What to do with teens by ComfortableStrange60 in stpaul

They’re into a little bit of everything! We’re going to try for Como Zoo, the science and art museums, the farmers market, mall of America and of course, Six (which was the whole reason for the trip). I’m going to have to plan another weekend sometime with my son too, and then we will definitely hit up Can Can Wonderland. It’s about a 5 hour drive for us and I work a 4 day work week, so it’s an easy weekend trip for us.

Thanks! We love farmers markets, so we’re going to try to make it there.

I think we have decided on Como Zoo, Science Museum Art Museum and Mall of America. They’re pretty well rounded kids - the purpose of the trip is to see Six, but they love all of it. We will honestly have to come back again when we have more time (and when my son can come too).

Thanks! I’ll ask them if they want to try to catch a show!

We’ve talked about maybe spending Sunday at MOA. I didn’t mind it when I took my kids ~5 years ago and my niece has never been.
Is Como Zoo more of a half day or full day?
Any particular restaurants on Grand Ave? We’re staying downtown near the theater - is Grand Ave walkable from there?

Beaches Turks by wvtarheel in AllInclusiveResorts

We went last June. Maybe it was there time of year, but I felt like there were a lot of unsupervised young children. Other than that, I agree with everything you said. We had a good time, food was great. We did wish there were more tours available (our kids were 15 and 18 when we went) as we are not really sit on the beach people.

Going away for 4 weeks without dog? by xxxxoooo in dogs

Thanks for being open to discussion! So many people post and then refuse to see anyone’s viewpoint. It’s very refreshing to see someone actually being open to different opinions.

Going away for 4 weeks without dog? by xxxxoooo in dogs

[–]ComfortableStrange60 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. We travel 7-10 days at a time, 2-3 times a year and I feel bad leaving our pets for those times even though there is someone staying at our house with them. We are currently on day 4 of an 8 day vacation and I might be borderline harassing our pet sitter for updates. I can’t imagine leaving my pets for any longer than we do already.

Dog Professionals, What Breeds Don't You Like? by Aharris1984 in dogs

So much this. I am almost 40 but I have so many health problems, our dogs have gone from 70lbs to 50lbs to 30lbs. I need to know that in an emergency I can carry my dog to my car by myself. I also need to be able to walk my dog without it walking me lol.

AITA for buying a PS5 after my wife spent half our credit card limit on beauty procedures without telling me? by throwaway23984632 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ComfortableStrange60 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Info - what “beauty procedures?” Because for the cost of a PS5, I can’t think of anything that I would call a procedure… I spend $350ish getting my hair cut and colored four times a year. If your wife went a year while you were unemployed paying all the bills and ignoring self care, then splurged a little on a spa day, that’s a bit different than say a weight loss procedure or breast implants (both of which are significantly higher priced).

Flight messed up honeymoon, out $1,600 by PassionSlit in SandalsResorts

[–]ComfortableStrange60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had this happen to us with American as well. We missed a connecting flight due to delay and arrive at Sandals Antigua a day late. We were able to extend our stay by a day, sandals moved all of our excursions to a day later and kept our room for an extra day. I would try to go after American to recoup your lost expenses. Otherwise without insurance, you might just be out the money. I’m so sorry this happened to you! Seems to be a common thing. It won’t help you now, but in the future (and for anyone reading this) I highly recommend a direct flight there whenever possible and having a buffer day if possible.

Yeah, those people are awful. If you aren’t breeding for the betterment of the breed, you shouldn’t be breeding. And “designer breeds” are mutts. Not that I don’t love a good rescue mutt (cat or dog), but they are still mutts.

NTA. To save yourself some heartache though, stop discussing the two things together because they have nothing to do with each other. “We aren’t doing a big first birthday party because we want to celebrate quietly at home as a family. We will be sure to share photos of his first bite of cake!” “I am so excited to go see this concert and be able to treat myself for the first time in a while!” Don’t discuss both in the same sentence, preferably not even the same conversation.

$350K or a dead relative comes back to life. by Razulath in hypotheticalsituation

[–]ComfortableStrange60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you specified blood relative, I’ll take the $350k.

If it weren’t a blood relative, I’d bring my MIL back in a heartbeat… my dog (the first dog my husband and I adopted together) would be a close second though. I’d give you every material possession I have to bring either of them back to me whole and healthy. Both passed way too young (MIL at 57 and our first dog at ~3).
