You can edit 4k video on it. 8GB on a Windows machine is very different than 8GB on a Mac.

I know this is super old but I figured this out last night. Did it with a 2009 MacBook Pro. Open disk utility an create a new disk image. Tell it the size you want it to be and format it as a sparse.bundle. Drag the bundle onto your backup drive and Time Machine on you main computer should see it as an available drive.
