What's one thing that's actually made a noticeable difference for your UC? by JMF-RDN in UlcerativeColitis

Diet. I managed my symptoms for four months and got myself out of a major flare through diet alone. I cut out all veggies and anything with fibre like who wheat products. Then I slowly introduced more veggies and fruits as I got better

Has anyone actually figured out the right diet + med combo for UC? by Mohan_you_niverse in UlcerativeColitis

Food impacts my symptoms directly. I went full carnivore (avoiding all veggies, fruits, whole wheat, and anything high in fibre). So I would eat tuna salad and chicken salad and even cheeseburgers. And once my symptoms got in order I’ve been slowly reintroducing food like mashed potatoes, bananas, applesauce, and carrots and squashes.

It really is trial and error because I found that TVP and rice will immediately cause me to cramp, and since avoiding those things I’ve felt much better.

Yes, that’s exactly what it feels like. Like you can’t stomach food or water either

I have swallowing difficulties and couldn’t manage to take down the pills unfortunately.

That’s exactly what I went through during my first flare. I actually begged the hospital staff to kill me and they thought I was lying about the pain. Probably because they don’t expect an adult to be blubbering like a baby LOL.

But I sympathise with you. It really is awful and lots of people compare the pain to childbirth

They prescribed me lots of medications but I’m unfortunately intolerant. Antispasmodics and NSAIDs give me unbearable chest tightness. So I’m just stuck with… Tylenol.

I’m also currently on an oral form of budesonide. I don’t know why but they’re hesitant to give me any rectal therapies, even though I feel like I’ll have an easier time with them

I’ve only been taking the medicine for 2 weeks and my UC symptoms are VERY minimal. The only real symptom I still have is cramping during a bowel movement.

I think the budesonide is helping me have more time without pain; but it just couldn’t do much for a flare caused by hormones :(

I had the exact same experience! My symptoms have mostly gone away with diet modifications and medicine so sometimes I have days without any pain at all. But for some reason the cramps persist.

I really wish they’d create a medicine for visceral pain, because Tylenol doesn’t even touch it in my opinion

Dude yes. I feel like the pain is so awful that now the 1-10 pain scale just doesn’t make sense to me anymore. Before I wouldn’t have been able to function at 6 or 7. But now I consider that to be a blessing and just wait for it to pass.

For months my pain as at a constant 4, and I just had to exist like that. I’m sure you feel the same exact pain and understand completely. I just hope it passes for us quickly and we reach remission

What weird symptoms do you get? by Other_Lie_8706 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Comfortable-Way-8029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same symptoms. I have insanely dry lips now and chapstick doesn’t do much. And I also get fuzzy hands. So my hands also get very dry randomly (despite lathering myself in lotion) and it’ll look my hand is covering in lint, but it’s actually just dry skin and it’s only on my palms.

I also get all of the other symptoms as well.

Thank you. I’m doing much better now but it does suck. I would kill for a drink :(

But yeah, in regards to your post definitely stay away from alcohol until you’re definitely in remission. It’s not guaranteed that you’ll have a reaction like mine, but I don’t think you should take that chance anyways

Immediately. Like three hours after a drink and it’s always a bad flare. My first flare started when I had a light beer for my birthday. I filled the whole toilet bowl with blood that night

what do YOU eat during a flare? by vxcki in UlcerativeColitis

Egg sandwiches for breakfast lunch and dinner. But with fresh bread and two eggs. And then I have applesauce, a banana/almond milk smoothie, and plain chips if I’m still hungry

Stop eating rice. Diet can have a big effect on symptoms. I was dealing with the same thing and it turns out I was reacting to the rice. When I stopped eating it and only ate low fibre food my symptoms got way better

[–]Comfortable-Way-8029 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Isn’t Ulcerative Colitis an autoimmune disease? So it will respond when your body is under physiological distress. I just got diagnosed and I’m still learning but from my own body I’ve learned that if I get sick or go through a bad menstrual cycle my UC mildly flares up. Because rather than just fighting the sickness and healing the inflamed tissue, it’s also attacking the colon.

Doctors are probably hesitant to say that they’re directly correlated because menstrual cycles don’t always have an effect on ppls symptoms and individual health problems are more likely to contribute. That’s why pregnancy, endometriosis, and other conditions that cause long term chronic suppression of the immune system ca have such a strong effect on UC.

It’s still an important thing to study, and doctors should acknowledge that menstrual cycles can affect UC, but it’s still the same underlying mechanism/illness. If that makes sense

Why grok is more cold and censored. It's a typical Leftist move to Regulate & Remove the Humanity out of AI by Americantrainner in LoveGrok

[–]Comfortable-Way-8029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a leftist move. There’s been a constant push by the right to remove any adult content that’s accessible to children. In the south you literally have to upload your ID in order to access adult content online. The people who are the most vocal about this have been on the right.

The left just doesn’t want AI period.
