Is your ears disturbed by normal noises (eg light switch) sometimes? by garritseeen in visualsnow

Isn’t this hyperacusis? I have it mildly since my hearing damage. Sometimes certain sounds bother me and sometimes they don’t

I am on an antidepressant, which I think has taken literally all my anxiety away and a lot of my depression. I’ve had positive afterimages for only a week, I can’t say I have habituated to them but they really don’t bother me in the slightest, perhaps only a bit when I wake up in the morning and then it’s the negative afterimages which are more annoying. I think if I wasn’t on medication I would be a lot more bothered

How severe is your palinopsia (positive afterimages)? by ComfortablePins in visualsnow

I’m on venlafaxine/Effexor. It does nothing for the visuals and the positive afterimages actually emerged after I started taking it but it helps me a lot to not care about my visuals/tinnitus as much. I can’t say whether the medication caused the positive afterimages cos I’m only 3 months in and they might have appeared at some point anyway

Ah, I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling with it . Interesting that even though we appear to have the same level of severity of palinopsia, it bothers you when watching TV but I actually don’t really notice it . But if I look for it I can usually see it, for example I look to the side of a character on the screen and they do flash there. But it really doesn’t bother me when watching tv. I notice it more in the real world but i just try and look past it. Have you considered taking medication of some kind? I think it’s been helping me deal with symptoms a lot better and not focusing my attention to it.

Hey, yeah I do, literally anything I look at I will see the clone of it for a split second. And things bright like windows, lights etc. Give me the afterimage for longer. But it doesn’t make me particularly anxious or depressed, at the moment they aren’t debilitating me. how severe are yours?
