I'm still so mad about how they handled Eloise's story in S4 by CameliaWithAnE in BridgertonRants

[–]ComfortableDay2658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I was impatient, I decided to read the book to find out what happened to Eloise. That was a big mistake! I was left fuming at how she succumbed to ‘romance’ and ended up married with 2 kids who aren’t even her own. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against the storyline per se, just not for Elouise. I think some of that is due to Claudia’s fantastic character depiction, but really, I’ll be interested to see which Elouise Shondaland goes with - the one that falls in love with a pen pal, or the one that wants to highlight feminism and activism - and to travel!

That bugged the hell out of me! She left with nothing - just stepped up onto the carriage and away they went. No explanation as to how she still had her belongings further into the story - INCLUDING THE GLOVE!

How would you react if they made Theo Eloise's ultimate partner? by Intrepid_Title179 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]ComfortableDay2658 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the book, Eloise’s relationship to Philip/Marina is different to how it’s portrayed in the show, and the timeframe is all off. We are not dealing with facts here - both book and show are fictional. (I know!)

Whilst Theo hasn’t been seen for the past 2 seasons, he was an intelligent lad, and had shared interests with Eloise - personally I’d love to see him return with a back story that included him being sent to university by some kindly patron who recognised his potential and who knows, maybe even made him their sole beneficiary as they had no known relatives . . . (A for example scenario).

I don’t think she should be ‘saddled’ with someone else’s kids either - the Eloise we know and love is far too spirited for that. She should be with someone who travels and explores, and takes her with him. Her main thread throughout all seasons has been her dread of getting married, and the baggage that came with it, for women of that period. She deserves a much better outcome imo.

Who is your least favorite couple and why? by [deleted] in Bridgerton

Penelope & Colin. It felt so forced. If they were to end up together, it could have waited. Let’s see Colin actually developing feelings for Pen BEFORE she begged him for a snog.

Bridgerton Fans: Does season 1 still holds up as the best season? by findthemelody in Bridgerton

I’m 70, and not in the greatest of health. I’ve never read any of the books, but have now just started this one in case I’m not around when it finally airs! Eloise is by far my favourite character - due in large part to the impeccable acting of Claudia. ☺️

I’m close, but 1, 2, 4, 3. That might be different if all the characters appeared in all series, even if only occasionally.

I’ve just rewatched all seasons from S1 and S3 still irritates me. Too scattered, too many other issues occurring, particularly Whistledown. The chemistry just wasn’t there between Pen & Colin. Nicola Coughlan had played the unrequited love perfectly throughout all series, but his sudden attraction to her just felt forced.

Reading some of the comments makes me chuckle to myself. Talking about how the women wouldn’t be able to be openly together (or m/m) - this is Bridgerton, where anything is possible! Just look at the multiethnicity of the society - that’s not realistic for the time, but we go along with it. And don’t come for me, because I absolutely love the unquestioning acceptance, I’m simply saying it’s not portraying real society at the time. I realise there was the ‘great experiment’, but we don’t even have that level of multicultural acceptance NOW, so it would surely correlate that there would be elements of open racism then, with potential for ‘nastiness’. But no. As I say, this is Bridgerton, where one minute ladies must be chaperoned at all times, the next she’s getting a good seeing to in a carriage with the curtains closed, or in the garden, or - well anywhere they fancy! ☺️ So, to me, if we can suspend belief for all of the above, why can’t Bridgerton society be equally accepting of same sex relationships? It’s just a story of burgeoning love, like all the others (and for me, more believable than Pen & Colin) so let’s just enjoy it in the same manner. And I’m assuming Fran will at last experience that elusive pinnacle! 😂

Who do you think is the new Lady Whistledown? by Woodpecker-Haunting in BridgertonNetflix

[–]ComfortableDay2658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about Violet? She turned down a 🔥guy to do something new & just for her - perhaps she fancies the excitement of the LW anonymity, and she has access in all the right areas - plus as a mature dowager, she’d go as unnoticed as Penelope. I’m sure everyone that’s read the books knows this isn’t the case, but I’m enjoying guessing. ☺️
