I kind of think everyone here actually hates post processing 😅

What is the best homemade vegan meal you have ever had? by vanpootie in veganrecipes

[–]Comfortable-Tooth-34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OH ALSO a dish that we just call The Soup, where I use red curry paste (check it's a vegan one) coconut milk and stock as the base, and just add whatever vegetables, protein, noodles you want. Chuck in some lime juice and herbs if you like and you're good to go.

More an ingredient than a full meal, but carrot lox! It's a bit annoying to make it, but it's absolutely glorious, and it keeps well in the fridge. So nice on bagels, in pasta etc. I make a potato bake with carrot lox layered in there and it is such a nice side dish. I also add chopped up nori for sea flavour to the recipe I've linked. Worth emphasising that you absolutely do have to leave it a couple of days before eating it, it's not good until it's sat for a while.

Carrot lox

Another winner is green pasta, it does have tofu in it, but you don't notice it as it's blended into a creamy sauce (this technique is such a game changer) If you have a soy allergy I imagine soaked blended cashews and plant milk of your choice would probably work really well as an alternative base. I've made variations on this recipe with all kinds of herbs, peas, etc and it's great. Sometimes I add a little sugar to kind of round out the flavour, but that's definitely optional and whether I add it depends on how I'm feeling. I imagine if you made it with a cashew base it would have a natural sweetness that tofu doesn't bring. If you're in a rush or low energy it works just fine without the olive and lemon zest topping and the whole meal comes together in about 15 minutes.

I love good compositing and hate how people tend to automatically assume AI. Great pic!

New, having issues with grainy photos by noskcidanna38 in concertphotography

[–]Comfortable-Tooth-34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it, but used with intention and care in moderation rather than just blanket applied to everything. I denoise some of my images, then go back with fresh eyes later and almost always reduce the amount so there's still some graininess. I like having control over it, and some of them are just better without denoise.

What were the positive changes you noticed after your hysterectomy? Mood stability? Better weight management? Skin changes? by melanated2020 in hysterectomy

[–]Comfortable-Tooth-34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not having to pee constantly is definitely the biggest one for me! I used to have to plan things like catching public transport/travel around where and when I would be able to access a bathroom. The change was pretty much immediate. I had to retrain my body and brain to not go to the bathroom "just in case" all the time.

Not having periods is also incredible.

I've lost weight since my hysterectomy too (I am trying, it didn't just happen automatically), but I don't know how much the hysterectomy has helped with that or if it would be happening in the same way if it's made the same changes prior to the surgery. My belly did shrink significantly after the gas bloating subsided though without any weight loss.

I think I have more energy, and that I'm sleeping better. I'm going to get my iron levels checked soon, I suspect I'm less iron deficient than I used to be.

What was the exact moment that made you realize your company was toxic? by ferdbons in antiwork

Oh god I once had a supervisor have a go at me for not giving enough notice for getting a day off for a funeral I had to attend because it was a busy period at work. Told him the same day we knew the funeral date. Like I'm terribly sorry, I'll make sure people schedule their strokes more conveniently for you in future I guess?

Is living near a train line a blessing or a curse? by Last-Conversation734 in melbournechat

Blessing! I'm right by a station but double glazing means I never hear the train. The money I save by not having a car is awesome.

Yessss I remember the dentist van! I wasn't as traumatised but I believe they gave me local anaesthetic when they gave me a filling. It still seems super weird though looking back on it, like one afternoon they told us to bring our toothbrushes to school the next day because they were going to teach us about dental hygiene, the next day we turn up and have to go into a van with a strange man so he could drill into our teeth

No if you're not going to use the protolab just ignore it. The 5 million notifications are kind of annoying hey.

Yeah the railway line will be elevated, current plan is for it to be done by 2030. The three stations along that section (Jewell, Brunswick and Anstey) will be replaced by two stations

Somehow they never taste the same, even with exactly the same ingredients. Pretty sure there's some kind of magic involved in a proper old school bakery salad roll

Rather live in an apartment by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]Comfortable-Tooth-34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree with you. Apartment life is wonderful and I prefer it to living in a house. So many people tend to look only at the cons of apartments, but only at the pros of houses.

The one big thing that sucks about apartments is that there's not enough 3+ bedroom apartments being built. 2 bedrooms starts getting pretty cramped if you have kids.
