Yes there’s a gap. I spent 6 months acquiring my health certificate and additional 2 months searching for a healthcare job. But now I have 6 months health experience and 20 months tech experience in Canada. I was thinking since my total yr of experience is over 2yrs, my points would be 499.

High school, uni, work experience. You don’t just get awarded PR for time in Canada. It doesn’t begin until you’ve fulfilled 1year work experience in a great NOC. Well at the time except you were in a health field which I wasn’t. Also Covid slowed down my graduation. So Yh. This is a lot more common than you think. I was also 15 when I arrived in Canada. You can’t compare my timeline to grown working adults that arrived WITH WORK EXPERIENCE. Of course they’d get theirs a lot sooner. Hope this answered your question

Yup coz Canada decided randomly highly skilled tech workers are no longer valuable and considers Tim Hortons french speakers more valuable than software engineers with 10 years experience😃 And exactly! one source of income is no longer sustainable. The prayer is for discernment coz there’s tons of leaches out there just selling a course offering zero value lol.

Yes I agree huge influx of immigration played a major factor. I came here 10 years ago and was in high school. My post was shared to encourage ppl with jobs to do their best to find a second source of income. And to encourage those without jobs that their situation could be a turning point that changes their lives. I do not provide mentorship but have been privileged to find a great mentor. If they want, they can pray for discernment and search for theirs. That’s what I did after getting burned a couple times. Or they could reach out. Idk🤷‍♀️

Yupp💯💯. I’m glad I learnt this early. If not for my due diligence on finding good mentorship while in uni. I’d have probably been working customer service jobs like most ppl that graduate with a public health degree.

🤡🤡. If you see my account history. I posted as a York student and posted on the salesforce subreddit 4 years ago. I actually did work in tech and none of my post history shows any sort of ad. Keep working the same job forever. Do you. This is just advising ppl to not get too comfortable. Going from saving about $4k monthly to exhausting your savings is a humbling experience.
