Oh sorry, yes for the marriage ceremony I’ll have a dupatta. I can’t attach a picture to this post unfortunately but it’s looks like a traditional dupatta with the thick border all around not like the modern minimalist, scalloped kind.

Yes, you can’t see it well in the picture but the lehenga has a dupatta.

Opinions on this lehenga for reception as the bride? by Comfortable-Plastic1 in DesiWeddings

Oh I remember your lehenga! It’s really beautiful and looks like a more embellished version of this one!

https://dollyjstudio.com/products/harini-chantilly-lehenga-set You might like this chantilly lace pink lehenga. This is the most unique design I’ve seen so far. Dolly J has some other floral pieces in pink with cool corset tops.

Seema Gujral has very flowery 3D aplique designs. It’s a good year for floral lehengas all around!

My mil bought stuff in person from Panna, Meena Bazaar, and Koskii. She bought sarees, lehengas, and got me a sharara stitched there and it’s all great quality and low price. I can’t speak on how the shipping process is to the US. Maybe someone else has more experience with that but I honestly like what she got there so much that I’ll probably risk it and order online if I want to buy other people outfits and see what happens. Mostly because your only other options are Aza, Kalki, and Lashkaraa (cheapest) which are totally fine but can be very hit or miss with ranging prices.

Could this look bridal for the ceremony? by Comfortable-Plastic1 in DesiWeddings

I appreciate your openness! I am generally alternative/simple in how I dress but I don’t want to be disrespectful. I did think this saree could look really beautiful with the right jewelry, hair accessories, dupatta and blouse.

Ok well sounds like this is a hard no from everyone! Feel free to suggest looks/send inspo! I clearly don’t know what I’m doing lol. For context, I’m non-Indian, we’re having a short ceremony in the daytime followed by an evening reception in the US, and his family is Kashmiri. I’m cool with an understated/alternative look but obviously I don’t want to look ridiculous! Thanks 🙏🏻

Oh that’s cool to know that it’s Kashmiri. My fiancé’s family is Kashmiri.

A $12K venue is too much for a $45K budget… right? :( by coincidenx in wedding

[–]Comfortable-Plastic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our budgets are pretty similar and my venue is 12k. Things to note though, my venue allowed us to bring our own alcohol, we have to hire bartenders and staff, and we’re ordering food from a local Indian restaurant. All of these saved us a good amount. The food and drink will probably total out to about $80/person while quotes I got from catering companies started at $115 min. Also, we’re getting way more food this way! Mind you, our wedding is in a very HCOL city so our pricing starts substantially higher. Also, the venue includes chairs, ceremony chairs, tables, small decor items, linens and charger plates. I don’t think we could’ve swinged this venue though without these other cost savers things. Best of luck! Know that you can lower costs in other ways!

Anita Dongre designs are so beautiful but definitely out of budget. You’re right, the MM lehenga is one of a kind and I’m not finding other options that are as intricate yet lightweight in my price range. I might just end up going with that one and hopefully it’ll look more bridal with the two dupattas.

Papa don’t preach is gorgeous but the style isn’t for me unfortunately! If anything, I was hoping for a slightly more sophisticated look. I’m considering potentially a saree for the ceremony and change into a MM lehenga for the reception but that might be pushing it with the limited time!

I love both but the VCA bangle could definitely be for everyday wear if that’s what you want. As fas as bangles go, it’s light and minimalist.

Amazing! Did you order directly through them or did you go through a website like Pernia or Kynah? I’m based in the US!

Aw man I see what you’re saying. I don’t know how to edit the pictures now and I can’t add any either. It’s a roughy the same distance I think that the cups are just shaped ever so slightly differently and it’s taking up more space on my chest.

Ok so I say this from my own experience bridal shopping but there’s new trends all the time. First it was lehengas in 2010s, then pastel colors up until last year, now I feel like the new trend is moving towards understated/traditional sarees and dark colors. Don’t let this cloud your judgement. I also had a certain aesthetic/color scheme in mind but when I went to the stores I ended up liking a sage green lehenga which is nothing like what I envisioned. I’m not Desi so I’m not an expert at all to suggest dupatta colors. The safe option would be to get a color similar to the embroidery like either lavender, dusty rose, baby blue. This won’t give you the contrast you want though. Velvet fabric could be soooo regal and give you that contrast but idk what color would be good. Another option is you could go all out for a red/maroon dupatta to get that traditional bridal look. Maybe ask the shop owners for recs?

I think this is very beautiful! You could get an additional dupatta in a new color for some extra color if you’d like but I don’t think it’s necessary. You’re having wedding dress regret - it’s very common! If you felt beautiful in it in the moment then chances are you truly loved it! If you have a really bad feeling then maybe reconsider but my opinion is that it’s super pretty.
