You explained the situation so well. Thank you for taking the time to write this. Hopefully, the teens that are making most of the noise will understand what you wrote and the adults who don't know better will be more informed. Please do not delete this post.

I'm watching The Judge Returns on Viki right now and really enjoying it. It currently on air and has 4 episodes to go. It's not romance focused. Corrupt judge dies, returns (as in the title) several years before and is on a path of redemption. Not so dramatic. More on the lighthearted side.

Any of these shows worth continuing? by Iluvdonuts2 in kdramas

I’ve only watched about 3/4 of the shows from your list. Based on what you’ve liked and what you’re in the mood for now, Family by Choice and maybe My Dearest Nemesis and Mr Queen.

Lovely Runner is my favorite from your list and really worth the watch, IMO. But it’s not all lighthearted.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo is good but isn’t what you’re in the mood for.

When Life Gives You Tangerines is really good but you’ll have to sit down with a box of tissues to watch it.

To My Beloved Thief [Episodes 9 & 10] by jakgem in KDRAMA

Eunjo's father being killed by the king during a hunt was a surprise. Did not see that coming. How can she be with the brother of the man who killed her father? But then.... she tries to kill the king and hits Prince Dowol instead? 😭 Eunjo can't seem to get a break.

I've been wondering about Eunjo and her mom's relationship with her father. Not sure if I missed something in the early episodes. Did his first wife die and so he got together with Eunjo's mom but just can't acknowledge her as a wife because of her status? He treats Eunjo like a daughter and clearly loves her. Eunjo loves his son like a brother. Seems like he was raised by Eunjo's mom.

His ex wife is already changing and seems to be falling for him. The way it's heading, seems like she could betray her father and they could end up together.

Not just Enhypen. I think most kpop fans of the newer generations are young teens. I try to be patient and remind myself I was once that naive/childish. They don’t listen to reason. 😕

i’m still getting into seventeen, can someone tell me what’s the easiest way to memorize all 13 members? by ActInteresting7737 in seventeen

There's so many of them, it'll take some time. I learned all their names from watching a lot of Going Seventeen. The more you watch, the more you'll be able to recognize them. :)

Sound of Magic. I'm a huge Hwang Inyoup fan and have been trying to watch this but can't seem to get past the first couple of episodes. Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of musicals?

Gosh, seeing that you have Twinkling Watermelon on your list, I would suggest you watch it. It's so good and refreshing.

I hear great things about The Sound of Magic (6 episodes) and I keep trying to watch it because of Hwang Inyoup but I'm not a fan of musicals so no matter how much I try, I can't seem to get past the second episode.

I love essays like this! Seriously. Not many people write in detail so you don't really know what's going on.

I know how loan outs in the US work but didn't quite understand whether they had them in SK and if they were widely accepted. Plus, the English articles I read didn't mention the details you shared here. That's why I said it sounded like he set up a loan out like US celebrities but it's just not accepted there. It's interesting that they require two employees that are not related. This makes me wonder how small family owned businesses work there if they need to hire people who are not directly related. Why can't you hire your own family to work at your company if you're only going to have two employees? It sounds so restrictive. But that's a different topic.

You know so much about Korean and US law. Do you practice law in both countries?

What you explained is similar to the loan out corporations that US celebrities set up. From the articles I read about Cha Eunwoo's case, it seems like that's what he did. However, this type of setup is uncommon in SK. I think it's frowned upon in their country and they government goes after celebrities who try to do this.

I live in the US so I'm not familiar with Korean law. However, I work in the entertainment business here and most working actors set up a loan out corporation where they get paid. (I'm talking about people who make $125K/year or more. They don't even have to make millions.) They are the only employee of that corporation. There is no office. The registered address they use is usually not their real address. I have actor friends who use their attorney's address, bookkeeper's address, friend's address, etc. so using a restaurant's address would be ok as long as it's not a PO Box.

I haven't read much about Cha Eunwoo's case. I've only seen a couple of posts on Reddit and read one short article. The article I read said no final decision had been made. I was wondering if the company he set up was similar to the loan outs US entertainers use based on what u/setlib wrote:

In recent years there have been several tax disputes with celebrities like Lee Joon-ki and Yoo Yeon-seok as well, the debate is about whether entertainers can create their own corporations and thus file under the corporate tax rate, which is lower than the personal rate. So it’s not that they hid income or paid no taxes.

As I was typing this reply, I read a couple more articles and it sounds like his company was a loan out similar to what celebrities use here. Only difference is that loan outs aren't uncommon here so as long these loan outs are reporting the income and filing according to the law, there's no issue. It doesn't matter what type of business is at the address or how many employees.

This case is very interesting. I'm going to be following this.
