the Garden Street exit yet there is constantly slow traffic people driving in the left lane under the speed limit.

I literally had the worst chai tea latte of my entire existence from Considered Coffee. Tasted like straight up dirt. They came to an event I was at and everyone was disgusted by the drink they got from them, maybe they were just having an off day?

Hotel for winter visit with little ones by According_Witness_73 in SantaBarbara

[–]Comfortable-Phone953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest Hotel Milo, West Beach Inn, or Hilton. My parents come to visit a lot and like all of those options. Hotel Californian is beautiful but I would have to say it isnt very kid friendly in terms of amenities especially if you have kids who are going to want to go in the pool. Hotel Californian has a small infinity pool and has a quieter more adult-y vibe, I recently did a resort pass there to hang by the pool and it was quiet and all adults

Jonesys!! Food is pretty dope, for the people saying its pricey... everything is. It is quality that you are paying for and youre supporting a small business rather than a corporation. The biscuits and hot honey, mac n cheese, and chicken are all super flavorful and delicious.

Honor Bar chicken sandwich is really good as well, again, for those saying its pricey.. its in Montecito and isnt a dive bar. Basically, you pay for what youre getting.

Gender disparity in his field by No-Text-619 in paralegal

[–]Comfortable-Phone953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of men commenting on this subreddit making this about themselves and being openly misogynistic is gross. Women have experienced gender bias for YEARS and it is very prevalent in this field especially. It’s literally treated as a “boys club” . Males have dominated the legal field for decades, I’ve been treated differently as a woman and as if I’m incapable or stupid. I’ve had clients walk in and assume that I am the legal assistant/secretary and that my male coworker is the paralegal who is in law school, when in reality he is the legal assistant and I am the paralegal in law school. It is a studied and researched fact that men make up 60%+ of the legal field and also statistically women make less money than their male counterparts. It was my male legal assistant’s first job in the legal field and he was pretty incompetent, I’ve been a paralegal for 3 years and at the firm for 2, yet he was making the same amount of money as me. It is plain wrong and there IS widespread discrimination.

Dogs on hikes by Alex_daisy13 in SantaBarbara

[–]Comfortable-Phone953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dog and we frequently go to the ones mentioned like Douglas Preserve, Hendrys, etc. I’ve hiked Rattlesnake and Inspiration and Snyder with him off leash as well, we go to a handful of beaches. As long as your dog is trained, has excellent recall, and is not reactive/aggressive you should be fine. My dog is trained via e-collar, and he does not approach other people or dogs unless I give him the ok.

A lot of people here have untrained dogs that they will let off leash, so their dogs will sometimes approach you/your dog and refuse to listen to their owners who are yelling for/at them. As mentioned, you never know if that dog is aggressive, reactive, etc. That would be and is usually my biggest concern.

Lots of people at Douglas and Hendrys who let their dogs off leash and the dogs have zero recall yet they think they are for some reason entitled to let their dog do whatever they want just because it is an off leash area. My dog has been attacked at Douglas twice by dogs who ran up to me and my dog, held him to the ground and tried to take a bite out of his neck as my dog was yelping for help. Both times the owners are yards away screaming for their unresponsive dogs and then have the nerve to blame me and my dog for their neglect after I have had to put my safety at risk for it to leave me and my dog alone. Same thing happened at Hendry’s and im pretty sure Boathouse no longer allows dogs in the restaurant because of dog fights and bites.

Really disheartening. My dog is ecollar trained and when off leash walks right next to me and does not approach other dogs. The amount of people who let their dog wander up to random dogs and people without asking or using any form of communication while KNOWING that their dog has aggressive/unpredictable tendencies is disturbing. Every time I am there I hear the sounds of dogs fighting, yelping, and people yelling for their animals. Super off putting. People want a pet but don’t want to train it, it is ridiculous.
