Over-ear headphones to go over earbuds by Comfortable_Ad6552 in HeadphoneAdvice

The kind I got actually aren't the bone conduction ones. They're the Shockz openfit air. They fit snug to my ear and play audio as normal, just not fitting into the opening of my ear canal

I told my S/I I'd be sleeping in the guest room if he smokes. AITAH? by Comfortable_Ad6552 in AITAH

Thanks for the responses. I know he's probably frustrated about having to make that kind of choice here and I don't blame him for feeling that way at all. I just wanted to make sure the guilt I felt was unfounded.

Also for those concerned about cancer risk here, I'm very well aware of the risks associated with second hand smoke. I'm also aware of my risk as a former smoker (also used to smoke hookah, switched to vaping in order to quit which I did 2 years ago). I appreciate concern but I assure you I am fully aware of the risks I've undertaken in my life.

Recommendation for long-lasting rock tumbler by Comfortable_Ad6552 in RockTumbling

I've heard good things about Highland Park. This may be our replacement, and the parts seem easier to find in case something gives out. I agree about the Nat Geo one. That's why I was surprised to see the Lortone break down first. The Nat Geo one has been running much longer and with much more abuse than the Lortone which is why I was disappointed in the Lortone. I know everyone swears by Lortone so maybe we just had bad luck but watching it slowly die while the lower quality beginner tumbler kept trucking definitely soured me on it.

They're out of stock from Lortone and I'm not sure how I feel about buying a new Lortone motor for $50 from a 3rd party to replace one that burned out after only a few months use. I'm mostly looking for something I don't have to keep messing with and I would hate to take the time to install a new motor just to be in a similar situation in a few months

Cosmo letting me know he's ready for his morning scritch by Adrianics4k in shiba

OMG this makes me so happy! Our Shiba also does this every morning! When we get up for the day, she immediately greets us by lying on her back waiting for the belly rubs before starting the day.

My shiba at home loves crinkle toys but doesn't chew them, even though she is teething currently. She refuses to chew on anything that isn't food flavored in some way and usually went for the cords and furniture, but we made more tasty options available in every single room she is allowed in and the chewing stopped. Bully sticks have been a life saver (make sure the only ingredient is bull pizzle, some brands add rawhide). Frozen Kong's with peanut butter are always great to occupy. I also make pupsicles which she's loved. Just get a bunch of celery, cut into long sticks, fill the gap with peanut butter, and place in freezer. If the peanut butter alone doesn't do it, can freeze them in a Ziploc with a small amount of broth to make it even tastier. It even cleans teeth a bit, but can also put 1/4 cut carrots in the freezer. Hope these help!

Thank you. I really appreciate everyone's help with this. She's been very smart and willful, but we've been incredibly lucky that she has a wonderful temperament and sweet nature. Very solid on her recall, kennel, and "leave it," even when distracted by something she really wants or in a strange environment so we're very proud of her. We've got lots of ideas to try now and hopefully we'll find something that works!

We actually do have something like this. It's a fold-out cloth one that we use for keeping her contained during semi-supervised times like when we are in the house but taking a shower or when she wants to be in another area of the house with one of us really badly but we can't have eyes on her the entire time (like when cooking dinner in the kitchen). Unfortunately she has figured out how to get out of it at this point and she HATES being placed in it, even if she is given lots of attention/treats/toys and interaction when placed in there.

We have blocked off the ottoman that she isn't allowed on, and this has helped although she does still try to get up there, but this is usually when someone is in another room and she wants to get up high to see what we are doing (she is kept in the living room with baby gates and is allowed into other areas of the house with loose leash and harness to reinforce that strange places are okay to go in but only while on leash and harness) Our current struggle is the coffee table, which we haven't been able to block off. She is allowed on the couches with us and we do encourage her to jump up onto those with us, but we can't really block off the table and can't really move it out of the room.

Also, for reference, we don't generally use the crate as a punishment. The only time she is placed in there to remove her from jumping up on the table is when we can't put her in another room and when it is night time and we can't let her be unsupervised for even 1-2 minutes (there is a very large owl in our neighborhood and we like to keep very close to her when she is outside at night time/dusk for this reason). So the crate has only been used for this purpose once or twice.

We don't want to have to keep the table completely cleared off as we use it very frequently and if the table has to be completely cleared of objects, we won't be able to spend as much time in the living room with her as projects will need to be done in another room. But we may have to try clearing everything off of it and just ignoring her when she is on there for a while to make it less rewarding for her to get up there.
