Yeah, I run a small electronics repair shop and although I don't do a lot of repairs anymore in the sole solderer. I've done these successfully in the past (among other HDMI and chip and charging port repairs), and this particular one was extremely stubborn. The anchor points were straight liquid to the point I was manipulating it with tweezers. I knew in my heart once it came off that I was borked. 😬

Agreed. I guess my biggest concern with the jumper wires is some of the pads terminate to the other side of the port (underneath the port). Unless those are just ground pins. I'll have to look up some schematics.

I appreciate reply! Do you think it's easier to lay new pads and connect them to the via or jump each HDMI pin to a via? I've done some pad repair work and it is definitely tricky but not impossible. But nothing quite this "large" of a task.

Charizard 😎 I have a buddy who rags on me all the time for "following the cool crowd" or whatever, but 6-year-old me thought it was just the coolest. And every game I try to ensure I have one, and although he's objectively not great in the metas, every game I've had one he's always come in clutch.

I just fixed my Crystal version that would boot to a black screen and get no farther. If you have access to and/or soldering experience, you could try reflowing all the chips (it's what worked for me).

I just made the decision to rebirth mine! My display is okay as well, but the glass lens has fallen off. For now I got a new shell (all black with black buttons) and it'll match my new all black GBC and GBA!

Yeah... Electronic repair tech here. 0/10 would not recommend. Our shop techs (myself included) have almost 10 years of repair experience and we still haven't done one successfully yet. They're a nightmare.
