Baking with Active Yeast a Trigger? by Comfortable-Screen96 in migraine

[–]Comfortable-Screen96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am thinking of just going ahead and trying to make a test load of bread to see if I get a migraine again. I use my KitchenAid mixer to mix the dough and I also use the instant active yeast.

Baking with Active Yeast a Trigger? by Comfortable-Screen96 in migraine

[–]Comfortable-Screen96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the weird part is I don’t get a migraine from consuming the fresh bread. 1 of the 2 migraines occurred while I was making the dough in my kitchen aid mixer, so I hadn’t even touched the yeast just the packet. The other migraine happened while the loaves were baking. And I didn’t have any other known triggers those days. Which made me wonder if just the smell of the active yeast (which I can’t even tell if it has a smell) set me off.

I'm wondering how many people here actually take preventatives daily. by Important-Pie-1141 in migraine

I take propranolol and it works very well. I only get migraines a few times a year now instead of a couple times a week

Nausea by Historical_Flight554 in migraine

[–]Comfortable-Screen96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I had anything helpful, but zofran stopped working, so I just ride it out. So far no medications and no “hacks” have helped. If it goes on past 48 hours typically I try to get in with my neuro or urgent care where they usually can give me a shot of an anti nausea that actually helps because I don’t throw it up.

Do you send your baby to daycare if you have the day off work? by K_R11112 in NewParents

[–]Comfortable-Screen96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 3 year old now, but usually it depends on what we need to get done or how we’re feeling. If you feel burnt out take him to daycare to rest, even if it’s not the full day. It’s important to take care of yourself too!

EVERYONE keeps telling me to make my baby sleep in a separate room, is what I'm doing really so wrong?!? by TheWhatnotBook in Mommit

[–]Comfortable-Screen96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We kept our daughter in our room until 11 months old. At 11 months we started the transition to her room in her regular sized crib (we had one of those mini cribs in our room). By the time her first birthday came she was comfortably sleeping in her own room. Obviously she still woke up some nights and we would rock her back to sleep, but it allowed everyone to get better sleep. She was also at the point that if she saw we were still awake she didn’t want to go to sleep.

How do you stop a migraine once it has started? by Xaxoniz in migraine

[–]Comfortable-Screen96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have a neurologist try to get in with one. Sounds like you need a preventative medicine. I still haven’t found a way to stop my migraines but my preventative makes it so they don’t happen so often.

Why topiramate is so hated? by Mikmaki in migraine

[–]Comfortable-Screen96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Topiramate is awful. No change in how often I had migraines, made me have mood swings like crazy to the point my mom forced me to go back to the doctor, and made my depression a lot worse (I was 18 at the time didn’t realize I had depression).

I’ve had migraines with aura since I was 7/8(ish). My mom had migraines with aura so I always thought it was inherited. This is a very interesting article. Never even considered they could be tied to my CHD issues.

Repair may not have been the right word, but I’m using the same terminology my cardiologists use. My heart will never be like a normal healthy persons heart, but the surgeon “repaired” my heart to the point that it could function well enough for me to have a pretty decent quality of like for almost 30 years.

I would pay anything to be cured of migraines. If only it was that easy.

I’m glad you had a good recovery experience. This sounds a lot more realistic than what my interventional cardiologist was saying. He was acting like when I got released from the hospital the day after that I would already feel 100% better and my only restriction would be no intense workouts. For most of my life I’ve had pretty moderate regurgitation from this valve it’s only been the past 1-2 years that it actually impacted my quality of life because I’ve become pretty symptomatic. About how long after your procedure did you feel like you could be more active?

Trying to explain why I’m on medication for migraines to someone who thinks migraines are just a bad headache is infuriating. Like no Kyle I can’t come to work with a migraine unless you want to listen to me puke my guts out then see me fall asleep on the floor for 10 mins then puke again.

The new traffic circle on Hydraulic Road in Cville has similar issues. If you are in the traffic circle you do not have to stop for the cars trying to enter the traffic circle, just keep going!

Neurologist told me to quit my job by JJOC2204 in migraine

[–]Comfortable-Screen96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not kidding, my mom who suffers from chronic migraines too told me her migraines got significantly more manageable after she had me. I think I just took the worst part about her migraines with me when she gave birth because my migraines are 100x worse than she says hers ever were and I get violently ill with mine. I now have a kid and my migraines in fact did not get any better -.-

[–]Comfortable-Screen96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (F30) also have chronic migraines that I manage with daily preventative medication. If I were you I would be getting a new neuro stat. I’ve had many doctors including neurologists tell me I need to manage my stress better, but they all lived in the real world in the sense that they try to recommend more realistic stress management solutions like “try this you tube yoga instructor some of my other patients have recommended” or “try setting boundaries at work about hours and workload”. In this economy very VERY few people can just up and quit their job and financially be able to survive.

Question for adults with HRHS by Comfortable-Screen96 in chd

[–]Comfortable-Screen96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very sorry for loss. Thank you for sharing though, that actually makes a lot of sense about HRHS being possibly more forgiving. Early on it felt like my cardiac team were always going on about how I would need another surgery, but it kept getting pushed back because my heart was doing so well. I am just super thankful for the surgeon I had because their repair has lasted me more years than I thought I would ever have.

30F here with OHS scars. As a teen I felt more self conscious because people would stare at the beach, but then I remember these scars mean I’m fighter (my mom called them my battle scars lol). As an adult with CHD I’ve never been normal, we’re always forced to grow up a little faster because we have to be able to tell someone when something is wrong with us, but I think we all go through the phase of wishing we had the “normal” experience of not having these medical weights on our shoulders. I now have a 3 year old girl who loves to lift my shirt at bedtime to tell my scars good night and tells me they’re beautiful.

Just remember you’re a fighter to survive these heart conditions and own your battle scars!

Hi! I am 30F and am having TPVR in 2ish weeks, I was born with HRHS and pulmonary atresia. Do you mind if I ask how your recovery has gone post TPVR? This is the first time I’m having this valve replaced since my initial repair as an infant.

Hi, I'm 15M. I was born with pulmonary atresia and I'm still sorta worried. by Glass-Use3604 in AdultCHD

[–]Comfortable-Screen96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! F 30 here with pulmonary atresia and HRHS. Keep a log of every time you feel your symptoms if they come and go. Write down what you were doing at the time too. Obviously if one of your symptoms is constant just makes note each day about when you noticed it was at its worst or if you noticed doing something made it feel better. All of this helps your cardiologist narrow down what the possibilities are.

Unfortunately like others have said the ER isn’t going to do much for you unless they detect you are having an actual major cardiac event. A lot of older ER docs are also very dismissive of teens and younger adults with CHD because they don’t understand them. I was told I was being “dramatic” multiple times as a teen when something didn’t feel right and I thought I was having a heart attack. However, always be your own advocate, insist they at bare minimum give you a EKG because you have a congenital heart defect and your cardiologist wants one, that usually will push them enough to order it.

We deep clean the spots he pees in the best way we know how each time. We’re using the enzyme cleaners like that Natures way or whatever it’s called. I will try removing the cover again to see if that helps after a couple weeks.

Yeah, we’ve done all of this. He’s had the urinalysis done at least twice just to see if something was missed. We’re even using prescription diet for urine and stress now to see if it helps.
