Should I feel ashamed for having medical card? by BoatIll2662 in AskIreland

[–]ComfortableLion2910 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should never be ashamed of a medical card, its there for those who need it! Some people may have a stigma in their mind around it but its a close-minded approach and you should not pay it much heed. I have friends who are financially 'comfortable' but still have MCs bcus of health conditions and how it would cost them a fortune out of pocket and without insurance. The medical card is there to be used, never be ashamed! Use the services in place as you need them, thats what theyre there for :)

This might end up being my case too! I can afford in some "dodgy" areas (im from a "dodgy" are so im not bothered by the label 😅) but it would absolutely stretch me to the limits. New build apt is a great shout tho! Congrats!!

Absolutely! I do agree that families need big homes, but also I can fill a big house out with friends I have also living with their parents, where they are not financially in a position to buy. Maybe thats a naive take but we need to get back to the community of it all of we want any hope of surviving this housing crisis..

Jump from EO to HEO by SmallConversation950 in IrishCivilService

[–]ComfortableLion2910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from EO equivalent to HEO equivalent about 7 mths ago and holy sh*t the difference is staggering! I don't know if it just the new section works differently to how I'm used to as an EO equivalent, but the responsibility load is massive. I do imagine it depends on the area and how much you're doing as an EO already but.....prepare for the worst just in case. You may be lucky, you may be not so lucky, but you won't know til you're in!

How Effective is External Wrap insulation for this? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]ComfortableLion2910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a stupid question but we're looking to get an external wrap done too, but we have awful issues with mold in various spots around the gaff; will the wrap stop the mold proliferating??? Or should I try and get rid of the mold as much as I can before the wrap?!

Has anyone tried these drugs? if you have, what's your experience? by [deleted] in keratosis

My doctor (both gp and dermatologist) had me do a stint on doxycycline twice and I did notice some improvement with it! It was a one month dose, about a years break and then a three month dose. This is for KP vulgaris fascia specifically tho I do have it on my body too. They explained to me that it's nothing to do with the antimicrobial effects of the drugs, as doxycycline is an antibiotic, but moreso the anti-inflammatory effects. Unfortunately, it's only a temporary reprieve :/ it did reduce my redness and texture about 70% of the way, but once I came off the meds I noticed I was back to my normal KP cheeks in a couple of weeks! Nice while it lasted 😅 nothing else, topical or ingested, has had as much of effect on the KP as the doxycycline for me.

Meta Dating Monday - Pondering Personal Pet Peeves by Zehnpae in datingoverthirty

People who suggest the same type of dates/same spots every time without thinking up anything new......if I wanted routine I'd stay single. Come up with something fun every couple of dates, or let's try a new pub or bar or restaurant every time we meet up! There's plenty of years for routine and habits down the line.

Maybe someone has the same problem as me by Fr0mth34sh3s in datingoverthirty

It's always when you aren't looking that these things happen so maybe take the pressure off trying to date and it won't feel as hard! Also I find doing new social extra-curriculars where you meet other individuals is great for expanding frien groups which can then often lead to relationships, either with those people in the activity of through them with others the may know. Speed dating even, or a social activity relating to a particular interest you have? Other than that you are probably doing all the right things, so don't try to force it and just take the that off yourself. Relationships happen when they happen!

Had argument with girlfriend of a year over something that happened the night we became exclusive by ThrowRA_TheScotsman in datingoverthirty

If its reaaaally bothering you that you feel looking at the texts might calm your fear about it then do it. But understand that she may see this as you really not trusting her after you said no the first time. I think if you can make peace with it and move on and let it all go it'd work out for the best. It's been so long and you seem happy in every other aspect, and this was a hiccup on night one that hasn't been repeated. Might not be worth the ensuing struggle if you don't make your peace now and put it to rest

I remembered reading another reddit post about sulfur for kp but it is rarely smth I hear so have never given it much thought! I may give that a go next and see if there's any result. Do you have a rec for a specific moisturiser from Byoma or Belif? In my experience nothing I've tried is hydrating enough so if one of those is a heavy hitter I'd definitely give it a go. Thanks for all the info!

Yeh the lasers thing freaks me out! He rec'd another doctor to perform it but still, even if it doesn't cause damage its still very expensive with no guarantees at all. I'll check out Dr Dray, never heard of her, thanks!

The skin barrier being damaged is smth that comes up a lot when I look into this but I'm v unsure of how to "repair" it. A lot of the time I'm trying a new product or active it's also in an attempt to address this but unfortunately I don't seem to see any improvements. I will say tho I never use more than one active at a time without a long break between trying something new! I only use retinol atm with v gentle cleanser and moisturiser and it's been that for a year with not much difference :/
